I was considering Canada's recent un-relations with Iran and I came across this gem. Rather an ironic background to all of this....

Have you heard about those "centrifuges" at the center of the supposed Iranian nuclear threat? It turns out that they were sold to them by none other than Mr. Richard Cheney, then head of Halliburton. Better yet, this is VERY old news. From 2005 in fact.

I think someone got some 'splainin' to do!

I think we have a crisis of leadership in our world, i.e. leaders who inflict harm on people (who are seen as 'collateral damage').

Choosing violence (any kind of violence - terrorism, offensive and defensive wars and attacks, including sabotage and sanctions) always leads to inflicting death, pain and suffering on people. Convincing yourself that you have a noble and just cause (as Tony Blair is choosing to do) in no way changes that. Death, pain and suffering is not noble, and those who persuade themselves that it is are deluding themselves.

But maybe our leaders are a reflection of who we are, and we basically are not civilised enough to put the happiness and welfare of others above our own sense of what is right and good, no matter what the cost.

Just a bit of philosophising from me!

War is already being waged against Iran, through sanctions (which I see as a crime against humanity) and sabotage. Syria is a playground for leaders to play tit-for-tat games, while the people in Syria are dying and suffering every day (and the liberation groups are part of this game). Israel is retreating into fear and paranoia, as is the USA (if only we can find and destroy everything and anything that could threaten us we would be safe). And so on.

Shame on all of them!
