Just found this from a brief item on BBC radio yesterday sat 18th Aug.....
I put it up just to show the current UFO apathy on mainstream and to
remind me how annoying and negative Nick Pope is to the community
imo. Nick has made no secret that he is bound by his MOD secrecy
oath and as he says at the end of the interview he is in touch with
his colleagues at the MOD.
I have always thought he is a plant , as nice a chap as he seems
and he may have a genuine interrest in UFO's...
Its amazing that over the last few years since his arrival on the
circuit he the 'Go Too' man by all mainstream media, so the
flow to the general public can remain a trickle....

UFOs: Russian or Martian?
The piece is on the link ...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/today/hi/today/newsid_9745000/9745363.stm
Speaking to the Today Programme on Friday, the head of UK Air Traffic Control, Richard Deakin said that, typically, his staff would encounter one unidentified flying object per month. But what sort of objects could UFOs be?
Nick Pope, UFO expert and former UFO investigator at the Ministry of Defence, told the Today programme presenter, James Naughtie that he had received around "two or three hundred UFO reports each year, most of which turned out to be misidentification of aircrafts".
He noted that "anything flying in our airspace that we can't identify is of interest to the government and the military, but is more likely to be Russian than Martian."

What I would like to know about this ridiculous man, is why oh why do the organisers of exopolitics events & UFO conferences have him as a speaker ?

Exactly it baffles me , he has two stock presentations one on Rendlesham and another about two other RAF bases...Both gave him access to the cicuit...
Nothing knew from his role as MOD UFO desk clerk, just the same old negativity....He says nothing of Top secret events ....
Thats why for years he just looks like a plant as a media liason officer for the MOD....
If I'm wrong I'l apologise but I've seen no reason to think he is at the cutting edge of UFO research say like Richard Dolan ...

Yes, i must agree Nick Pope is obviously not a genuine investigator, simply a bureaucrat that was given a slightly unusual office
for a few years. you can imagine his dinner parties where he trots out the dreary details amid titters of polite humour-
why do they insist on inviting him to the conferences, he is a complete dud?

Nick is totally mainstream...Fair enough , just beware !!
I forgot how embarring this interview is !! Nick has no
empathy with conspiracy theories and backs the mainstream
view of 9/11 and other events to the hilt !!

Pope has quite a following within the UFO community, mainly because he's on TV allot, and used to work at the MOD in the UK. For me this interview exposes Pope as a government shill, spouting the same scripted nonsense the mainstream media indoctrinates the sheeple with, guess his TV appearance cheques are more important than standing on the side of truth. If Pope cannot be honest about one of the biggest conspiracies there is (911), second only to the JFK assassination, then how can he be trusted on anything in this genre, the fact is he can't.

it's just simply that he was given the OFFICIAL job of investigating UFOs and was at first a sceptic and now is a believer.
But I agree with the above, he is NOT the know it all of Ufology... I don't know if he still works for the government, but whenever something is mentioned on UFOs on TV in the UK (which is very rare) he is there saying "there is no definitive proof either way" more or less. I have read one of his books, and it was very interesting.
I guess he is seen as the real Mulder in the UK..... x-files was a very popular show in the UK too

Its a mixture of all things. In the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, it was plasma, or the planet Venus or lunatics. Now its Russian or secret military aircraft. It is another diversionary tactic.

This is one of his better efforts where he talks about Dog fights with planes and UFO's and that UFO's are seen by pilots and tracked on radar and suffer from a image problem..
Thats whats frustrating for me, he obviously knows a lot more than he is letting on, Which beggers the question....Who's side are you on Nick ???
Or did his Bosses tell him to cool it down !!

He may of course be taking the view that to have any 'unorthodox' opinion on 9/11 is going to damage his credibility in some quarters regarding ufos. If so, he is surely mistaken. Anyone willing to hear about ufos is probably open-minded enough to prefer a more critical stance.
Conversely, someone like Amy Goodman may prefer not to play that card to get her Democracy Now programme out to a more mainstream audience. I haven't seen it for a while, but I don't think she ever came out in complete denial like Pope.

He had access to limited information yet he stated about UFO and military encounters, so where are these? He maybe a disinformant. Remember why release information people cannot understand or comprehend? If it i beyond their experience why release it?

They are alien and man made (american, russian, etc)
agreed, and those that can be shot down are most likely man made, ...those truely alien are probably harder to shot down cause of their more advanced technology
