View Full Version : Help me pick an Avatar?

Dear Avalonians,

I have inadvertently committed a faux pas in the selection of my avatar.

Apparently, my chosen graphic is frequently used by other websites that are not in good favor here. I did not know this upon choosing that avatar.

As cool as I personally think that Avatar is, I am obviously going to have to replace it. Now I face a conundrum - what if my next choice carries some meaning to which I am ignorant? Yikes.

So, if anyone has any suggestions I would be grateful for the help.

Helpful Stats:

Female

DOB: 21/9
Favorite color: green
Money making vehicle: Messenger/ Previous: Senior Management (didn't like it- everything you believe about them is pretty much true)
Marital status: Married, ten years
Children: None. Three unfortunate miscarriages.
Residence: United Kingdom (near Cotswolds) United States: Lexington Kentucky
Hobbies ( too busy for them this month but..) I have a small hobby farm with horses, goats, chicks, dogs, cats. Currently being looked after by a relative.
Mission: To assist in the rapid re-awakening of our species.
Previous associations to other AM sites: None, lurked here for over a year prior to joining

Thanks to anyone who is interested in making suggestions. Take a look at my current avatar. I really liked this. What does that say about me????

I like your current avatar just fine. It seems to fit you very well. I'm not sure how something like that can be unfavorable, I have had avarars of the same style artwork and nobody fussed at me.

It says you are human. : ) I see why you like tht artwork, but I understan because of the conversation with WCBD why you may want to change it just for a fresh start. I kind of like this one.

Personal preference... Try not to worry about what others think. If you like the lion, keep it. It's yours to decide. I think the lion is personally majestic and beautiful. Perhaps other sites have used this before with a negative resonance... so be yourself, own the image as yours, and uplift the resonance!

On the funny side of things... look at PurpleLama's avatar... I find it hysterical! Whatever floats your boat Arig!

From the Heart,
Kristin

Lurking for over a year huh lol Just like the Lion, Camouflaging itself in the field waiting patiently for the moment he will spring into action.

This will help with the conundrum, I hope. A half wit quote, sorta:

"It's interesting how the fascists are always the first to co-opt the word 'Freedom' ".

The point is that parasites always live in disguise. That is part and parcel of what and who they are.

Which is part of the odd reason that Lion and Eagle, and so on... have negative connotations among the half aware, or the 'becoming aware'.

The lion thing is over done IMO.
I think it has to reflect who you are, but also say something about you.
mine are always geared to wards that.

Just do what feels right if its a touchy subject well then maybe people need to realize it is just a picture, no big deal.

I think this would suit your needs nicely.

But Green Fairy isn't just another name for absinthe: she is a metaphorical concept of artistic enlightenment and exploration, of poetic inspiration, of a freer state of mind, of new ideas, of a changing social order. -http://www.absinthefever.com/green-fairy

That is a super cool avatar! As are the others above. I've been wanting to give absinthe a try, perhaps book Oscar Wilde's suite? Wouldn't want the same outcome.

There's a lot of hype and miss-truths about the affects of absinthe.

An alcoholic is as one does weather one drinks absinthe, whiskey or wine.

Great pic, wouldn't it be nice to have something so beautiful and serene look after us in our times of need and remind us of what we can be!

What about you real picture?

PurpleLama
26th September 2012, 18:21
Yes, I often have my real picture, with my hanlde bar moustache (which is way more hawt, btw), as my avatar, but I change often depending on what inspires me. The purple power ranger is this weeks way of communicating rather comically (successfully) that I ain't scared, as it were. I don't remember off the top of my head what inspired it, I'd have to go back through me own posts to the day I changed it at this point, which isn't happening. Either way, I felt the need to bow up, and that's how I did. It amuses me to do this sort of thing.

Hands on out thrust hips, I proceed. Everyone should follow suit. Misunderstandings happen, miscommunications happen, even to the best of us.

I have to express my sincere thanks to who ever it was, on the thread that inspired this one, who brought to me the image of Fred clad in flip flops, a beer, and a bat. I shall take that one to the grave, for sure.

Your thread gave me an idea AriG, and that was to get a new avatar of my own...

I hadn't really thought about it before, that the avatar we choose could effectively represent who we are, what we are, or what we are looking for. I sincerely wish you luck in your search!

Anyway I finally got round to changing mine today, prompted by this thread. I choose this symbol, which for me stands for peace, unity and the unification of spiritual understanding.

In response to Bill Ryan's submission

I am incredibly humbled that you have joined in and that you have bestowed this lovely image. Thank you so very much. Green fairy/angel/absinthe drinker it is.

Because I'd like to keep my head attached to my neck.

I loved that lion, but I think it just conjured up too many negative connotations that misdirected attention away from my words. What did Hubbard say about imprints especially for infants? Technically speaking, I am in my infancy here. Note, I am not into Scientology or a member of any religion, but there are certainly kernels of truth in all of them.

Do you think that re-inventing ourselves is a form of salvation? Very nice avatar indeed.

The Green Faery I know don't drink no absinthe. She is way too magical, as it is. I liked the lion, but I cannot fail to support your latest choice of avatar.

Note:

spelled Faery not Fairy.

Word to the wise. They are ticky about this, god knows why.

Why don't you put your picture on here instead ?

Because I'd like to keep my head attached to my neck.Ahhh, that's over-rated. Your head could stay home and watch movies, while your body went to work. It does scare small children, however. And if you eat a snack while watching the movie it all just runs out onto the sofa. So, now you have a much harder decision than a silly avatar.
