"The introduction of the Universal Credit next year, which will see six work-related benefits rolled up into a single payment, potentially opens the door to a similar system in the UK."

"Some, including Mastercard, which sent along a representative to the Demos fringe meeting, are pushing for the combined payment to be loaded on to a pre-paid card."

This is another way to control the masses by controlling what they spend their money on.
Mastercard make me laugh bringing this "Pre-paid" card idea along considering the banks are the ones who caused this.
Who caused the recession which made people unemployed and put people on benefits in the first place???? BANKS and then they have the cheek once people have lost their jobs and houses they have been paying off for years to come up with this pre-paid card system idea.
In my opinion this is just telling people what they can and can't have and what they can and can't eat and what they can and can't wear.
I know people who have worked all their life but because of injury or old age related illness can no longer work and they also would be subjected to the humility of this.
I can see riots coming :-S:peep:

Well JP Morgan own the post office accounts (which benefits are paid into) I can't see them wanting to lose out....

If Mastercard can give out pre-paid cards though then the banks have all the power. Who is going to argue with the banks because they basically run this country.
