Well, from what i've read it's kind of complicated. From what I gather it's not always a disaster, just a change in biological and or social evolution, but usually how that occurs is when something does happen. Nothing has happened today so far, but the novelty keeps dropping until around the 8th. According to that video, the timewave shows August 30th being the highest point in novelty until the end date hits.

His idea is that the unverise is a novelty creating device and that we are just parts of this creation. SIX people have been killed in a shooting at a Sikh temple in the US, with the suspected gunman shot dead by police.
Investigators probing the attack say they are treating the shootings as a ``domestic terrorism type incident''.

The shootings happened before 10:30 a.m., when witnesses said several dozen people were gathering at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin for a service. Hours of uncertainty followed as police in tactical gear and carrying assault rifles surrounded the temple with armored vehicles and ambulances.

A crowd gathered outside as officers descended on the temple and some spoke of talking or exchanging text messages with people inside. Some said they had heard there were multiple shooters, others spoke of women and children held hostage.

The first official word from police was that they didn't know how many victims or suspects were involved. But a short time later, after an extensive search of the temple, authorities said they did not believe there was more than one shooter.

Jatin Der Mangat, 38, of Racine, said his uncle Satwant Singh Kaleka, the temple's president, was one of those shot. Mangat didn't know how serious Kaleka's injuries were.

"This is nerve-racking. No one really knows what's going on. Nothing like this has ever happened before," Mangat said. Later, when he learned of the deaths, he said, "It was like the heart just sat down. This shouldn't happen anywhere."

Oak Creek Police John Edwards said officers called to the scene were tending a victim when the suspect ambushed one officer and shot him multiple times. The suspect then shot at another officer, who fired back and killed him.

Earlier, police had said the officer who was shot killed the suspected shooter.

Tactical units went through the building and found four people dead inside the temple and two outside, in addition to the shooter.

Just saw the horrible news. Who knows if the increase in novelty is related. Some people on another forum were questioning how a single mans decision and a few deaths can effect the novelty so much? Well I'd imagine that it depends on how many people the news gets to. The media does a great job of broadcasting events like this all around the world. So a local tragedy effects people emotionally on a world-wide scale. Also, if this 2012 phenomenon is correct I'd assume it's not only affecting us humans on this tiny blue dot, but also life on other planets in this 3rd dimensional existence that we live in.

To answer the question, "Please define 'novelty'," Terence defined it as being a scalar variable, a changing value which represents the extent to which all information approaches concrescence. Meaning... The closer the line on the graph moves to zero, the more interconnected all information is. The zero point (Dec 21, 2012) signifies the point at which the equation becomes incalculable due to an unforeseen anomaly which some have called The Singularity or The Omega Point.

What this means is that information will become so interconnected that all information will be accessible everywhere at any time, in relation to our direct perception of reality. (All information is already everywhere, ala the Akashic Records or the Pineal Gland, but our filter is not yet wide enough to perceive it.) As the motions of the game unfold through global events, these things will become more and more clear to us.

Timewave Zero was derived (ala calculus) from the King Wen sequence of the I Ching. When Terence developed this, he was completely unaware of the correlation to the Mayan calendar.
