This thing flew right over my and my daughter as we were getting out of the car at my home. This was no more than 50 feet above my head. I was not quick enough to take a pic with my phone, but i found a photo online of the same type of thing. The size looked to be about maybe 10 feet long. Fully equipped with cameras. I sn't this illegal?

I've bee seeing that exact same thing on a new Northrop Grumman commercial starchild, what a psy op this creature is. Watch for your windowless helicopter drone to the rescue of the beleaguered fisherman, right at the beginning.

Every time I see that thing I imagine this in schools soon: "Drones are our friends, AREN'T they boys and girls?"
I wonder what one was doing by your house, can you think of anything?

About a month ago, I saw one of those on the street one block over from me. It looked as though it had crashed in someone's driveway.

I think one flew out of my nose. Yes, I'm sure of it. :p
Maybe it was over my tent. Now I'm confused
I hate when that happens.

All these aircraft, including the predator..are so slow..that any modern serious attempt at building a radio controlled intercept aircraft, from parts and designs at the local hobby shop..with a few thousand $$ (maybe $3k-$4k, max) ..that aircraft would be capable of an intercept and recording of HD video of said drones.
here's a simple and cheap set-up in action. this is not even close to what one can buy and/or build these days.

I'm talking about stereoscopic video controlled flight, in HD, with about a 10km or 8 miles range. That's an easy one to do. (motion sensors in your HUD, or head's up display, your stereoscopic goggles...and then motor controlled stereo cameras on the plane that respond to your head movement --yes, this gear is out there, much to the given government's dislike)
So.... you can get up there..and follow the drones around.

Well, Im a TI and am used to having regular flyovers from various unmarked planes. But this was for me over the top invasion of my privacy.

LMFAO Carmody, that's a winner man!!! http://www.bigtenfever.com/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif
Hell, that sounds like even more fun than target practice...

This invasive practice should be outlawed, or at least have regulations. This thing was pretty big , but i sure wish id gotten a pic of it. it was white, looked just like a helicopter without windows, and had black wheels.

Not for nothing. The TSA bothers me a lot more than these things. Different degrees of suckitude I guess.

Tell you what Rad, I'll get back to you on that, once we're informed that they're now being equipped with a state of the art, fully automatic shotgun feature. For our protection of course. http://nexus.2012info.ca/forum/images/smilies/newadditions/wink.gif
But in the meantime, a toast to Carmody's "Drone Hounds". http://www.bigtenfever.com/forums/images/smilies/cheers.gif Talk about some pure you tube entertainment...Can you say viral?

I just had a flashback........When i was a child growing up in NY. My Dad gave me my first Chem -Zooka. I said Dad this is cool whats it used for. He said someday when they start artificially engineering the weather in the sky using airplanes and leaving cloud formations from Brooklyn to Florida take out your Chem -Zooka it will come in handy and help save the planet as well. He also mentioned something about drone -copters too. Heres a pic of me when i was 9. Hope you like. : )

i was not sure about speed. i went to a large hobby store and inquired. i was told..maybe 60mph (105kph).
But then, I did a search on youtube, and found plenty of planes like this.
Oix6sHKzOLU
(glider, apparently)
So..much slower than that.... for a more feasible and long flight time..is reasonable. the higher the speed, the faster the fuel or battery use. Thug an over-sized plane, with large surfaces, that has a wide speed range. Thus it can catch the drone and then ....follow, track, and so on.
The drones max out at about 120mph, or just shy of 200kph. Thus a long a flying time plane that can catch them and then follow them, capture video of them , is entirely possible.

I saw a couple of these a few years ago. Didn't know what I was looking at, but eventually read about them. Being tested maybe back then - in civilian areas. They could glide, stop, and hold a position for a few minutes then suddenly advance a few blocks. They weren't small. I noticed they were windowless - white - and at that time, weird to see.

OK. A turbine type plane, properly done, for range..could get up to 40-60 minutes of flight time. If one was to use a prop-fuel type of RC aircraft, I think that the flight time might be doubled. Prop planes bring speed limit problems, turbine planes bring fuel consumption limit problems.
Don`t mind me..I`m just going through the preliminaries, as an exercise, to see if it is even possible, in the way I guesstimated the possibilities. Now, the remaining issue is radio control distances. Drones move at 100mph, likely, on average, so this means the RC plane as a tracker, would have to done in a moving car, or similar.

If someone finds the frequency of the drones it could go bad in a hurry, or all of them could crash on the same day. Our government has enough remote control already, they don't need drones in the air with 6 billion on the ground ( people ) . this should be stopped now.

There are fairly high odds that a drone that has been isolated via radio interference or similar, is going to be able to locate itself positionally via varied means, find a way home or to one of a list of alternative landing points..and then land itself. These things cost a fortune, so i suspect they have at least some form of rudimentary self landing capcity.
For example, IIRC, there have been experiments where an 'Airbus' aircraft has self landed itself, via computer..... 600+ times in a row.

My husband came in from outside yesterday saying he saw a drone fly over the house. It sounded much like the one I saw crashed in a driveway one street over from us about a month ago. We both noticed that they had no markings on them and were completely white.
