Those that care win!
It doesn't matter how clever, how rich, how powerful we are, if we do not care...we lose. We will remain puffed up. We do not have to be clever, rich or powerful to care.
The problem is, we are sentient, sleeping buddhas, so we cannot care absolutely...yet. However we can act as if we are, buddhas! Fake it! This isn't so terrible, as it gets us in the right mood, and we can learn to be responsible. That is, able to respond to the needs of others.
Unfortunately being impermanent Governments, secret clubs, government agencies, corporations, military, law enforcers are made up of beings just like us who believe they care, but only care about their group. They all have a 'common purpose', of self preservation...so do not care about the whole. They will never find joy, as their system will be incomplete, in lacking genuine love.
We hear and read them day after day justifying their actions, and think we do not notice their agendas. They all collude to control events. We just have to be careful we are not part of 'their' plans!
As sentient beings, caring about others can wrench one's guts out, so we have to be skilful.
We cannot 'put it all right', because everyone has to evolve at their own pace. Meeting carers may accelerate the process! We can care in whatever we do, by seeing actions through thoroughly. Be it cleaning the trash bins or meeting someone else's mind... and heart.
Our intent may not be totally pure, but at least we are facing in the right direction.
We do what we can, and at least do not cause harm.
There is a longing in every sentient beings heart to care, and be cared for.
The result of wisdom is caring, and that is why we are here.
If we said this prayer every day it might help:
May all sentient beings find happiness.
May they be free from suffering.
May they be free from the cause of suffering.
May they be free from likes and dislike.
May they dwell in the realm of great equanimity.
May they find joy in caring.
