Well this is no surprise and one of the reasons the Neo -cons in 1990 after the wall
camedown issued their doctrine for the 'New American Century '...Aided and abetted
by the 'City'....Also why Iran is on the Agenda for a possible visit from the economic
hit men via the mil ind complex and more spilling of blood !!

'In yet another move that could be seen coming from a mile away by even the most casual observer, a recently released statement from the Department of Defense is announcing that U.S. agencies are now “aiding” Afghanistan to locate and pinpoint the nation’s mineral wealth.

This “treasure mapping” of Afghanistan is being conducted in anticipation of the opening of the bidding process for private companies who are no doubt salivating as they wait in the wings for their opportunity to gobble up the natural wealth of the impoverished and war-torn nation and, subsequently, turn it into massive profits.'

Delegation from the Afghan Ministry of Mines Visits Washington

An official delegation led by H.E. Wahidullah Shahrani, Minister of Mines, visited Washington from February 29 until March 3 to discuss the future of Afghanistan’s mineral resources industry with American officials and private investors.

During their visit, the delegation met with officials from the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Geological Survey, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the U.S. Department of Transportation. The delegation participated in a roundtable discussion hosted by the Center for Strategic International Studies (CSIS) and Center for American Progress the prominent think tanks in Washington. Minister Shahrani, through various meetings and interviews with the media, expressed the potential of Afghanistan’s untapped mineral resources industry and encouraged private investment in the mining sector.

During a meeting, Minister Shahrani explained that, “There has been a tremendous amount of interest and activity in the Mining Sector in Afghanistan. U.S. Geological Survey data indicates that Afghanistan may hold unexplored mineral deposits worth as much as $1 trillion dollars. The government of Afghanistan has estimated the figure as high as $3 trillion dollars.”

The Government of Afghanistan looks forward to future cooperation between the U.S. Government and the Afghan Ministry of Mines. Furthermore, the Afghan Ministry of Mines is eager to continue its engagement with private sector investors in the U.S.

This Article is from 2006 but I doubt if much has changed as in all aid assisted
third world countries the Rich get richer and the poor, poorer !
Not that it was better before , but when we the west spend trillions of tax payers

•At least 6.5 million people out of a population of between 21 and 26 million are dependent on food aid, and there is a very real risk of famine.
•Afghanistan has one of the lowest life expectancies in the world - just 44.5 years.
•A fifth of children die before they reach the age of five.
•About two million Afghans are now living abroad, most of them in Iran and Pakistan.
•In Kabul, an estimated 500,000 people are homeless or living in makeshift accommodation.
•Only 40 per cent of Afghan children are vaccinated against major diseases, and just 25 per cent of the population has access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation. There is just one doctor per 6,000 people, and one nurse per 2,500 people.
•Some 72,000 new cases of tuberculosis are reported every year. Women account for most TB deaths.
•Up to 100 people are killed or wounded by mines and unexploded ordnance every month
•Every year an estimated 400,000 Afghans are affected by natural disasters.
•Less then 6% of Afghans have access to electricity, that too partly.

The amount of resources and money spend on the war in Afghanistan, its not surpising to say the least. But this in turn will create an atmosphere in the region of a foriegn power exploiting another country. With the historical context brought into play, it will have long term effects on the future, and possibilty lead to more conflict as a result.

Isn't this another expose of the hypocrisy, as per John Perkins, of 'Confessions of an Economic Hitman' fame - you go in and loan a bunch of money that kicks back to US corporations then weigh down the country with a loan that can never be paid back (due to all the misinformation in the sales pitch) then go in and use legal maneuvers to scoop up all the rightful property of another country... the basic mechanism of the US Hegemony machine, ala Rothschilds 'magical' money... ie. loaning out paper, in exchange for the ultimate expropriation of others property through foreclosure and bankruptcy...

So now here you have a country that could actually benefit from the loan and could really develop and could really pay back said loan, so what do they do? ...they rip their country apart and kill everyone promoting peace and prosperity... then just try and steal the resources outright... the control of the poppy harvesting and heroin production and distribution must be the seed money for their next big move in exploitation, and get a load of Karzai... what a bloody circus, I suspect at some point in the future he will just be another Shah of Iran or Hosni Mubarik after his usefulness has worn out...

btw if anyone has read the book DUNE by Frank Herbert written in 1965, which interestingly enough is about the same time that Lyndsey Williams said that the PTB were planning this whole system of paper money and oil control of the planet, will see this is the basis of his story. And it fits like a glove especially on Iraq. Remember what the actual name of the planet "Dune" was? - "Arrakis" and the whole story was how another Planet that sounded earily similar to England and was protrayed as such in the movie, was to move it's headquarters there and act as 'Steward' of this very important planet due it it's critical value as the only known planet with a 'resource' known as 'spice' the fuel of all hyper-dimensional space travel (ie. Galatic Commerce) Herbert among other things was a journalist, and obviously a good researcher... I wonder what it must have been like to have such knowledge of what was going on, way back in 1965...

Eisenhower warns us of the military industrial complex.

Dwight D. Eisenhow

"Their goals may or may not coincide with the best interests of the American people.
Think of the divergence of interests, for example, between the grunts who are actually
fighting this war, who have been eating sand and spilling their blood in the desert, and the power
brokers who fought like crazy to make the war happen and are profiteering from it every step of the way."

This is the route/source of the take over of Congress and the Whitehouse....
The amount of money raised and spent by the Republicans and Democrats
has created the perfect system of corruption as ....favours owed have
to be repaid !!...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In Fiscal Year 1999 the Department of Defense awarded $118 billion to contractors for goods and services.
The "Big Three" in the defense industry -- Lockheed Martin, Boeing and Raytheon -- alone accounted for 26%
of all defense contracts in FY'99.

In fiscal year 2003 the United States Government will spend on the military more than all the rest of the countries
on Earth combined. Current expenditures are 437 billion and our past obligations are 339 billion, this equals
776 billion. 46% of our Taxes go to the Military Industrial Complex: http://www.warresisters.org/piechart.htm.
This figure doesn't even begin to account for all of the off-budget, black projects, homeland security nor the
40+ billion the United States Government will spend on intelligence in 2003. -- Mark Elsis Lovearth, Jan. 8, 2002

Its all hypocracy !!

xEOCeltA-tc

Twenty-five years ago the Iran-Contra Scandal made headline across the globe. The US was selling weapons to Iran and funneling
money to rebels in Nicaragua. Back in the 1980s the incident left a dark cloud over the reputation of the country and then-president
Ronald Reagan. But do Americans remember what happened almost three decades ago? Lori Harfinest of www.TheResident.net took
to the streets of New York to find out.
