In the list of attacks Exomatrixtv and Sons of Liberty and M2tuff, and BarbarianRebellion TV Plus many more prominent truther channels.
Seems like this person talks about ad sharing and gets in through skype some how.

This is why I don't make contacts with people who approach me. For any reason.
I make all choices in contact and in initiation of contact, to prevent infiltration and any potential damage.
How aware and dedicated are you?

I don't get how talking to someone on Skype gives them an edge on hacking their youtube channel (outside of perhaps gaining clues to guess a weak password)

I'm not sure myself, having little experience with either.

Talking (whether via text, audio and/or video) to someone via Skype should be no more risky than talking to them on the phone.
"Giving someone access" to your Skype is just answering their Skype call, or giving them your Skype name via email or some other means, so they can call you on Skype. It would be like giving someone your telephone number, and then when they call, answering the call (rather than ignoring them when you see them come on your phone's Caller-ID.)
... or so I thought.
My guess is that during the Skype call, BarbarianRebellion got talked out of some more useful information that was sufficient to let the hacker into his youtube account.
So perhaps the lesson is the same as when talking to a policeman that you don't trust so much ... anything you say can and will be held against you (or used to hack an account of yours) ... so minimize contact and say nothing.

Suggestion:
Use something like PasswordMaker (http://passwordmaker.org/) or LastPass (https://lastpass.com/) to make stronger passwords on any account that you care in the slightest about (banks, email, youtube, ebay, paypal, online stores, avalon, ...).
No one is going to get a clue of my Project Avalon account password by talking to me because I have not a bloody clue what it is :). I literally would not recognize it if I saw it. All I know is that it's bloody long and complicated with lots of random bits in it.

So, i guess my first assessment was the correct one. :p
Be on your guard at all times. In all ways. specifically when someone initiates contact with you. That is, if you are working in those areas. Do not breech protocol. As it can be seen, the mistake is invariably a human one.

Paul, you have just provided a clue for hackers :(

Yup - that's part of good security - similar to the reason that open security software is better than proprietary. If it's designed well, one can tell the enemy the design, and the enemy can't do anything about it.
The alternative is security through obscurity, which presumes you can keep methods, procedures and algorithms secret "forever" ... you can't count on that.
So, yup, hackers ... you can skip trying Jack the Ripper on my accounts. Go straight for the "lotsa random bits" bazillions of tries approach.

You have also hinted which password randomizers you use :( Hope you dump them quickly and write custom software youreself :) Thera are other methods of gaing control of phorum account than brute force. Phorum engine is not a secret. So its source code. There IS a bug somewhere waiting to show its claws :( I have learned that the hard way :(

Your reference to phorum (http://www.phorum.org/) software puzzles me ... we don't use that software for the Project Avalon forum, and besides what software I use to generate and manage my various account passwords has nothing much to do with what software we do use on this forum.
(Oh, and I do have a custom password generator. It takes 30 seconds of time on a high end CPU to generate a single password, but generates some long strong random passwords. It's overkill for most people's needs.)

Phorum is not a software name. I have made an error. It should be forum of course. The engine name is at the bottom of every PA page. The fact it is not so open source makes it more vulnerable to hidden bugs. There is no such thing as bug free software. I hope PA forum engine was implemented by more advanced and experienced software engineers than me :) I do not like to see any PA account being compromised... Any such thought makes me sad a lot..

Our Project Avalon forum uses vBulletin, which is one of the more seasoned and well supported forum software platforms available.
Of course, nothing's perfect. I am sure that the NSA could have their way with us if they wanted to badly enough.
As to whether individual accounts, on this forum or elsewhere such as Youtube, are compromised usually depends more on what the individual person is doing to maintain the security of their login details, such as using a different, unique strong password for each of their accounts.

The following few links below are to some prepper videos on youtube that now no longer work and I think this is not just by chance either. I think it maybe tied with the other Truther videos that have also gone down or have been so called “Hacked”
I believe this maybe part of some government internet kill switch with the compliance of youtube. I have been following MAINEPREPPER’s videos for some time and all 177 of his videos were working fine just the other day and now only a few of his work. At one point while trying to get one of his videos to play I got a notice saying his channel had been shut down but it gave no reason. I also am noticing lots of other prepper video channels that I have watched recently are now down.
( Edit: these links below now work for me, for some unknown reason they were not working even after rebooting so I don't really get whats going on maybe I caught youtube running some kind of test?)
just a few examples of vids that no longer work.. at this time there are many many more!

Maybe in time these youtube links will work once again, maybe its just a temporary glitch. I don’t think its just my computer as I've rebooted and they still fail to play and other non controversial videos play just fine.
I sure hope this is not the beginning of the end of Truth, Freedom and Liberty on the internet.
I don’t intend this to be fear porn or anything but this is seaming quite scary at the moment, like some crazy movie but its real!
Edit: please disregard this my post for now as the links are now working, still I find it quite strange that for a period of time they did not work while other videos did work. sorry about the alarmist activity)...
