Hi People,

Keeping in mind that the times are getting tough for me (and most of the people around me) I am asking for advise in changing beliefs in most productive ways. I became consious about my beliefs but find it futile to change them.
I have got lots of stuff that does not suit me well and want to get rid of it for the best of me and those around me.
Any suggestions?

NIce to hear from you,

depending on who you are depends on how long you take to change who you are.
It takes time to dig out crap and put it where it belongs.
this is something you also might need to understand, how stubborn one can be.
If it don't suit you anymore then just chuck it and learn from it.

Try looking in the mirror (proverbial and otherwise) and do your personal inventory and go from there and don't go into denial keep looking into your own eyes and see what they tell on the inside

Ammit,

The need for change comes not from the Bible reading or other books.
I just know inside that I can and want to be different but somehow I am stuck. I don't know...((
God knows how many seminars I have attended but everything is the same.

That's the thing!

One moment at a time, one day at a time, one task at a time. Focus on your goal as you sort through your "stuff". Less is more sometimes.
If the stuff is able to benefit others, plaese ... donate it! Otherwise, dispose of trash and feel the self-imposed burdens lift.

Less is best.

I'd recommend starting by taking a detailed look at your past with a clear head. Look at any especially painful/traumatic experiences and try to figure out how you changed in response to them. The trick is to acknowledge that past situations may have created an emotional need for a specific type of validation to feel like you've somehow made peace with whatever bad impression the event left on you. For instance someone who feels powerless might go learn martial arts to feel "empowered" because they in specific need to validate their past by showing how they are now no longer as susceptible to being beaten up. Once you acknowledge that yes, your emotions are real, they may be irrational, and that despite their irrationality they cannot be discarded (and in fact MUST be listened to, if you don't express how you feel consciously you will do it unconsciously.) it frees you to explore newer, healthier ways to validate them without causing the same level of dysfunction that you had before.

It's a hard truth that beliefs are in many ways crutches, but like a crutch covers a real physical infirmity beliefs cover real mental or emotional infirmities that are every bit as severe or important as a lost leg. Once you can see your injury you can treat it sensibly rather than praying for external salvation. :) At least that's how I approached the issue myself.
