Pont-Saint-Esprit poisoning: Did the CIA spread LSD?
By Mike Thomson
BBC News 23 August 2010 Last updated at 19:49
Nearly 60 years ago, a French town was hit by a sudden outbreak of hallucinations, which left five people dead and many seriously ill. For years it was blamed on bread contaminated with a psychedelic fungus - but that theory is now being challenged.............
...................Biological warfare
That view remained largely unchallenged until 2009, when an American investigative journalist, Hank Albarelli, revealed a CIA document labelled: "Re: Pont-Saint-Esprit and F.Olson Files. SO Span/France Operation file, inclusive Olson. Intel files. Hand carry to Belin - tell him to see to it that these are buried."

LSD is a WONDER drug when taken in a sacred frame of body and mind...many great artists musicians inventors and philosophers would never have done what they did with out it.LSD has been demonised by TPTB because they know how it gets people out of the controlled matrix they have created...when taken conciously and respectfully..

Agree shiva, I wonder why they may have tested out the effects on a small non lab population?
Exactly what was the point? (just a ponder type question :) )

I guess it was one of those things that you had to live through to really understand what was going-on, morguana.
In 1951, the black-ops arm of the intelligence community was looking for chemicals they could weaponize. They seemed willing to test all sorts of chemicals on the unsuspecting public in many different programs. As Jim Marrs has so often said, "the Nazis didn't loose the Second World War, the German people did".
Dr. Timothy Leary (http://home.dti.net/lawserv/leary.html)was an early operative of the intelligence community (alleged - see link [behind Leary's name] for timeline of circumstantial evidence leading to this conclusion).
It wasn't until the early sixties that, instead of a weapon, they had inadvertently discovered the "cure" for reality manipulation. Dr. Leary went "rogue" with his "turn-on, tune-in, drop-out" mantra.
Instead of being a paid "operative", Dr. Leary was (overnight) transformed into a felon criminal.
Isn't it all so synchronous once you know "the rest of the story"....

a link to a page about the book 'Acid Dreams'
http://www.levity.com/aciddreams/
well-researched, very readable, & includes some of the history of the CIA involvement w/LSD -- i found it funny that they referred to agents who had tripped as 'enlightened agents'

LSD, in formal testing regimen, has been shown to increase intelligence and interconnectivity in the mind and thus associative skills..by 15%-20%.
So, when 'on' LSD, people are about 20% smarter for the duration of the ride. So, 'I thought of it while I was high', is not such a bad thing after all.
Maybe.
Sort of.
Kinda.
You know.

Hi Morguana,
Was it not just a case of the locals taking too many magic mushrooms? After all, what we know as "The Magic Roundabout" with Dougall the dog & Co. is actually a French program called "Le Manège Enchanté" and has several nuances regarding taking what is not all that legal. Was Dylan always high or was he just a really relaxed dude?
http://www.televisionheaven.co.uk/magicroundabout.htm
Zo I aam zure zat zeez furench pipols know what zey are dion, no?
I used to live in a small town near Doncaster many years ago and there the magic mushroom culture was rife as the crops were bountiful from the surrounding woods, not that I took any. Seriously.
http://www.tdpf.org.uk/Policy_General_Mushrooms.htm
So I can understand that a small village in France could have the town psyched out if someone laced the bread with bad, er, ahem, fungus. Could it have been done by a disgruntled employee? Or prankster? Could it have been done for political reasons?
I suppose the CIA story is much more engaging, after all where has the US not been?
Best regards,
Steve
P.S. Is Mike Thompson any relation to Eric Thompson who did the narration for The Magic Roundabout in the UK?
