Dan Smith
A native Angeleno, SMIF considers Southern California his backyard. Pop culture assaulted him at an early age and his only defense was to draw his observations for future reference. Commercial media, cultural underground movements and comic books were his companions in this experiment gone unmonitored. The public school system gave him basic literary and mathematic skills and grist for his mill. Forsaking the fine art route, he gained his foundation from graphic courses in college. Having had many different day jobs, (example: journeyman high steel structural ironworker), gave him insights on the human condition and hands-on real world experience.
During these forays into the real world, SMIF moonlighted as a powerful force in the paper gaming industry (15+ years off and on), ultimately earning an ORIGINS AWARD (the OSCARS for gaming) for BEST OVERALL GRAPHIC DESIGN for a Role Playing Game-Steve Jackson Games’ IN NOMINE, and two nominations as a game designer for his own card games BATTLE OF THE BANDS: ENCORE EDITION and the BACKSTAGE PASS supplement for BEST TRADITIONAL CARD GAME DESIGN, both produced by Third World Games.
His freelance work has run the gamut from print ads and cover work, to trade show elements and promotional items (and everything inbetween) for a varied selection of clients, including heavy hitters: USMP (The Marketing Arm), ANHEUSER-BUSCH, WALMART, PACIFIC PLAY TENTS, LIP SERVICE clothing, ANDERSON LITHOGRAPH (tradeshow and COMMUNICATION ARTS magazine), HASBRO, MGAE (BRATZ), FOX INTERACTIVE/VIVENDI UNIVERSAL, SABAN ENTERTAINMENT, THQ/MASS MEDIA, CALIFORNIA FEDERATION OF TEACHERS, MARVEL ENTERTAINMENT, SAN DIEGO COMIC CON, STEVE JACKSON GAMES, FASA, WHITE WOLF GAMES, ALDERAC GAMES, EAGLE GATE OPERATORS(tradeshow), ABSOLICIOUS RECORDS, BOMP RECORDS, THIRD WORLD GAMES, etc.
He is currently the head of the Los Angeles chapter of the Comic Artist Guild (CAG) and will be featured in it’s upcoming ICONIC anthology for both writing and illustrating.
His interests are Music, Cinema, Drawing, Dancing, Writing scripts, Literature, Alternative History, Architecture, Beatnik vocabulary, Card and Board Games, Fashion and uninterrupted sleep. (He’s a father.)
SMIF's emphasis is on creating groundbreaking, thought provoking imagery.

Disclaimer: Who Is (SuilF/SwLF)..??? :spy:
Golden Apple of Discord
An apple of discord is a reference to the Golden Apple of Discord (Greek: μήλον της Έριδος) which, according to Greek mythology, the goddess Eris (Gr. Ερις, "Strife") inscribed "to the fairest" and tossed in the midst of the festivities at the wedding of Peleus and Thetis, thus sparking a vanity-fueled dispute between Hera, Athena and Aphrodite that eventually led to the Trojan War[1] (for the complete story, see The Judgement of Paris). Thus, "apple of discord" is used to signify the core, kernel, or crux of an argument, or a small matter that could lead to a bigger dispute.

Here you go, Jacko, this might be the means, but not the end, itself.

I highly recommend the books of Robert Anton Wilson, specifically the Cosmic Trigger books.
