View Full Version : Do you think you will exist without end?

If you believe you will exist forever, for all eternity, what part of who you are will survive?

Clearly our thoughts, emotions, personality, opinions, memories, karma, etc. does not have an eternal presence.

So what is it that is part of our being that will be the part that could possibly exist for ever?

Could it be our minds? Pure awareness? Pure consciousness?

Picture a spinning wheel and you are a drop of ooze in the center. As the wheel spins the ooze spreads out and out until it becomes invisible to the eye! But it is still there, spread out over a great expanse.

I've never liked the idea that the drop of water that represents my being will someday contribute to the ocean of all that is. That is until my right hip started to hurt all the time, and my face was full of lines, and my career was finished. So I am now ready to contribute in my very small way to the ocean of being.

Your mind will fade and all doubt will be left behind... it will just be your soul who flies up to it without hesitation!

Nice question Midnight. Just 2 small points - think and you. No think, feel some part of me exists beyond time. Think is in the brain - is impermanent. You is relative. What are you ? If Rigpa/pure awareness/subtle energy, then yes exists beyond time - even now in life. But if this consciousness was created from source, then perhaps one day it will return to source and all that is identified as separate will be no more. I know that my 'subtle consciousness' had a beginning and I think it will have an end when it returns to where it came from. Every river finds the sea. Let go of separateness but embrace relativity and there is no desire for eternity.
:nerd: Cheers, Bright.

Yes. Something like that.

Time is confusing.

Eternal has no meaning if time is removed as a reference.

Take time out of the equation and then you have to wrap your head around the paradox of ending, beginning; cause and effect which cease to have an operating context. All of the linear time-bound structures that enable us limited incarnatees to think in an ordered and logical manner get messed with.

My answer however is yes and all of me, which is all of you as well :)

At my current age, I have no desire for eternity. But that might change when I am removed from the illusion.

Examine this concept with the head and we get nowhere. Examine this concept with the heart and we realise that we are already everywhere, and everywhen, and eternally in a place that the mind can not fathom. There is greater wisdom to be had from spending one second truly in our heart, than in spending a lifetime in our head.

Hello, about 3 months after my mother passed on she came to me one night as i was falling asleep, she physically touched my cheek, i recognised her as herself in the pure essence of love which then passed into me.

"Without end" means unending time, a.k.a. the "ever after" or "sempeternity". "Eternity" is, however, beyond, above or outside of time.

The body I currently inhabit exists in space and time and anchors me to it. But what "I" am throughout eternity is not material - take away the material "you" - your body, and your possessions and you begin to discover the true "you".

"You" exist both in the here and now of spacetime, and in eternity of the higher dimensions. The sensual material world you perceive will eventually give way to the ravages of time, but its spiritual aspects also exist outside of it with "you" in eternity.

At my current age, I have no desire for eternity. But that might change when I am removed from the illusion. We all are looking at things from the 3-D point of view and the challenges we face through time here do take a toll on us. The only way to escape our prison is through death yet death IMO is also part of the Illusion. I had a OOB experience in 2009 where I rose above my body and felt FREE and full of energy that I can only describe as electric! As I went through the roof I found myself high above earth and remember my thought was this as I looked down upon earth " That is such an insignificant planet" then I heard a female voice say "go back it's not time yet" and I instantly came back into my body. I've heard her voice 3 other times so I do believe she is one of my spirit guides.

Everything is consciousness.
Consciousness is a soul(s) having an experience here in a particular dimension we call 3rd dimension, which is a consensus reality dimension.
The dimensions are as numerous as thoughts.

We in the purest sense are conscious energy, which exist forever, evolving and growing as we experience ourselves in an expanding wave of awareness.

There is no matter, there is no real universe, just the illusion of it.

As far as I know yes. I only experience now. Even when I remember things, I remember them right now....no now. You get my meaning. So IF I die, I won't realize it I dont think. YOu since I will no longer be conscious. As long as I recognize now, I will exist.....until now is something else. ;)

There is No 'time'...

All there IS, is Eternity

You can choose to believe there is life after life in the many forms of belief teachings that exists. One can conclude this belief by using near death experiences information. Information from other such as dimensional realities can be used to influence one’s beliefs.

If having a life after life belief results in having a more loving life now, choose to have this belief is my conclusion.

does this means I have to clean the house?

Sadly, i think some part of me, if not some components of the me that is now, will live on forever. Things get boring.

So we do stupid things, trying to be different. to look around the odd corner that we've never seen around. Except that is not true, as all corners have been seen around, all experiences have been experienced.

So we do crazy things, like remove chunks of our awareness and play games as a 'human'.

I don't worry that some part of me will exist forever..I'm afraid....that it will.

Anyone here can take off the veil.... anytime they want. A bit of self hypnosis goes a a long way.

Afraid of the boogeyman? The big bad Fed? The globalists? Why?

Afraid of death? Why?

My body has residual body affiliated fears. The rest of me is bored to tears, in some ways. It's been a long time since I ever felt or saw the point in anything. This whole world is in a state of unreason, and I have to remove half my intelligence, just to get a sense of wonder back, sometimes. The only people whom I tend to have truly interesting and meaningful conversations with are when they are dying and self honesty creeps back into their terminal view.

If body and mind were all there is then that would be true.
And most of the time that applies to me, too, so I know where you are coming from.
But being an enlightenment junkie myself I also know that there are those other states, where the real self resides.
If it weren't for those brief moments when I managed to sneak outside of my mind into that other awareness I would want to do myself in for good.
When I'm there it doesn't feel like I've lost my mind, yet there is no boredom nor judgement. It's to do with states of awareness that all is 100% acceptable, whatever comes. There the thought of it all going on forever and ever does not create the slightest sense of tedium, nor is the idea of acceptance an issue either. There are no issues.

I can't remember exactly who said this...but here is the root problem for us all. "Don't think like a human"! When we think like a human we do ourselves a great injustice.

We tend to think that everything is as we think....it is.... but that thought is very limited.

stop thinking like a human and see what happens.....things might become clear.

Just a thought....no?

You might become aware.

Great post - and accurate observation.

Here's what I would add to that: Just because there are not words to describe something, does not mean that you should not think it. One does not need to be restricted to linguistically structured thought. Recall as a child - before your language was strong with you, the way you used to think. It won't be easy because there are few words to describe it, therefore your brain does not recognize. Practice thought without words, imagine with colour, shapes, feelings, symbols, and words -- allow your mind to operate within the entire range it was intended. It is weird and hard at first, but just set a small amount of time per day to practice non-linguistic thoughts - sounds, light, music, scenes, anything -- not linguistically based, and see just what that might do for you, you might be surprised ;)

You are not limited to the "You" you think you are, except in your own reckoning. In "death" you will recover this. The real trick is bringing this awareness to the forefront of your actions in your current incarnation. The Human reflection of your true Self can be whatever you want it to be from here on out -- completely re-invented from whoever it is you believed yourself to be prior.

I tell you, you will go into Death thinking you are the raindrop, and on the other end of it realize that you were the ocean. Then you will see us there, and we will have a big laugh about all of this.
