Two of three key signs of changes expected to occur at the boundary of interstellar space have changed faster than at any other time in the last seven years, according to new data from NASA's Voyager 1 spacecraft.

I did see the last images as Voyager left the solar system. Thanks for the information. I have always been interested in space and astronomy!

I wanted to 'thank' NASA for this. But I couldn't! :)

Remember reading about our suns magnetic field possibly protecting the solar system from other more deadly fields entering ours (hence the up and down battle at the periphery). This of course is ironic as the earths field protects us from the suns discharges. :)

IIRC, There appears to be a neutral electrical charge zone that is being transversed at this time... and the expectation is that the electrical polarity will be reversed from that of the solar systems proper (the area the probe was originally in and coming from), once this zone is transited.
Note that neutral does not mean absent. The charge levels can high, regarding mass/amount of particles..but they are in electrical balance. The thing is that there is charge differential, which we know as voltage potential, which is voltage differential between two spots, as a value (like the pressure difference between the inside of an air tank vs the outside), and then there is charge density, which is is the amount or particles in the given spot or area.
One might say that the 'electric universe' model is being illustrated.

But of course there is no indication of that officially as the "electric universe' theory is anathema. the speed of the shift indicates the gradient of electrical potentiality is rather steep once the heliosphere is transited.
So, solar systems are charged oppositionally to the interstellar space through which they travel at perhaps different charges depending upon size of the star, # of planets, exotics traversing, presence of nebulae, other kinds of gaseous bodies ...
It'd be awesome if somebody figured out a way to aim an instrument out there that gathers the electrical data for the different regions and then transposes a musical scale over it all ... you could probably ascend just by listening to it. LOL
