As the consolidated corporate media machine fails in its function as the fourth estate, citizen journalists and independent press outlets are there to pick up the slack. But this important task is becoming increasingly threatened by the harsh treatment at the hands of the police force. Citizen based media is often targeted by police for reporting unfiltered truths, or they are lumped together with activists/protesters and beaten or arrested. As more and more Americans choose alternative news sources to find out what is really happening in their country, harassing those providing first hand reports muzzles the free flow of information and poses a threat to democracy. Abby Martin explores the subject for RT.

Aren't police OUR public servants? And can't we arrest them and prosecute them under Common Law? And can't we shoot them, too? :becky:

This Police state we live in called America does not have a police force among the endless number of municipal, state and Federal agencies with one bit of a "service" mentality. They are trained and see themselves as "enforcers" of the populace period. And many do not consider themselves as under the same laws! They love their position on the totem of the "power elite" even though they are on the bottom of that power totem pole. We all know what flows down hill. Needless to say it is the dirty work of those higher up. God help us!

Peace,

Maia, I'm with you girl. chuckle chuckle. However, I do sadly think that those days, have slipped away with the rest of our disapearing rights. I live in Washington State, and here it is a Fedral offense to; swear, argue, or raise your voice to, "any" public employee. And they have signs, in the county clercks office, stating such. hmm.

But who cares? Wanna go ski-ing this week-end?

Town hall meeting? Nah I'm watchin the game.

Bring me a beer Ethyle, the games on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some freinds of mine started a Presidential Campagn for me. That is untill we all got a visit by this guy that looked bigger than Hulk Hogan, in a three piece suit and told us that "our Family Tree would disapear". We ceased.

Then, after having thought that they had forgotten about me, I tried to organise the truckers. This time, the fbi came to my home and told me to "cease and desist", or I would never be seen again. I ceased, again.

I learned something very important. They do watch, and they do not let, "normal" people play their game.

And now I'm up to my old tricks again, only this time, with an entirely new plan. chuckle chuckle.

love and peace

The Police no longer serve & protect. They're IRS agents with guns and they'll take the sheeple's money & fill up the prisons with the sheeple. Personally, I think if your life is going to be ruined, you should think twice about letting yourself be arrested (e.g. leave the country - I'm not talking about violence at the moment). Go back to the depression - see the Police machine-gunning workers and beating the sheeple for no reason.

I love the whole citizen journalist concept. It really angers the controllers and mainstream media. They can no longer hide behind the fact they control the media. What used to cost millions of dollars to accomplish can now be done with a video camera and a pc. I love it. It exposes them for the hypocrites that they actually are. In effect they are saying "yeah you are free, but shut TFU." These people will even attack the people who control their salaries...................

Wow, sirdipswitch! I say, if they don't let us play their game then why should we play theirs? I'm sick of theirs anyway. To me, I've stopped giving them any authority that violates my free will and sovereignty. I'm sure they hate that word, but I consider myself free and they can kiss my a**..... I speak against them. I mock them. And eventually, I will have all the powers over them.... They had better watch themselves....
Great luck on the next plan....!

sadly police are robots, they do what they are told instead of doing whats right. keepin the paycheck is more important than protecting and serving the public. Instead of protect and serve it should read = obey the maniacs ... enforce the law - enforce the law - oh unless it's a government official or a hollywood con artist or a judges son , one more step to martial law .

Here's what I think. WE all can spread the word faster than all the medias put together. And reach more that normally wouldn't hear things. That's what they hope to stop. NOT HAPPENING! They should know better than that....
