Immediate Recognition

Nearly six years ago a man came into my life who I immediately recognized from somewhere else. The moment I saw his image on a picture I had a daunting experience that I knew him but not from this world while at the same time I felt that I was looking at a mirror of my soul.
I finally had the courage to meet him in person so I went to his yoga class and the moment he saw me I could see from his facial expressions that he had had the same daunting experience.
About 2 and a half years I ago I walked away from having contact with this man because I felt that the immediate recognition of each other and the expansive energy that we shared together while in the presence of each other was too terrifying for him.
I have a hard time embracing reincarnation and the idea that we keep coming back into this world a repeated number of lifetimes which to some people would suggest that I recognized this man from one of those lifetimes. I do believe in reoccurrence rather than reincarnation which suggest that if all is consciousness then it is that precise vehicle that drives us to our next dimensional level of existence carrying with us our unique essence.
Perhaps there's truth in soul tribes in this universe and this man's soul is composed of the same elements my soul is made up hence the immediate recognition, or there's something else I'm missing here.
Would love to hear some input on this matter...

Yes, we are indeed part of soul groups. You may enjoy browsing the threads here on the work and discoveries of Dr. Michael Newton, in the archives. For myself, I saw a small post on an internet forum over a decade ago, recognized my own Twin Flame, and when I wrote back, she acknowleged I was the one too, and shorty thereafter we left everything behind and moved in together, and it has only gotten more blissful and telepathic since then. Lately, it feels we might just go up in ecstatic light, just from the mere proximity to each other! We know that we came here just to experience this together, and in doing so, to let that recognition expand to include the whole totality.

All of the above plus possibly - twin flame. This page will provide you with the most clearest of explainations on the concept of twin flames. Relationships with you TF can also be the most difficult to maintain. Due to karma and negative outside influence. (I have known a few TF couples.) Soul mates are often much easier of a relationship because they typically less intense ie have less karma to deal with.

Gloria, I too have has such experiences, actually a number of times in my life both with men and women. It seems to me that these encounters were largely designed to help me to remember who I am. I understand how your twin flame would be over charged by the experience for such experiences are surely several levels energetically beyond the norm.

I dont know about souls being made up of the same elements To me it is simply souls that have had interaction before. It could be very much like a tribe thing though. I sense that that very well could be what is happening for some of us... and on a grander scale than just an encouter with a single sou, l I feel that I have encoutered my tribe from other times/life experience in this current reality... a hard one to explain... For some people I suppose its just their immediate family but for me it is literally thousands with which the connection is recognized, and I have met them, and journied with them and loved them and worked with them and sang and danced with them as we resonated in our soul cords and soul vision. I have not been permitted to live my total life with them though. I had other tasks to do but it is a perpetual comfort to have known and been with them as I now walk in uncharted adventures more alone.

I strongly recommend to you that you find someone to help you with past life regression if this relationship continues to dwell in you with too many question marks. Although, I myself did not seek such counseling for my ability to experience self regression in current time came spontaneously. I knew what was happening when it was happening. There was no need to further expound on the circumstances with assistence from someone else. I have had regression work done though but not to investigate relationships I was having but to merely try to understand that which I could not see on my own.... it may be helpful to you and in ways that you may not anticipate.

Is he aware enough to find interest in this phenomena if he could view it in a way to be explored instead of avoided?
Some way that wouldn't be threatening? He is aware of it? Or not?
It might not be what either of you could imagine. Probably not what you might assume.


It's your call, but what you won't explore you will never see. Those kinds of experiences definitely touch on the sacred. Confirmation that there's
something else afoot in this world that we really are sensitive enough to acknowledge.

All of the important relationships in my life in any possible context, were instant recognition. Crucial experiences in my discovery of 'me'. And a lot of passing acquaintances that I knew immediately.
or maybe just for their genuineness which I appreciate, and it wasn't a memory at all. It actually doesn't matter.
And it doesn't have to be soul mates and twin flames. That's all very glamorous and mystical and exciting....but it's often storybook. Sometimes to help us give up on fantasy.
In reality, it will be what it is and have a purpose in it.
That's far far far more important. And maybe the purpose is already served.

What matters is that you acknowledge it, so that you're not in denial of yourself. That's you perceiving with a set of equipment you didn't know you had. Now you do know.
There really IS something else afoot
Whether you obsess about it or follow it through or it drives you to madness, or you just stuff it far enough away to not be bothersome,
it served and eternally serves a purpose. You can see a bit more of who you are.
Even by just raising the question.

Or you can do it all in your own mind, and bring it to a conclusion that shows you what you need to see.
Don't force it to be what you want now, just be honest.
And it doesn't need look like finding out about the past, because it's you and him in the present. You can be pragmatic and vulnerable at the same time.


I've had memories from other 'selves', but only ones I needed to still work through. Big impressive ones, but mostly traumatic or tragic.
Maybe we put those things off sometimes and get gentler help than having to reliving them to end procrastination. I don't know.

That's not to convince you of reincarnation. All I know apart from how I view it through personal evidence, is that I've always been me.
No matter what was going on around me. Maybe it's all just dreams like they say?

I hope you figure it out. There's something really special about the story, even if it ends with the OP. Maybe because those experiences have always opened doors that were too heavy for me.
Maybe there's nothing any more explosive than whats already been, but I get the feeling you're more driven than to not explore it.

Wow, sounds to me like you're having a twin flame experience. Many people are encountering their twin flames during this time period which you will find to be fairly evident as you explore some of the posts on Avalon. So it wouldn't surprise me if that's what is happening to you. It truly is a remarkable experience and I encourage you to explore. I discovered mine in 2010, and it was/is my oldest and dearest friend. I can't believe I didn't put two and two together until then, but I suppose that is due to not having the vocabulary or frame of reference to describe what was happening. The two of us have always clicked no matter how much distance is between us. It can actually be fun delving into the concept together as my twin seemed to enjoy what I was uncovering. In our case we found that we were having similar experiences....we literally seemed to be mimicing one another. For example, we both bought the same computer, make and model number without knowing what the other was doing, both were former athletes, both had near death experiences in the hospital at the same time, and both of us have injuries to our backs in the same location, etc.....We also found that we have the same taste in food. Unfortunately for us, though we remain close, my twin has chosen to play a dark role in this lifetime and myself being on the opposite end of the spectrum will not be walking down that road, so there is no union. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to have recognized him and I think he is too. I only wish I would have done it sooner.

I strongly would consider taking a second look at reincarnation as you may find many answers within. Since we know we are consciousness that means we can go anywhere and once you grasp that concept it makes reincarnation a very real possibility. There are many stories out there that I believe prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that people are reincarnating. The details that young children describe of their past lives solidifies that much more in my mind that reincarnation exists because one has to ask themselves where could they have obtained such accurate information if reincarnation wasn't true. The story I'm thinking of in particular is that of a young boy who was a pilot in WWII and at age 7 could describe the plane he flew in great detail.

I hope you both seek eachother out once again and take the opportunity to explore in more depth without the fear, because it truly can be a wonderful experience once you understand what it happening to you. Best of luck and let us know if anything transpires!
