I thought it might be interesting to make a single thread encompassing all my experiences/attempts to go OOBE - I've already made a thread about an interesting dream experience (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?46751-Interesting-dream-experience) I had which involved trying to go OOBE and sharing my experiences may be helpful to others, and help me keep track of how I am progressing. A huge source of information is the excellent thread started by another bob Adventures Beyond the Body (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?47841-Adventures-Beyond-the-Body) that is full of great information.

Discussion is freely welcome (no worries about thread hi-jacking from me ;)) as long as we stay relatively on topic.

Woke up this morning from a dream I had about being back to work stuck in a cubicle in front of my old boss who I hated. I thought to myself how sucky it would be to be back working for him when a colleague reminded me that I had left this place and would be starting a new one when I get back from vacation.. I relaxed and woke up.

Woke up and wanted to go back to sleep so as I started drifting off I repeating in my head “I am out of body NOW” many times. It didn’t take long for me to start feeling vibrations in my body and started hearing bells and other strange sounds (can’t recall exactly what). I tried to visualize our living room to move OOBE there but it wasn’t working, so I tried the rolling out technique with no success. Finally I lifted my arms up and felt a sort of de-attachment – I saw a pair of hazy, translucent arms lifting up out of my body, but the rest of my body seemed to stay anchored in place. While my arms were out I tried lifting my legs up and getting up off the side of the bed (as I would if I were awake), but what happened was that I actually moved my physical legs on the floor and I woke up (I was in-between being awake and sleeping and I guess I got myself up).

I tried to get back into the state of mind but wasn’t able to as I was too distracted and couldn’t concentrate on getting the vibrations back. After a few more minutes of trying to get back sleep I got up and started writing so as not to forget. Interesting notes:

I felt the vibrations (again, starting from my lower back) very quickly
I heard bells, waves, and the constant vibration thumping in the background, as if I was standing next to a power generator. As best as as I can type it, it would sound like whum-whum-whum-whum at around 130-150 beats per minute roughly estimated
When attempting to visualize the living room so I would appear there I thought to myself I might be scared ****less if I suddenly appear away from my body. This is interesting because I don’t really have any fear (more accurate to say fear doesn’t control me). Maybe because this is all such new territory the slight apprehension is normal, even though it seemed out of character
The translucent arms were very interesting. I was definitely in the near sleep state and very conscious and really did see my arms come out of my body. I had relatively clear vision when I saw them come out in a translucent way, and I don’t believe it was via physical sight that I was seeing things.
As I started to feel the vibrations come on I started taking deep breaths and was breathing quite audibly – shame this happened so late/early that my wife couldn’t confirm with me.

I’ve tried over the past few weeks to induce the vibrations as I fall asleep with no success – having just finished Adventures Beyond the Body and now starting Secrets of the Soul by William Buhlman I’ve been trying some of the techniques. Tonight was great as using repeating the mantra “Now I am OOBE” brought the vibrations on fairly quickly – hopefully next time I’ll be able to fully detach and start exploring!

I heard a humming bird sound, or buzzing sound and thought I was dreaming. OBE is real , I was awake once when I was flying over the ocean on a full moon night warm and safe. Some one was with me and a voice said , you not supposed to be awake yet go back to sleep and I did. It was freaky. They can't attack me with psy any more as I am aware of what they are doing. the ptb think they are sneaky , they are not. Just like the matrix they have rules, I , when outside my body have no rules, it's my world and they know it.

Wow!!! Thank you for sharing! You are definately doing the right things. Whenever you get to the point where you feel the vibrations, try and 'relax INTO' the vibrations. The 'airy bell' sounds and other energetic pulsing is coming from one or more active energy center (chakra) in your energy body. Usually the crown center will bring the bell-type sounds. It is typical for a projector to have one or more active centers, during an exit, perhaps even 'exiting' from a specific center.

Many times I have had the problem with only being able to free up my arms. If you can grab onto something, you can usually pull yourself all the way out. It is a mind construct thing,,, you mentioned that you felt that you might be scared if you were to appear in the other room... Try and remember that your new environment will be 100 times as thought responsive as the 'physical' environment. Fear is the single most important barrier to get around, in the astral.

You are on the right track. Keep it up! Many advanced projectors have found that any ONE exit technique is not enough. Keep trying different things.

Also, keep in mind that you are NOT going to have William Buhlmans' experiences. You are going to have YOUR experiences!!! For example... 'Clarity, or Awareness NOW!' has never worked for me. Apparantly, it works for william!
I have always had to find my own 'work arounds' when it came to 'snags' in my OBE attempts.

I am excited for you!!! Yes, keep your journal right here at Avalon. Others may learn from it too. Keeping journals sends a powerful message to your higher self, that you want to 'keep em coming'...

Good luck and congratulations. Good exploring, Jake.

Thanks for the encouraging words! I truly feel like I am getting closer and find myself eager each night before going to sleep hoping I'll have another experience.. very interesting what you wrote about you having similar incidents where you were able to detach only your arms - I haven't come across any information about that specifically and will try what you mentioned if/when it happens again to pull myself out.

Even though this is very preliminary I can certainly agree that not everything Bulhman suggests works for "me" but using him and other sources as a reference definitely gives me the tools to find what will work for me. I've tried many different techniques over the past month to try and induce it but haven't yet figured out the trick to it. It seems to happen mostly when I wake up in the middle of the night and go back to sleep before completely waking up. It's funny, in the past 2 years I've bounced around between so many interests trying to find what would click with me and I'm coming to realize that this may be it - I hope to add more journal entries over time here.

PS Just wanted to say that I've read through 1/2 of your book so far and absolute love it (I usually ready 4-5 books at once so it takes me longer to finish each one :)) - I can't thank you enough for taking the time to share your experiences and knowledge!!

It seems to happen mostly when I wake up in the middle of the night and go back to sleep before completely waking up.

In 2010, I participated in Robert Bruces' P.A.P.I. (practical astral projection intensive). One of the most helpful points of agreement with all of the participants, and Robert was that the best time to practice toward an OBE, is after a short sleep.
1, You have already reached a point of 'deeeeep relaxation' that is required for OBE.
2, Your waking conscious is ready to fall into 'sleep-trance', as it was just into one, before you woke up.
3, Your energy body will have a natural 'glow' to it when you first wake up.

Also keep in mind that your physical body goes through the stages required for OBE every time we sleep,,,, the trick is to stay awake and aware through the process. Mind/Awake-Body/Asleep. That is the formula!!!

Never EVER doubt your ability to project. It is as natural as breathing.

And, thank you, for the kind words. Anyone on this forum who knows me, will tell you that I will be sharing information about OBE and Astral Projection as long as I am able,,,, In fact,,, I am shouting it from the rooftops. The ability to project is what is going to give us the platform to stand and be completely sovereign individuals, as well as communities.!! It is the key that will expose any shadow group!!!

Just a handful of projectors now,,,, just wait. We are waking up all over the place,,,, You are one too,,,, NO?

Welcome to a new paradigm. Now the REAL fun begins... :)

Oh don't I know it - I feel like I've just been taken on the tour of my new first grade class and will be starting classes at the big kids' school shortly.. ;)
