Yep, it's getting cold and for starters I want to share with you guys a great recipe I found against obnoxious (infant) cough - you know, the one that tickles you all night until you basically feel like coughing up your entire internal system.
Anyway, here goes:
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 onion (medium size)
- 1 tablespoon of honey
Optional additions to sprinkle in moderately:
- cayenne
- thyme
- ginger
- turmeric
- salt
---
Heat water with onion until boiling point. Take off fire, put in honey to melt in and sprinkle in optional herbs.
Violà cough syrup for everyone.
Worked excellently here :wizard:

Violet--
Thank you for the recipe!
I have some questions:
Do you drink the entire cup of cough medicine at one time?
How long does this keep?
Does it need to be refrigerated?
Peace Love Joy & Harmony,
Genevieve

You're welcome Genevieve.
No, it's meant to be consumed as a syrup too with about 3 spoons a day.
Since it's based on mainly water and made with no preservatives it has limited - even - fridge life. The onion too will let you know ;)
That's why you should make little quantities if not many people will be using it at once.

Here is an Appalachian recipe I have used for years with any type of cough.
¼ cup of moonshine Note: I use an equal amount of water to cut the moonshine because mine is close to being 200 proof or 100% alcohol, If you don’t have moonshine a good grade whisky or brandy will work
2 teaspoons raw unfiltered honey
About 2 heaping tablespoons of wild cherry bark (dried)
Put all the ingredients together and warm up SLOWLY and remove from heat and let the cherry bark steep about 15 minutes. Remove the bark and take a couple tablespoons (adult) as needed
Or
Drink the whole ¼ cup and you won’t even care if you have a cough.
;)
You can also double or triple this recipe so you'll have some on hand . . . because of the alcohol it will not spoil. Just keep it in a dark colored glass bottle or in a cabinet.

thanks for the recipe but I do think the title 'Cold Season Here we Come' is something we need to get over......everyone around me has a cold right now and they all say " well its that time of the year" ........if you expect that, it will be your experience. My friend has just been diagnosed with cancer......she told me she has been expecting it .......I told her next time expect to win the lottery!

This little trick works on my little kids for mild cough. Massage vigorously the sole of both feet and inside of both palms with a few drops of eucalyptus oil. It does not cure the cough, just suppresses it. For my part, I just thought my soles and palms are heating up and that seems to help too. These parts of the body might be connected somehow.

Oh dear...I hope your friend gets well and overcomes cancer.
On the other hand I only believe in self-inflicted disasters to some extent. Not all terrible things that happen to us are a result of our thoughts.
One may be happily crossing the street with one's children and a car might hit them. What does that say in itself?
I'm not sure.

Last week I began to feel a burning in my eyes with much watering and tearing up. Also felt the weird feeling up in my sinus cavity. A sore throat for the trifecta. 3 drops of MMS every two hours for 1 and 1/2 days and all symptoms are gone. Gone! These type symptoms would usually indicate a terrible 3 or 4 days of misery in store for me.
Thanks for the cough recipe!

Two more recipes:
1) Ginger tea (1 cup):
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 tablespoon of ginger
- 1/4 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/4 to 1/2 tablespoon of honey
- few drops of lemon
2) Thyme honey (experimental, needs feedback):
- 500g honey (no preference, just not herbal)
- 4 tablespoons of thyme
Heat au bain marie while stirring frequently. Sieve. Tada, thyme honey. I use this for night-time cough dramas. Dosage is about 1 tsp before sleep and an additional tsp for night-time cough sessions that woke you up.
