"Apple has patented a piece of technology which would allow government and police to block transmission of information, including video and photographs, from any public gathering or venue they deem “sensitive”, and “protected from externalities.”
In other words, these powers will have control over what can and cannot be documented on wireless devices during any public event.
And while the company says the affected sites are to be mostly cinemas, theaters, concert grounds and similar locations, Apple Inc. also says “covert police or government operations may require complete ‘blackout’ conditions.”
“Additionally,” Apple says,” the wireless transmission of sensitive information to a remote source is one example of a threat to security. This sensitive information could be anything from classified government information to questions or answers to an examination administered in an academic setting.”
The statement led many to believe that authorities and police could now use the patented feature during protests or rallies to block the transmission of video footage and photographs from the scene, including those of police brutality, which at times of major events immediately flood news networks and video websites.
Apple patented the means to transmit an encoded signal to all wireless devices, commanding them to disable recording functions.
Those policies would be activated by GPS, and WiFi or mobile base-stations, which would ring-fence ("geofence") around a building or a “sensitive area” to prevent phone cameras from taking pictures or recording video.
Apple may implement the technology, but it would not be Apple's decision to activate the “feature” – it would be down governments, businesses and network owners to set such policies, analyzes ZDNet technology website.
Having invented one of the most sophisticated mobile devices, Apple now appears to be looking for ways to restrict its use.
“As wireless devices such as cellular telephones, pagers, personal media devices and smartphones become ubiquitous, more and more people are carrying these devices in various social and professional settings,” it explains in the patent. “The result is that these wireless devices can often annoy, frustrate, and even threaten people in sensitive venues.”
The company’s listed “sensitive” venues so far include mostly meetings, the presentation of movies, religious ceremonies, weddings, funerals, academic lectures, and test-taking environments."

LOL - So now fewer protesters will be buying Apple stuff. Nice marketing you idiots :)

Unless it has already happened covertly, then I predict that this feature will not ever make it into the mainstream.

I could transfer data through the telepathical mind, so there is no need for an IPhone which is totally obsolete. So i wonder if they have a patent to use against the human mind. Just a thought and no pun intended. LoL!

i think it's more geared at preventing protestors from being able to film evidence of police brutality and then upload it immediately to thier networks for distribution (and safekeeping), they'll then(police) be able to confiscate phones on site

Its to protect cops and big biz. no other reason. What other reasons would there be?

My view is that apple has been 'asked' to design this tech and this patent for this use exclusively.

But yes, bad marketing idea.

I think they mean GPRS not GPS. As with anything people would get around it, and it wont affect anything but the devices that are set to recieve transmissions, you could easily go into airplane mode, and ensure wifi is not on. Most it'd do is slow down anything getting out 'live'.
Be interesting to see if anyone does use it, most people would probably get round it though.

The thing is no one human on Earth as far as I know knows how to effeciently utilize real telepathy which is based on images, not sounds.

Not images either but rather, concepts and ideas - specifically thoughts.

Telepathy is the process of tuning (as in resonance) to the thoughts created in and from an "other-self".

I think you will find there are a largish number of humans that can do this, and the numbers are increasing. Most of them who do will not advertise the fact, since they will likely be wise to the shortcomings of such "announcements".

Yes, many of us can and do. And many more come "online" every moment.

For thousands of years, sea turtles have been employing tracking and geo location technology to navigate to and from the same few square yards of sand after traveling across vast expanses of open ocean. Birds with brains the size of a peanut navigate thousands of miles over land and sea, often moving through extreme and unpredictable conditions, and somehow, year after year, they find their way. All life can, and does, replicate, communicate and commune with "each other" ALL the time in ways that are profoundly amazing.

We are so impressed with a hand held device than can geo-locate and time stamp, and that we can track ourselves (and each other) with. Perhaps what we are really doing (unconsciously for the most part) is allowing ourselves to be surprised, delighted and amazed to rediscover our own innate capabilities. After all, we created this amazing little handheld device.

And btw, not only are we inherently (by nature of being sentient) already "linked in", we are also updating, communicating, and replicating information Holographically, and multidimensionally., we are doing ALL of this INSTANTANEOUSLY. Yes, faster than a speeding train, FASTER than the speed of light.

The lie that we humans tell ourselves, is that we are not inextricably linked.

The moment we dare to imagine that isn't actually true,

we are well and truly on- line.

I liken it to plugging in our modem. The cosmic pineal modem, that is :)

US PATENT 3,951,134 - APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR REMOTELY MONITORING AND ALTERING BRAIN WAVES
a subsidiary of ARCO called APTI (ARCO Power Technologies, Inc.) holds a patent (#4,686,605) which matches the HAARP proposal dealing with transmitting extremely large amounts of RF energy into the ionosphere.

This stuff is for real. They can sweep frequencies and project all sorts of stuff to you. Its pretty out there.
