How do we know they're not thinking. "Mmm, lambchops tonight".
Good deeds deserve a Big Mac. Given the general population, what are the odds that these guys are vegetarians who eschew factory farmed meat? Odds are high that they eat that product.
Would this picture then be highly ironic?

Rollo. I do like our concept for a thread and laud it. I cannot ignore what my wholistic vision sees. Huge disconnects.
If I see a picture that escapes irony I will post it.

Great photo Rollo. I would like to contribute with some photos ofmy own but my iPad makes it difficult! My ewes are lambing at the moment. Our Sunday (yesterday in our time) included bringing in to the fire a twin lamb that was cold in the mouth and unresponsive. There was a mess of sleeping cats and this little lamb we named Sunday parked in front of the fire all day. I fed her lambs milk replacer with manuka honey in it. It was very satisfying to see her respond and start drinking by the end of the day. She will end up as a breeding ewe and supply me with lovely wool and lovely babies, of which some will end up as lamb chops!!

Hey mate,
That´s ironic indeed.
Often, people who eat meat are not completely aware of what they´re eating, about where meat comes from.
Here´s a fun video to think about it.
It´s in Portuguese, but I guess you´ll understand it anyway.
People go to the supermarket and ask for fresh sausage.
Then the guy pretends he´s actually killing some cute piggies to make the sausage on demand.
Just look at people´s reaction!
I mean, they want to eat meat, but they don´t want to kill the piggies!
What a paradox we are...So compassionate and so ignorantly selfish.

My friend, we´re all so weird...

Raf.

Ah, judgement. When you have risked your life to save someone or something, get back to us and we'll all judge you. For someone who lauds the intention of the thread, you have made a fairly good job of stomping all over it.

LOL Ah, judgement. Since there is no mirror smiley, this one will have to suffice. :jester:
In your judgement and hyperemotionality, you completely missed the point. You think you didn't, but you did by light years.
You won't understand this point either. Your emotions will blind you.

Mirror smiley? The spiritual equivalent of "talk to the hand", but I will own that because it is all smoking mirrors.
No, I did not miss the point - you took what was a moment demonstrating the beauty humanity is capable of, and you defecated on it from your self-assumed perch of moral superiority. My judgement was based on the thoughts of your heart, and on the words of your mouth, not on my assumption of your ethics, morality or dietary preference.

“The Human Butterfly”
This runs at the bottom of the screen at the 8 minute mark:
“When the caterpillar reaches a certain point in it’s own evolution, it becomes overconsumptive, a voracious and it eats everything in sight”...At that same time, in the molecular structure of the caterpillar, the “imaginal cells” become active...while all this gorging is going on, those “imaginal cells” wake up, and they look for each other inside the caterpillar’s body...when enough of them connect, they do not need to be in the majority, they become the genetic directors of the future of the caterpillar...At that point the other cells begin to putrefy and become what’s called the nutritive soup - out of which the “imaginal cells” create the absolute, unpredictable miracle of the butterfly...What is possible is that WE are the “imaginal cells” on the planet right now.” By: Elizabeth Sahtouris

I like the idea of trying to find light. Sure, there is some irony in it, but maybe through the irony, we can examine that, and learn. Having a goal of understanding and moving closer to that light, not saying we are there yet. Maybe we are still in kindergarten on a spiritual plane. We have to start somewhere.

"The plain fact is that the planet does not need more 'successful' people. But it does desperately need more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers, and lovers of every shape and form. It needs people who live well in their places. It needs people of moral courage willing to join the fight to make the world habitable and humane. And these needs have little to do with success as our culture has defined it." ~ David Orr
