A group of Russians picking mushrooms discovered 248 human foetuses in four open plastic barrels in a forest ravine.

Medical experts and investigators are now trying to figure out who dumped the bodies, aged between 12 and 16 weeks, in the isolated ditch in the Ural Mountains.

Police described the discovery as "worthy of a horror movie", the Moscow Times reports.

Attached to the palm-sized foetuses were tags listing surnames and numbers.

They had been preserved in formaldehyde but many of the foetuses had spilled out of the barrels when they were apparently thrown into the ditch.

Police believe some of the foetuses are up to 10 years old and come from at least four different hospitals.

.
It's hard to imagine what the Russian fisherman was thinking when he stumbled on some strange plastic barrels in the middle of the forest in the Ural Mountains recently. Inside the barrels? Human fetuses, 248 of them all tagged with family names.

It almost sounds too sick and twisted to be true, but sadly, that is exactly what happened. The poor man went to the woods to get some firewood, and instead he found hundreds of fetuses. And now for the part of this horror story that will make you forever fear going to a hospital.

Investigators say they think these fetuses actually came FROM medical facilities. No doubt with the help of those family names, the fetuses have been tied to hospitals in Yekaterinburg. And they're putting the blame on a bio-medical waste company for falling down on the job.

Now let's just think about this for a moment, people. You go into the hospital, and you're at their mercy. We all just take it on blind faith that whatever happens after we leave, they'll treat whatever came out of us with the utmost respect.

Hospitals and bio-medical waste companies have to be held to a higher standard precisely because of what they deal with: humans.

We aren't talking someone's old refrigerator that wasn't dumped on the roadside instead of being taken to the proper landfill. Heck, we aren't talking just any medical "waste." This isn't a used syringe. These were human fetuses. Nearly 250 of them!

If they could screw up something his important that badly, it makes me wonder what else is being screwed up. And heads had better roll.

What do you think should happen to the people at this company? Are you uneasy about medical "waste" and what happens to it?

The grisly remains were discovered on Monday about three miles from a road leading north from Yekaterinburg, the capital of Sverdlovsk region, to the town of Nyevyansk.

It was unclear where the foetuses, some of them six inches long, had come from. A local prosecutor said they were biological material left over after abortions and appeared to originate from at least four different hospitals and clinics. However, other reports suggested they were the result of stillbirths and miscarriages. Police said they were investigating tags attached to some of the foetuses which had reference numbers and surnames on them.

Investigators are trying to establish how long the four 50-litre plastic barrels had lain in the forest. The foetuses had been kept in formaldehyde but because the lids had come off the containers some of them had spilt out and were mummified.

Vladimir Vlasov, deputy head of the regional government, said it appeared that a company responsible for disposing of the remains had dumped the barrels. "All those who are guilty of this will be punished," he added, saying that could include a criminal prosecution.

Russian doctors and public health experts have warned in the past that there is a large illegal trade in the former Soviet Union for human embryos and foetuses which are used in untested beauty treatments.

"Police believe that they may have come from four local hospitals and have started an investigation."

so the hospitals have localized a dumping ground? they were in the open why? they say one was fallen over and (excuse the gore) spilled out..
it is an intriguing thing to have happen.. when there would have been many more barrels over time, so it just does not add up to me..

an underground medical institute?
maybe a transfer was taking place and they were caught? because formaldehyde is no good once the sun reacts with it, see below.

formaldehyde

It is also used to preserve biological specimens, and as a preservative in vaccinations. In medicine, formaldehyde solutions are applied topically to dry the skin, such as in the treatment of warts. Formaldehyde based solutions are used in embalming to disinfect and temporarily preserve human remains pending final disposition.

Formaldehyde has many benefits as a
preservative. Among its principal advantages
are: it is cheap, it kills many micro-organisms to
prevent the spread of disease, it aggressively
destroys the enzymes responsible for
decomposition, it reacts with proteins to form
insoluble compounds that are resistant to
decomposition, and it hardens and fixes the
body's tissues quickly for positioning of the
body. Even state legislatures have recognized its
powerful disinfectant qualities mandating a
certain percentage be used in embalming fluids.

formaldehyde deteriorates with age and when exposed to
sunlight. It is compatible only with a certain number of chemicals and it must be stored un
optimal conditions prior to use.

Formaldehyde is naturally produced in very small amounts in our bodies as a part of our normal, everyday metabolism and causes us no harm. It can also be found in the air that we breathe at home and at work, in the food we eat, and in some products that we put on our skin

And then you have this........

MOSCOW, November 21 (RIA Novosti) - Russia currently has around two billion tons of toxic waste on its territory, and there is no effective way to dispose of it, the Russian consumer rights regulator said Friday.
"Electroplating industry waste products, as well as waste containing mercury and chlorinated organics represent a particular danger," Rospotrebnadzor said, citing the federal program devoted to Russia's national system of chemical and biological security for 2009-2013.

The Volga Federal District has the maximum number of waste products, about 400 tons per 1 square km. The Southern and Central Federal districts' pollution levels are 267 tons and 211 tons per square km accordingly.

So when there is no room for your rubbish just place it where you think it will disappear.. might be a little more delusional than tossing your chewing gum wrapper out of the window of your car as you drive along hey?

Hey Benny - sadly they sell the parts from the abortion clinics, and am assuming Russia is the same as the rest of the world. There would be only one reason they were there. Ian Wishart (Investigate magazine) a local NZ hero. He is legit and a true investigative journo. He has done a story on what really goes on at the abortion clinics and how the researches buy them for "research". They consider the unborn a part of the "mothers tissue".

This is a delicate subject - I am RN and pro choice, but found this confronting. Please do not read on if you think you might be in any way affected by graphic information of this type.

The article states in part:

Leaked documents from inside abortion clinics have hit the headlines across the US, and they make dark reading. They’re order forms from scientists to agencies like Advanced Bioscience Resources, instructing what parts they need and how to get them.

“Dissect fetal liver and thymus and occasional lymph node from fetal cadaver within 10 (minutes of death).” “Arms and legs need not be intact.” “Intact brains preferred, but large pieces of brain may be usable.”
Or this, from a scientist studying the “Biochemical Characterization of human type X Collagen,” who requests “Whole intact leg, include entire hip joint, 22-24 weeks gest.”
The harvesting technician is asked to “dissect by cutting through symphasis pubis and include whole Illium [hip joint]. To be removed from fetal cadaver within 10 minutes.”

The glands, he says in his request to Anatomic Gift Foundation on November 10, 1998, are “To be removed and prepared within 5 minutes … after circulation has stopped.”

These are some of the current rates being paid - they attest the mother provides consent, however it would appear that they do not understand what "medical research" really means.

There is reference in the article on how some get rid of the remains after harvesting amongst many other stuff.

Brain (< 8 weeks) 30% discount if significantly fragmented $999 Brain (> 8 weeks) 30% discount if significantly fragmented $150
Bone Marrow (< 8 weeks) $350 Bone Marrow (> 8 weeks) $250
Ears (< 8 weeks) $ 75 Ears (> 8 weeks) $ 50
Eyes (< 8 weeks) 40% discount for single eye $ 75 Eyes (> 8 weeks) 40% discount for single eye $ 50
Skin (> 12 weeks) $100
Lungs & Heart Block $150
Intact Embryonic Cadaver (< 8 weeks) $400 Intact Embryonic Cadaver (> 8 weeks) $600
Intact Trunk (with/without limbs) $500

For over 50yrs Russia has used abortion as a form of birth control. In recent times they have reduced this form of birth control

they are surely not dumb enough to dump it though are they?
i mean being as sadistic as they are wouldn't they be able to use then little ones? it seams these were fully intact..

i dont know, maybe i feel the newborns pain, but this is so astonishing to me..
and if you were going to end a life through abortion that is the local policy and known to most.. why would you keep them in a preservative?
if you take a life from a womb, why keep it alive in some way?

and why dump it so unsecurely? alarm bells dudes.......

as above a whole cadaver is worth 600.00 if over 8 wks gestation. Seems the whole ones are used for stem cell research. Interesting that these all had name tags on them....very odd!!!
(watched the vid on rt) they are thinking the disposal company ditched them.

i know witchy.. i am not liking that, "ill say it is a waste", the absolute vision of it revolts me and unreasonable disposel of these former lifeforms are a trigger for response...
