I don't know what to say about yesterday's attack on a Sikh temple, but it is a shame we live in a world where these things still happen.
I do not know their history but Sikhs were some of the most peaceful people i have come across in my life time, and do hope they have what is in them to take themselves out of this negative thing that happened to them.
This is a wonderful sacred mantra from their traditions, it is better to only practice it when you really are free of negativity towards anyone or anything, as it is about reversing the negative to positive.
The words and their meaning
Ek Ong Kar Sat Gur Prasad, Sat Gur Prasad Ek Ong Kar
Meaning:
There is one Creator of all Creation. All is a blessing of the One Creator. This realization comes through Guru's Grace.
Short explanation found here (http://www.spiritvoyage.com/mantra/Ek-Ong-Kar-Sat-Gur-Prasad/MAN-000028.aspx)
and a quote, from this sort along with many others
Yogi Bhajan referred to this mantra as the "Eyes of Indra", saying that the body is a temple through which one experiences the Infinite--all knowledge and bliss flow through you.
anyway a good rendition of this mantra, at least helps someone like me find their inner peaceful place.

Listening to Snatam Kaur always brings me back into balance:
oh well.
whatever version matches ones taste, or ears 'approve of', do hope that the sikh community knows its contributions to some humans lives are appreciated. and that killing people's relatives or messing with them, for exposing a hundreds of trillions of messing dollars..no comment...again hope those peaceful people find an inner peace they deserve through all this.
thanks for sharing this other ladies version of it to : )

Marsila, thanks for sharing this mantra.
I know many Sikhs personally, and they are peaceful and beautiful people. My thoughts are with those who were killed and with their families and friends.... akal, akal....

I belong to Sikh religion and have followed it for all my life. Couple of years back on the path to Self -realization - I started thinking that I just not belong to one religion but rather all the religions of the world. I no longer think that I am 100% sikh or 100 % of some other religion. Rather I think myself as the child of that One Creator... Our Gurus were also children of the same Creator. They were pointing us to the Creator but instead we started worshiping the Gurus.
Anyways - this recent killing of innocent people is not only crime against Sikhs - but also towards Human mankind in general.
Here is the complete Mantra of Sikh religion with meanings in English also given. This is called the Mool Mantra - which is the first few lines of the Sikh Holy book and every sikh recites these lines.
Ek Onkaar
- There is only one God
Sat Naam
- Truth is His name
kartaa purakh nir -bhao nir-vair akaal moorat
- He is the Creator, Protector, Without Fear, No Enmity, The First Entity
ajoonee sai bang gur parsaad
- Never born, Self-perpetuating; With the Guru’s grace
Jap
- Recite !
aad sach jugaad sach
- True in the beginning, True Through the Ages,
hai bhee sach naanak hosee bhee sach
- True even now and says Nanak will be True in the future
Let me know if you have any Questions/Comments on this.

Thank you for starting this thread, and thank you to everyone who has posted.
My thoughts have been with those at Oak Creek since I heard the news.
I was thinking of how much solace, beauty and healing we find in nature. So I made this collage that I'm posting using creations by various artists, to send healing, and to honour the spirit of creation. The people of Oak Creek are in my prayers.
I hope it's ok to post this here. Thank you, again.

Thank you dear Shamz, for the Mool Mantra, and your words are right, these kinds of attacks target human part of humankind and not just a select category of it!
