Just thought I would post an interesting / funny story that seems to speak to the interesting dynamics we see play out in society on a daily basis regarding ufology.

Saturday I was at the Exeter NH UFO festival. Great speakers etc. I was outside with a woman when she says "hey what is that in the sky!" I look and see a plane to my east and she points to the Northwest and says no there.
I look and see a white round object and observe it for 2-3 Minutes watching it move to the left and then far to the right. Initially I said I thought it was a balloon but it was so far away I Could not see.

The woman I was with decided to go into the hall where lectures were and get people. She comes out with about 20 people all looking at the sky. After watching for about 7 minutes, I notice the white circle moved a considerable distance but in no way showed any intelligent control. All the while I am saying, it appears to be a balloon but I have never seen a simple balloon stay in the area the way this one was.

A few minutes later the crowd of people leaves and I am told someone used a real high end camera and zoomed in and found that it was in fact a weather balloon and allegedly there was a letter or note on the bottom of it hanging from a string.

This leads me to the following hypothesis and observations:

1) People do not usually over react, especially when it comes to seeing an unknown object at a UFO convention. Everyone was observant, non judgmental and no one claimed it was a UFO or alien craft.

2) Seeing how I have never seen a weather balloon before and one is within miles away from a planned UFO convention with an alleged "note" at the bottom, one can assume it was planned specifically for this event. If that is true they FAILED to rouse mass attention and proved that in our case, people do not over react or see things that are not there.

I thought people would find this interesting as today this is played out on a larger scale with society. A micro example like this sometimes shows us where we stand as a society.

Don't know about a note, but weathet balloons carry a parachute and the box for data gathering on the end, or it could have just been someone advertising or marking the balloon, or experimenting, more people seem to be sending weather balloons up personally, getting photos from space and such.

About 20-years ago I was living in Raymond, a small town about 5-miles west of Exeter. One afternoon, while driving how from work along Route 101, a saw an enormous, metal object hovering just above the horizon to the north of my car. The object was black, appeared to be made of metal, was probably larger than a cruise ship and was shaped in a manner that defies description. I continued to drive as the craft/object continued to hover just above the horizon. I eventually made it to my home, got out of my car, stopped to take one last look at the horizon, then went inside where I promptly forgot everything.

Years later, while rummaging through a discount bookstore bin in a state more than a thousand miles away, I pulled out a book entitled, “UFOs in Exeter New Hampshire”. This immediately triggered my memory. I now remembered everything just as it had happened yesterday.

I’m not sure what it was, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t a weather balloon.

i spent my formative years between concord and pittsfield. beautiful place to live. my step-sister and i used to see bright lights in the sky at night, but we were young and attributed them to just being big stars or santas sleigh, depending on the time of year. thanks for sharing MMR.
warmest regards, corson

Since you couldn't read the note ... it was an Unidentified Floating Object ! :p

For some reason the Exeter NH area is quite a UFO hot spot. One evening about 8 years ago, after visiting a friend in Exeter, I was driving home along Route 108 heading north through Newmarket (just a few miles north of Exeter). Off to the west an extremely large, bright green fireball dropped slowly from the sky and disappeared beyond the horizon. I had never seen anything like it, nor have I to this day.

Anyone in the northern New England area might want to check out this conference, which is happening this Saturday in Gorham, ME:

Irt is really good to hear so many people who are familiar with the Exeter NH area. To those with personal stories like Fred Ryan RE the exeter Area and UFO's. THIS IS A HOT SPOT! I Live in Rochester, 4 towns from Exeter and 40 minutes in the other direction from me are the White Mountains where Betty and Barney Hill were Abducted in 1961. I am wedged between the 2 largest 60's UFO stories. My father was followed by a craft about 1 year before I was born and could see Grey's in the craft. This was South Hampton abd the surounding area.

ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO ON WHY EXETER IS A UFO HOTSPOT OR THEORIES!?
