Wait a minute... this is the same "britain" that announced to the world about 9 or so years ago that there was absolutely zero evidence of any aliens at all whatsoever in their known universe?? Come on now, what government on the planet of earth is going to obtain a budget to be ready to fight something that they are certain does not exist?

Mentioned in another thread about aliens and humans defending against them... we could not realistically. Its thinking on human terms that aliens would come down, and be as weak as us.
Energy weapons would be a very real possibility. Weapons that could destroy a building in seconds, kill any human just as quick, shoot down missiles, aircraft, destroy land vehicles. Potentially physical and energy based defences.
Whose to say aliens don't even have regenerative materials, so even on the off chance that anything could penetrate armour, that its not repaired in seconds, if they are even close for military weapons to reach them.
Basically, there is so much that aliens would be better at, if they wanted to take us over, it would be the end.

I don't think a race that destroys others, would even be able to survive to reach the point of meeting us, they'd have collapsed long ago under their own violence. Maybe if a race got technology ahead of their time perhaps. Maybe we'll see someday, though I'm not personally concerned about any aliens invading us any time soon; :D

Well said. We have but to look at our world, our behaviors and how things work here. A few powerful, corrupt and ambitious individuals in positions of influence can turn a larger group of people, who are not as focused and determined in any direction they choose. Why and with what evidence would anyone think it would be different on another planet and a different race? With what evidence can anyone say anything about what another world is like or what they would do?

If this is the truth of the situation, then why would anyone here believe that any ET races that may be here are friendly, or hostile? Without better intel, we don't know how to tell a friend from enemy when it comes to ET. And can we really just go on what they may say? Or not do?

Prudence, and simple logic and actual wisdom dictates that we need to be very cautious and united in purpose and ready for anything if we (humanity) is to engage with ANY ET race. We are not there yet, not ready. And yet, ET is here and engaging some of us. Does that make anyone feel comfortable?
