View Full Version : 10 to 1 or 1 to 10 (ratio of forum members to guests)

I just looked to see how many people were browsing our forum, there were approx 100 members and 1000 guests. That really struck me, granted I have actually never looked to see how many were on so I have nothing to compare this number to. I'm just glad to see that many beings are "flirting" with our information and insights.

There's no better forum on the internet that I am aware of.
Thanks to all for making it so!

That's why the titles of posts are so important. So people that are just browsing the internet for information might find it easier to connect with.

TheOneTruth I think you will find Bob! :-)
Not quite the numbers there yet but the vibe is very positive.
PA is an excellent place too, but can be a little fear based at times for me, but still some amazing people and discussions.

Good point, pie'n'eal. I just added the parenthetical "(ratio of forum members to guests)" to this thread's title.

Thanks for the tip -- I took a look, but it says "by invitation only".
As far as the fear element, I once might have agreed, but I have come to feel that (both personally and collectively) it is neccesary to acknowledge and face one's fears, which can only be done by bringing them out into the open for inspection and inquiry. Focusing solely on the positive can create imbalance, whereas, in this world of duality, unifying the two aspects of our being is healthier, imo, and more conducive to our "graduation". Transcending duality does not mean that duality is excluded, but rather seen through, understood, and incorporated into a broader and deeper level of awareness. Otherwise, it's like the old saying, "cutting off your nose to spite your face."

I make great and relevant thread titles.
However, as advertizing gurus know, people are attracted to crap like flies on ****, so the threads I make..which do NOT have sensationalist titles, don't get the airplay they should have.

I usually drop in on a daily basis, but only sign in if I feel the need to make a comment. Like now. Members like me may skew the numbers of "guests" a bit.
Still, a very impressive number, a sure indicator of interest and impact.
Yay Avalon!

there could be lots of reasons behind there being more guests then online members.
i would like to see the numbers of guests increase.
it could be seen as a sign that people are waking up,
and while they might not, at this stage
be inclined to commit to joining as a full member
at least they are finding themselves here in one way or another.
s'all good really.
how many 'members to be' are in that number?
some may just be people who want access to the information,
but dont have the time for forum life.
it may be that even though the number of guests show's 1000
that there are multiple thousands popping on and off at various times of the day.
i wonder if it is possible to count the number of IP address's that visit.
that might give a true reflection of just how many people are in the background so to speak.
added a bit later.
lol , ok i read the op and posted. if i had have read the posts as well,
i wouldve found out that there is a way of counting the numbers.

In the last 15 hours, over 11,000 distinct IP addresses have asked our forum web server for some page or other. So the number of IP addresses is close to the number of guests plus members accessing the site. Makes sense.

mmmm, members would only be able to tell the number of guests on at the time,
whereas your numbers show the total number of visitors per day,
its still a lot more than the current number of visitors would seem to indicate.

BBC report: Testing a foetus for anger! A Professor interviewed on the BBC this morning (there will be a BBC podcast link soon), announced that they can now ...
Here is an article I wrote yesterday. What is funny is that I'm looking for the podcast or any additional information....and I came with my own article!!! It is very interesting that the BBC in the early morning comes up with reports that never see the light of day again. But this is why our titles should clear.

the next connected dot in that..is the web search filtering functions. this programming bit, the filtering of results bit... narrows people back down into narrow minded people..by narrowing their search results into their prior searches and their prior behavior.
Thus, curtailing opening and growth, in the human sense...that the web can bring to a person. All hidden away, unknown to the searcher. And when found, an excuse of it being a preemptive helping hand for the internet user, is proffered, as an answer..for the existence of this filtering function.
If one was not on the internet during the formative years, when there was no aspect of this filtering even remotely in use, one has no idea how open and amazing the results of searching for 'illumination' on any given subject... actually was.
now, We have to fight to find ways to cut this filtering out.
And if not aware of how critical it is, one will not note how insidious it actually is.

Most of the times , if I am not up to post, I stay as a guest. You can guess how many other members do same.
