I was watching CNN at 5:30 this am and saw the scroller bar beneath the picture say that there was a 7.9 earthquake today in China, which killed a dozen people.

Then right at 6 am... "Breaking News" Earthquakes strike China, and they then said it was a series of 4 and 5 quake with at least 20 people dead.. all while the two talking heads looked sheepishly into the camera.. wow.. what utter censorship..

All the maps have it 4 and 5, but google now says 50 or more with more deaths expected - From FOUR AND FIVES!!!

Suspicious News http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqtvZMCuQoo&list=UUTiL1q9YbrVam5nP2xzFTWQ&index=1&feature=plcp

He mentioned the quakes, then said more on this tomorrow, so he has the original data.. curious to see where and how it was so downgraded..

I know, the last quake to hit China was a 7.9... just telling you what I saw this AM,
Maybe it was in error, or maybe not... I really hope I misread it...

You might have seen the true report. Look at the initial figures: 700 thousand people victimized, 50 dead and 150 injured, 20 thousand houses fallen. The Chinese premier Wen Jia Bo flew to Yunan immediately on the day, saying, “No matter how difficult it is, I must get to the Yunan quake areas.” , treating it like what he did in the big SiChuan earthquake.

It was actually very close to where I live, and I felt it.

Not sure of the magnitude nor of the damage and casualties, but that's quite a mountainous area, full of villages and small, badly constructed towns. I'll come back if I find any more info.

Here is a reference to the scale of earthquake:

Earthquake Magnitude Scale
Magnitude Earthquake Effects Estimated Number Each Year
2.5 or less Usually not felt, but can be recorded by seismograph. 900,000
2.5 to 5.4 Often felt, but only causes minor damage. 30,000
5.5 to 6.0 Slight damage to buildings and other structures. 500
6.1 to 6.9 May cause a lot of damage in very populated areas. 100
7.0 to 7.9 Major earthquake. Serious damage. 20
8.0 or greater Great earthquake. Can totally destroy communities near the epicenter. One every 5 to 10 years

found in http://www.geo.mtu.edu/UPSeis/magnitude.html. I wonder if the scaling down of 1 or more is real. But how can it be agreed upon by all the world?

China has over 1.3 Billion living human beings living there.

If there are only 20 dead from an earthquake this is not a very important story.

When about 20 million folks are killed in a quake there, it will peak my interests

Other than that.......the show is over folks, the monkey died.
