The United Nations has scoffed at claims by a Texas judge that UN troops could invade the southern US state to settle a possible civil war, which the judge warned could be sparked if Barack Obama is re-elected in November.

When asked if the United Nations had plans to invade Texas, UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon's spokesman, Martin Nesirky, said that was "absolutely ridiculous".

He later added: "No one, not even the United Nations, would ever mess with Texas."

He was responding to comments from Tom Head, a county judge in Lubbock, who told a local Fox News station on Monday that taxes needed to be raised so the county could prepare for contingencies if Mr Obama was re-elected for a second term.

"He (Obama) is going to try to hand over the sovereignty of the United States to the UN. What's going to happen when that happens? I'm thinking worst case scenario - civil unrest, civil disobedience, civil war maybe," Mr Head said.

"What's going happen ... if the public decides to do that? He's going to send in UN troops, I don't want them in Lubbock County. I'm going to stand in front of their armoured personnel carriers and say 'You're not coming in here'."

Mr Head told Fox News he has the backing of his local sheriff.

"I've already asked him 'Are you going to back me?' and he said 'Yeah I'll back you'."

You know, the UN just doesn't have any weight with me. They're a corrupted organization who don't have the world's interests at heart. If they were ever honorable, then they lost it a long time ago. All we have to do is look how they've been dealing with thcountries of the Middle East. Now they want to bust OUR chops. The UN needs to get their noses out of American matters. They can start by moving their headquarters out of my country. Can you tell I don't like them?

my own little awakening re the UN -- & up till then, i'd been a believer , having been a part of the East Coast Model UN Conference when in high school, in '63 or '64 -- students from all over the east coast, sitting in the seats, walking in the halls, following the models of debate, in the UN building

when writing letters for Amnesty International, i learned that the UN had situated a 'refugee camp', somewhere in poor Africa, on a mound of nuclear tailings -- i.e., on a highly radioactive bit of Earth

things that make you go hmmm...

Very interesting.

UN feeling the need to react to something ridiculous.
And concluding with "No one, not even the United Nations, would ever mess with Texas."
How is the militia movement doing, I wonder.

things that make you go hmmmm...

Are you going to INVADE the US? Answer, NO!

See, that is the wrong question. Try this, are you going to assist the US govt with civil unrest or an emergency if requested? Answer, YES absolutely.

What they call help you may call an invasion. I know for a fact that Russian and Mexican troops are and have been training just across the border to do house to house searches and gun confiscations.

The American people would not stand still for this. I would predict that if a civil war happens in the US it would come to a screeching halt the minute the UN decided to intervene . Then both would cease fighting each other and eliminate the UN forces. Come on with the UN invasion of the United States. It would simply unite the warring factions against a common enemy. The US has never wanted the UN dating back to the time it was called the League of Nations. It just does not fit in with the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Americans are isolationists at heart but our government keeps dragging us into this global B.S.

I would venture that every war our government has dragged us into since WWII has not been popular with the people. They just keep doing it anyway.

I don't think that those NATO troops realize that the same things will be happening in their own countries. So, while they're killing Americans on American soil, Americans will be killing their families in their countries. Or haven't these NATO soldiers figured that out yet?
Wish they all stopped this psycho game of the elites already. And please don't get me started on the UN. I'm hoping that an alien invasion will wipe that headquarters off American soil....

I love all these "ridiculous" things that end up happening e.g. World Govt, The CISPA treaty, The TPP treaty, men would walk on the moon, that the earth goes around the sun, the earth is round, etc. were all considered ridiculous until they were proven/occurred!!!

invasion : they're not gunna announce it as what it is , they worked out a long time ago if you call it something else the public takes some time to work it out , sadly some never do

the media of course helps to peddle the semantacised version of what's actually happening leaving out key details which is basically lying by ommission of truth

Don't forget little old 'Australia's Contributions' to the UN's 'Slush Fund'...:faint

Billions of dollars sneaks out the door through UN committees

There are billions of dollars of money sneaking out the door of Western Nations and being used to feed the monster bureaucracy, the UNFCCC and its cohort.

In The Carbon Tax that Ate Australia Tony Cox and David Stockwell point out the Australian contributions fly so under the radar (despite being millions of dollars) that even the Australian government seems to have forgotten they agreed to pay them. Greg Combet, the minister for Climate Change promises “every dollar of the Carbon Tax will be given back to the people”:

“Every dollar raised by the carbon price will be dedicated to supporting households with any price impacts, and supporting businesses through the transition to a clean energy economy. Because we are a Labor government, we will support the most vulnerable in our community — the people who need help the most.

But Combet in Cancun promised 10% of the Australian Carbon TAX as a tithe to the UN. (And there’s the $599 million as part of the Fast Start Finance program over three years that is in the pipeline.)

So which commitment will the Australian government break? Or, let me guess, in the world of spin, the government can give all the tax money back to Australians because the other 10% “of that” comes from … err… other taxes? (That’s how 100+10 = 100.) Well that’s all right then… let’s call it “tax-creep”. Could the carbon tax quietly be 10% bigger than advertised?

The Copenhagen Accord seemed like such an innocuous piece of face-saving wall-paper, but a river of money flows to its organizers and patrons. The US — past the point where it can pay what it owes as its foreign debts mount — committed $1.7 billion last year. The UK, facing mass riots over public spending cuts, has given even more per capita. The Scandinavians are punching far above their weight too.

From the Fast Start Program (http://www.faststartfinance.org/content/contributing-countries) site:

Ponder that this program manages some $5 billion USD (of committed funds) and 4 months after Cancun, (and 14 months after the Copenhagen Accord) the website documenting it appears to be the part time work of one man in the Netherlands. Perhaps I’m missing something, and the real official site is somewhere else. At least they are not wasting funds on glossy graphics, but it’s disconcerting to say the least that there are so few details. Are they kidding? Is this really the official site for a program this size?

Remember, as you admire the empty cells and out-of-date information on the Fast Start site, that this is what “transparency” looks like from the closest thing we have to a World Government.

The most generous interpretation is that these funds are merely rebadged foreign aid amounts that would have been used in foreign aid anyway.

But why shuffle them through the UN or the UNFCCC — the kind of people who aim to try to hold back a tide that is barely rising at 2 or 3 mm a year. I mean, levees to stop the ocean rising must be low on the wish list for countries where children die of malaria every day. Are children lost because some bureaucrat hijacked foreign aid to build a sea wall that will probably never be needed?

Thanks to Tony Cox and David Stockwell.

Just to put a razor fine point on it commenter Lawrie writes on the last thread that the Canadian wheat crop cycle is being cut short just as David Archibald predicted (thanks to UN aid, those kids who will need wheat to eat are getting levees instead):

“David Archibald is sure this SC24 [solar cycle] and possibly SC25 will both be short and weak leading to a Dalton Minimum type cooling. He also states that should such cooling occur the Canadian wheat crop would be seriously reduced. This is one of several stories coming out of the northern prairies: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-04-18/canadian-wheat-sowing-may-be-delayed-on-wet-weather-board-says.html

It seems late snows and melt are delaying sowing 10 to 20 days. The same region experienced a number of early frosts last year. Combine the two and the short growing season will see yield reductions. Maybe it’s La Nina and maybe it’s the solar cycle or maybe a bit of both. Either way cold weather equals less food.
