View Full Version : The Game

Probably most here have seen "The Game" starring Michael Douglas. If not, real quickly he plays an arrogant rich guy, who accepts an odd birthday present from his brother whom he has no respect for. The present is "The Game", and after a tedious psychological profile is completed, the game begins. It turns out to be much more than he bargained for, and by the last 8 minute scene here, having been surrounded by superb actors, he finally believes that everyone is out to get him, including his brother, and that his fortune has been stolen.
Please watch the clip, even if you've seen it before, it's worth the few minutes.

As Shakespeare said" "All The World's A Stage". Well, the older I get, the more I think he was on to something there. We talk about good vs. evil, light vs. dark, but let me ask you, who were the supposed "dark/evil" ones in this man's "game"? Or were they rather a "catalyst"?
How many lifetimes of gurus and/or self help books would the Michael Douglas character have had to ultimately slog through, to reap the same benefit he received in a very brief time, which broke him right down to his core being, and obliterated many of his delusions in one fell swoop?
When he stumbles out of that deflated air bag, he is a man born again, just like in the Bible. He is free, atleast to a much greater extent. So I am putting forth the argument that we need be hesitant in judging dark vs. light, and the idea that dark needs to be defeated and vanquished. Metaphorically speaking, in this movie, the "light" is his captor, and the "dark" is his liberator. When we are busy trying to push away "bad" people and "bad" events, we may often times be unwittingly pushing away bread crumbs leading to our ultimate freedom, which we all seem to crave for so desperately.

LOL, I was just thinking of this movie about 20 min. ago and I was going to post it on another thread. It's the perfect example of one of the truths being hidden right before your very eyes. It's the game of duality right on big screen.....a mock of the illusion we all live under here on planet Earth.
¤=[Post Update]=¤
The "bad" should be embraced just as much as the "good" as they are the reason for our awakening.

Hi Fred,
Thanks for posting this :) It is my favourite movie of all time! When I first saw this film, for about 48 hours afterwards I really did look at everything that happened in my life and just wondered whether any of it was actually part of "a game" - this film definitely made me look at things differently.
And how right you are about learning things experientially rather than in books - "prickly presents" as I have heard them described before.
Cheers,
JC

My reaction is this. We all chose to be in this game of duality, and we have played both sides to the extreme. One lifetime we are the tyrant, and another the victim, yet the co-creation is an agreement on a soul level between both souls participating.
So, everything occurs in perfect balance. The universe can be no other way. It is said, that the most difficult experiences to go through are a co-creation with your twin flame, the opposite aspect of yourself who loves you beyond any measure. This other soul is often willing to play the most excruciating game with you for the ultimate lessons, and often times our judgments are against those who love us the most and are playing a part for us to "get it" finally.
So, embrace that which you are experiencing and be fully "in it", so that part of your energy field can be fully carved and able to accept the imprint which you are working on integrating in this lifetime.
If you judge them, and stay in that judgment for many lifetimes, it becomes harder to break that groove, and thus your soul will choose more challenging experience in order to break the judgment.
This movie is a perfect illustration of how our perceptions determine our reality, and how each energy is just one aspect of the whole, and is neither good or evil from a soul level, but was set up by YOU and your co-creator from your soul family, and is only a judgment in it's polarized state before it is integrated into the whole.
One day, when we are all fully realized beings and we have played both sides of all aspects of duality, we will sit around and laugh at the judgments we have made, and how many lifetimes it took to get just one small aspect of the full spectrum of consciousness done!!!!!!!! (inordinate number of exclamation points!)
ROFLMAO!!!

Order out of chaos or chaos out of order? Can't have one without the other, balance between the both somewhere in the middle is where we can find stability.
But now it's all a game, the one with the most money and toys wins! freaking ridiculous in my opinion!

It sounds so much better coming from someone with experience of communicating with the masses ( Fred you are blessed with this ability and we are blessed to know you)
The truth is becoming clearer the nearer to the truth we become.

Whilst we are looking at embracing light and dark, good and evil why not bring in Man and Woman.
There is not one without the other, we are both.
Even Noah's Ark had a male and a female of each species.
We would benefit from having respect for each of the sexes and accepting that Men have their parts to play and women have theirs.
The Women should nurture and the Men should provide, the Men have knowledge the women have wisdom, we need each other to balance out strengths and weaknesses. (Dare I say that? Why not )

Aaah, but do they really win?...or is that part of the illusion? I guess it depends on how you define winning.

No one wins.....systems break down, things fall apart, and we start from scratch again....(those that are still around that is). Historical cycles tell a rather vivid story, some cycles grow with intensity.
This cycle change will be a very intense "game" changer.....

Nice post Fred,. i think you are a hundred percent right when it comes to the notion theres not really something like a strictly defined good versus evil,.
as for bad things being good or the other way around,. since my job is that of a taxidriver i bump into alot of people so to speak ;) a while back i picked up this cheerfull guy,. with something just a little of (not good or bad,. just different) turned out he had a heavy car accident, before the accident, he had his own company suplying lunches to goverment employees,. he was doing well and making money, good money, he told me before this accident he couldnt apreciate the smaller things in life, was always hasty and preuccupied with the money he made. After the accident everthing changed.
from a financial perspective his life didnt got better, from humanitarian perspective it did,.
or so he told me.
Another example is a man who had a stroke,. young man late 30's he's now wheelchair bound and lives at a special facility still visits his ex wife and kids every week,. his wife though got a new friend, and from what i can see everything goes in a friendly way,. still,. i see his sorrow,. (and cant even begin to imagine the pain he must feel) yet he remains (tries to be) positive, but when thinking about karma, and live lessons,. i wonder for this man,. and wonder for myself and all of us.

Really, no one wins? I'd only agree with you if I was still in 3D. There is much spiritual growth during tumultuous times such as this, which was the point of my earlier comment. You cannot have extensive growth if Mayberry Lane is in full swing; this is the benefit of living in duality. The point of the illusion is to help you win and you can only do that when both polarities exist. Those who are still in 3D place value upon material items, but the real prize is what one gains through life's lessons that enrich the soul.

I have been put in a very similar situation when my partner became disabled 13mths after our second child.
I had the decision to stay or go, I knew everything was going to change he would no longer be the physical person he was to me or his children.
I think we were lucky that we love each other enough to get through the bad times.

We see what we see and it may not be all that pretty sometimes, but spiritually it is what it is and that is what we must get right within ourselves more than anything else, nothing else matters.....
It's not all about being politically correct, it's about being "spiritually correct".....nothing else matters. What is going to go down likely can not be stopped at this point and odds are it won't be pretty.......
Freedom doesn't always mean to win......especially in a spiritual sense.
PS: I do not even consider the 3D, 4D, 5D etc etc et talk.....we are all "here" right now, calling it 3d or 4d etc doesn't matter nor make it any other place than what it is.

I love 'The Game'. And yes, this planetary drama we are engaged in is ultimately for our own good. I think it was Bashar who once remarked that Earth is a "master class" and that we are thought of as "the masters of limitation". That idea really resonates with me, and I wish more people could think that way rather than dwell on the idea that we as a race are persecuted or essentially not good enough or whatever.
'The Game' has been said to be influenced by the novel 'The Magus' by John Fowles, and I do see a resemblance. I love both and recommend them both highly! In a way, what is going on in those stories could be a metaphor for what is going on in 3d reality on Earth. It's an alchemical process that is happening here, and so the word "catalyst" is very significant. That's the word Ra uses in the Law of One books to describe negative forces as well, indicating that there is some sort of metamorphosis that is supposed to take place due to its presence.

so true, fred. it's the "dark" and "negative" things that happen to us which facilitate growth, not love & light. and what ultimately matters is not what happens to anybody but how they respond to it. it's much harder to respond in a "positive" way to a "negative" stimulus but that's what soul growth is all about. very few people on earth have reached the point where they can do away with negative stimuli. for the rest of us we're in for a lot more stimulation in the times to come

Perhaps there is no higher honor bestowed in the universe, than graduate of "Earth Game". If we could ask an Earth Game graduate for their #1 tip, I expect it would be something along the lines of: "Stop falling for the old light vs. dark routine. They're all you".

Another great movie is "What Dreams May Come" It's a story about a very happy couple, and the children die in a car accident, the mother blames herself, and the mother adopts a belief of abject grief and despair, commits suicide and winds up in the underworld stuck in her beliefs. The husband, who is in heaven, goes into the underworld to rescue her. The last scene is the reincarnation of both souls as little children, starting fresh and in love. It's a great story if you have not seen it. It illustrates how our beliefs and judgments create our reality.
Here's just some scenes.

I saw that film (The Game) years ago and thought nothing of it, but when I watched it again recently,
I thought my God!, that's just like an initiation ceremony into the Mystery Schools!
Like being pushed out to sea in a boat without a paddle, or spending three days in the tomb before being 'reborn'.
Did you notice that when Michael Douglas came out of his grave in Mexico he was wearing a white suit?
Another film I've seen recently with lots of initiation symbolism in it was '127 Hours' by Danny Boyle,
it could have been such a boring film otherwise.
I wonder though is it necessary to go to such extreme lengths to achieve a new perspective on, and appreciation for life?

You know, I think it probably is. We realize a certain something about ourselves, something deep within that we hadn't noticed was there. And it can't be taught, only experienced. As far as that aspect of ourselves being connected with Mystery Schools, if the student has made it through the event, the teacher can look them in the eye, and know that they are now ready to "see".
The burial scene you mentioned was quite striking in the symbolism. Another one that struck me as well, was the scene at the end where the whole audience is applauding in approval after he survives his big jump. Looking at their faces as the clap, they seem to be saying "welcome to our ranks, you've earned it".

Well, whatever you say, I am still standing in line for my turn to this 'Game creator's' office, straightening out the wrinkles in my garment, ten pages on one hand and clearing my throat , when this game will be over. I have some suggestions for improvement, no more than twenty, fifty, one hundered..
I hope there will not be too much pushing, I really ought to get my number soon :p
Thanks Fred. Great thread, great topic, great thoughts, and I pretty much agree with all of you ~

Hi Fred and All..
Such a simple statement which so few might comprehend.
Perhaps there is no higher honor bestowed in the universe, than graduate of "Earth Game". If we could ask an Earth Game graduate for their #1 tip, I expect it would be something along the lines of: "Stop falling for the old light vs. dark routine. They're all you".
Just bear in mind that much confusion and misinterpretation has made things appear so complicated that we fail to see the simple truth which often is right in front of our eyes. I would just remind us that only we, as individuals, can verify this truth of the game of life, and no amount of debating or reading seems to satisfy us. As we ascend out of the illusion of the lower mind the breakthrough will come and light will pour in. The irony of the matter is that we, who are so desperately seeking the light, are our ONLY 'worst enemy', and until we recognise and identify the real cause of our struggle the sooner we will live in peace and be filled with love...a love which will break all barriers of conflict between us for ever here on earth.
If we don't see life as a game we have lost the plot...
Only the intense efforts of those who wish to control us has indoctrinated us into believing we are in some sort of trapped condition. These 'controllers' are mostly ignorant of the facts, but there are those at the top who know these facts and use them, and they have taken materialism and separation to the heights of competitiveness, which has lead to our capitulation. They use many techniques to keep the fires burning and this puts one up against the other.
Whilst we are locked into materialism we will be slaves to their game.
They are more than often cleverer than we are...only because of our own blindness.
This materialism is evident when you consider what is known, in biblical terms, as
the 7 deadly sins and they are:
Lust – to have an intense desire or need, as in Porn etc.
Gluttony – excess in eating and drinking.
Greed - excessive or reprehensible acquisitiveness, which leads to corruption.
Laziness – disinclined to activity or exertion.
Wrath – strong vengeful anger or indignation.
Envy – painful or resentful awareness of an advantage enjoyed by another joined with a desire to possess the same advantage.
Pride - quality or state of being proud – inordinate self esteem:
These are the basics which the 'controllers' use to keep us locked onto this world.
The other thing to get our minds wrapped around is probably the most important. This is the feeling of guilt and the mistaken idea that life is holy. This idea comes from religious indoctrination and makes us slaves to some God out there. Life is NOT holy, life is about living in, and abiding by, natural laws. There is no one we report to except our selves. Of course we should see the connection between each of our selves and if we do we will realise we all actually just 'report' to each other and as we ascend into higher states of awareness this becomes more and more evident to the point where we do no harm to anyone because we are just harming ourself...but the illusion of separation created by the 'controllers' and our own ignorance is the ONLY thing which keeps us from enjoying 'heaven on earth'.
We are young at this games but the time is now fast approaching where we will 'crack the code' and we will realise the foolishness of our past. We will smile and wonder what took us so long to realise what unconditional love is all about.
I know there are many here, and throughout the world, who have already seen through this game and to them I say...Stop wasting your time on finding out if you are right, you are ! You are here for one purpose only...and that is to reveal the nature of the game.
Love you all
Ray

Hi Fred!:)
They've just shown 'The Game' again on TV in the UK!
It must have been repeated on TV 6 or more times in the last year or so, and it really makes me wonder why?
What are TPTB trying to say by showing this movie over and over?
Are they saying 'Look, this is our initiation process, and we are more powerful than you could ever know'?
Or are TPTB really just trying to bluff us, and have us believe that they are all powerful, when in fact they are not?
EDIT: Are they repeating this movie in the US too?

Hi AwakeInADream. I just see that movie as one big metaphor on life, regardless of how "others" choose to use or display it. Kind of like fire, is it "good" or "bad"? Are we ourselves not currently undergoing an initiation?

Yes! I do like the movie, but I think it works on many levels.
Beneficial to those who know what it's about.
Propaganda to those who don't.
