I just seen live on Fox News being reported on live, a man in a high speed chase get out of his car and shoot himself in the head right on TV......Fox News (Shepard Smith) said their 5 second time delay malfunctioned and he apologized to all the viewers for showing that graphic scene......

This is probably going to go viral.

PS: It almost looked like they knew something bad was going to happen and did this on purpose! I could see a pistol in his hand quite easily and stepped in front of the TV so my daughter couldn't see it and that is when the guy pulled the pistol up and put the pistol to his head and shot himself! He quickly went down, it was beyond obvious he shot himself!!!!

WOW! Thankfully my young daughter didn't see this crap........

UPDATE: I just found this.

FOX News Broadcasts Suicide Live On Air
NEWS ALERT: Fox News took journalism to a new low this afternoon. After broadcasting a live high speed car chase on air in Arizona this afternoon, the network followed the assailant as he left his car and took off on foot into some brush.

What happens next is terrible. The assailant pulled out a gun and shot himself in the head on live television.

News anchor Shepard Smith, to his credit, begins to scream “Get off it! Get off it! Get it off!” to someone off camera in an effort to stop the broadcast. Unfortunately, Mr. Smith’s effort was in vain as the network broadcast the suicide live.

YBH! does not know if CNN or any of the other cable networks also broadcast the incident live.

Yeah, it's going viral, there's news articles popping up every where about this right now!

WOW!!!

I have not watched much TV since 1976. However I used to watch the 6pm news for 30 minutes most days.

I stopped watching TV news in 1998 because my 5 year old daughter started asking me questions about Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky. Well I knew it was time to stop watching the news :-) How do you explain that one to a 5 year old?

So thankfully when 9/11 happened we were not watching the news then either...

I occasionally watch MSM, but I have to apply "The rule of opposites" to pretty much everything they say to get any truth out of it. I'm waiting for one of these journalist to hold up a bright red tomato and tell everyone that it is blue!

That's odd, I literally watched a film last week that that happened in.

I really hope this was just a technical error... but wouldn't be surprised if this was done just to create shock value entertainment.

If it wasn't an error, creativity must be at an all time low if they are stealing ideas from films.

Would be good if people started boycotting fox for this.

The network couldn't have known this was going to happen. That would be taking "Wag the Dog" just a shade too far. The screwup was not having the five second buffer activated.

They're conditioning people to get used to this "morbid reality" more; I've noticed they are showing a lot more gross stuff (blood and dead people in war zones etc) and many of these new series coming out on TV are quite violent and graphic in nature (more so than usual).

But this today was quite real and in your face.....it wouldn't surprise me if they "screwed up" on purpose.....

Note: They NEVER show anything in real time! Not even a football game!

wow Kimberley , that is amazing........I have rarely watched the news in my life......always felt even before I knew what was actually going on there , that it was a waste of time........however, I did get sucked into the 9/11 news for weeks .......watched it like I had never watched tv in my life.......that was before any of the TRUTH came to me.....really wish I hadn't been so easily sucked in ...anyway, I cannot believe this was an accident.....the have 5 second delay do they not?? or is that a myth ?

Bill, I immediately thought the guy had a gun in his hand when he first exited the vehicle, he then ran about 50ft and fell and rolled over and I could see something black in his hand that (I personally) couldn't think it was NOT a gun....he then ran a bit farther and stopped like he was facing off with someone.

Fox News had to OBVIOUSLY KNOW something bad was about to happen (Either the guy shooting at cops or the cops shooting him), that's what I was thinking......never thought he would put the gun to his head and drop himself!

It was right after he "faced off" you could obviously see him chamber the pistol and then put the gun to his head and then drop himself bigtime..........even with/if a 5 second delay working, FOX was pushing this to the limit!

I'm sure there's probably a clip of this on youtube by now.....it was obvious a disaster was in the making, yet Fox just kept on it till the end and then blamed the 5 second delay.....(They were probably expecting the cops to shoot him down)

Like silent feathers has said, even sporting events have the broadcast delay.

For this to go unnoticed is a possibility, but the flip side that it was left of is still a possibility to... especially when they don't even show award shows live so they can cut out swearing.

P.S. I wasn't meaning that they orchestrated the chase so he could shoot himself... in case that's what you though I meant, lol. I merely meant that they let the live broadcast remain on so a potential bad situation could be broadcast if it developed in to one, which it did.

How awful. What drove the guy to do it?

The conspiracy-theorists will no doubt claim that they deliberately showed this... and perhaps they did... just for the fear-porn/shock/horror factor.

I do watch the news, and on a daily basis. However it is for a different purpose than the large majority. I watch it in order to gain a general shape of the media mood, and to look for signs and signals of anything ‘alternative’. I watch for patterns.

Most of the time I sit back and shake my head at the madness of ‘everything’. It's a sad world in a sad situation. I sure don't allow it to dominate my thoughts though, or bring me down.

Those that know me on this forum know that I seldom "buy into" ANY wild sounding claim about anything by anyone without looking in to it further or seeing some form of proof....

This event going down sure didn't look like it was going to end up with this guy sitting down having a beer with the cops and everyone laughing about it.....

If this was accidently shown, Fox sure was using piss poor judgment.....it sure looked intentional to me, especially knowing they NEVER show anything live.

But of course accidents happen, someone could of been sleeping on the job near the off/on switch! LOL! yeah right!

EA my being a commercial radio broadcaster for 30 + years I know that talk show formats do have the 7 second delay device... However I personally have never used one because for most of my career I was a DJ and we recorded the calls we used on the air and did not play live calls. I do not know about live TV NEWS.

And as far as 9/11 ... I heard the news at a meeting I was attending that morning... I turned on some radio news and was on the internet... I went to bed at about 9pm and woke up at about 12:30 am and decided to then turn on the TV I watched it for about 30 minutes and saw the footage probably 4 times in 30 minutes and never went back to the TV news since then.

So I have not watched TV News since 1998 except for the 30 minutes on the early morning of 9/12. I do not read newspapers hardly ever either. I do look at the front page of the Boston Globe some days to see what the public spin is on the news.

Much love!!

They may not have known it was going to happen but they may have purposely not used the delay. They certainly try and promote violence and fear as a broadcaster so this fits in with their overall strategy.

Seeing the video, looks like the guy was really desperate to escape the police, and the decision to kill himself looks like a very one the spot decision, got to wonder what drove him to that. He supposedly only stole a car, maybe if he even had previous convictions, a few years in prison maybe. Could have been on drugs, affecting his judgement. Just usually hear of people killing themselves after a murder or multiple-killings but hardly ever for taking a car.

It could have gone either way, either a suicide or a shoot-out with the police, they should have had a larger margin to cut it off in time, then they would have not so much of an excuse, but don't think they were expecting exactly what happened so soon, could have easily been done for some sort of value to the network, It's probably done more damage to Fox for most of the viewers, I very much doubt they will ever allow it to happen again with anything.
The whole live chases and everything that Fox does seems like only there for more entertainment than anything informative.

Hard to know the actions of humans living in the manipulated environment along with all the energy being focused at us to make us all tense and unpredictable. This is truth if I ever read it! ghostrider,if I could thank you 3 times I would. One thing I try to remember when I'm talking to someone is that there is something going on in their life. Your plate ,my plate, the guy next door plate could be overflowing, having problems, so spread a little love and joy when you can. The man committing suicide no doubt had problems so I just say a silent pray for him. TPTB do use silent weapons on us all and if your under some drug or something the effects can be deadly and no pun intended toward the suicide victim....

Well... I see that it's generated a whole lot of 'interest and speculation'...

I think it worked...

Reflect upon what emotions it caused you to feel and what thoughts these emotions provoked.

You will find your answer within with enough reflection.

That broadcaster seemed somewhat disconnected to me. Just my gut talking. And also just an observation not a conclusion.

Shephard Smith actually explains that they DID go to a 5 second delay while it was happening so as to make sure if something bad occurred it WOULDN'T air on TV. He mentions that the gap in his voice, which you can hear if you watch was when they went to the 5 second delay, "as if you were to bleep back your DVR five seconds."

For those with the stomach: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkGphC5hxuM&bpctr=1348940285

So that's weird. They were on the delay, and they still showed the footage. It's ugly, and disturbing, but mostly because you know what's happening. The actual image itself is far away and there's no graphic-ness per se. He holds up what looks like a gun, and then drops, no sound. Not pleasant, but nothing like the blood baths shown in the cop shows and movies.

I'm not advocating anyone watch it, BTW, I just wanted to hear what the newscaster was saying, first-hand. He says the stuff about the delay AFTER the incident, during his personal apology for the airing.

Add to this SilentFeathers reminder that nothing is really live and you gotta wonder why they had to go to a five second delay as Shephard explained.

It does make it seem/feel intentional by someone. But there's no way to prove or know that from the clip.

It was going to happen sooner or later. I really wasn't too surprised, but saddened. Yes, I was disgusted, but our society is really desensitized to violence. This just seems to be the next logical step.
