I think that is the whole point is why they are considering to attack, politically it makes more sense to them now than after, especially if obama is reelected as polls suggest.
At this time it would be hard for obama to take a strong stance against Israel without losing votes, also the danger of him being seen as weak against the "Iran threat".
Also there is the danger they (israel) could use a false flag event against the U.S.A. as they did before with the USS Liberty in 1967, which would complicate matters
even worse. Also if Iran is attacked by Israel, then they could try to close the strait of Hormuz in retaliation, which the U.S. has already declared won't accept.
I agree with you as it seems a direct route to WW3, for this I think should at all costs be avoided.

Bahai teachings are so focused on building the foundation of a future society that it is forbidden to even consider taking sides in such matters.
Party politics is also forbidden, although the believers are encouraged to respect government and to vote during elections, for the best applicant.
while keeping their opinions in such matters private, so as not to add fuel to the duality and cause further conflict.
There are prophecies which told Iranians to get out of Iran already in the 1930s, and certainly long before the 1978 revolution, and those Bahais that left it too late suffered incredible consequences. I met one woman who escaped from Iran by crawling onto a boat headed for India, surrounded by a herd of sheep, covered with a sheepskin, while she was 9 months pregnant. Her parents were later martyred in Iran. I have endless such stories, having met these people in person during my active Baha'i years.

I left the community 12 years ago as I started to have doubts about the current leadership...but I may well be wrong... There is always more going on behind the scenes than meets the eye.

In order to make the distinction one has to study the system of government which Baha'u'llah foretold would one day become commonplace....and which is democratic as well as corporate. No party politics. It is unique, although has some elements of socialism, but is structured like a corporation. The main feature is regular elections, secret ballot, although I would like to see it taken even further and have term-limits on the office of those who sit on the International council, which is called Universal House of Justice, and which is considered by Bahais as an infallible body which all must obey.
So there is the catch. As Bahais are supposedly non-dualistic, disobedience is wrong and divisive, but that also opens the door for elements in society that want world control and to take over. Only the spiritual alertness of the believers can then still save the day as election time draws nearer, which for the international body is every five years.
