The Canadian army has been there for 5 years, while Americans were in Irak. They had no American support, just Canadians. They did not want to continue the jobs started by American and that is the responsibility of American,- this is why American had to return to Afghanistan - yet, they took their service given to the US seriously and in five years, I never heard of such behavior amongst Canadian soldiers. Same amount of soldiers, same country. They would never have burned the Koran either, because they do have thorough cultural diversity and adaptation training, starting with non verbal cues to cultural ways to be respeced when abroad.(friends of mine are training them in non verbal cues and cultural differences).

It is straight forward, Obama ordering the US miltary to go to war against a country is illegal, unless he has support from congress. In the case of the Libyan war Obama side stepped congress and order the miltary to attack. For this reason I gather the senator is seeking to impeach Obama. Hope this helps.

The village is Balandi, outside Kandahar in Afghanistan. Thus far the dead are 16, shot in their homes, not just said to be “women and children” but actually infants murdered in their mother’s arms and set afire.

The US claims the perpetrator to be an unnamed “Army Staff Sergeant who has turned himself in.” There are inconsistencies.

The village is outside the gate of an American base. A single soldier without a vehicle would have had to evade security and tunnel under the wire and walls to reach the village or, much more likely, this was more than one man?

This is how CNN has it as for the morning of the 12th. Story embellishment, as you will note involves a “bed count” and a “search patrol.” I believe the next story will include rocket flares and bloodhounds. We will wait for this one. To impart credit to the Army, their belated response is much more creative but as full of holes as a sieve. A minor thing to add here, of course, is that a Staff Sergeant, as the perpetrator or suspect, whichever you choose, “patsy” if you will, is a Staff Sergeant, rank E 6. At 3:AM, those of such rank typically do not “stand watch” on towers or in bunkers.

Then, of course, we will return to the forgotten jerrycan, taken off the nonexistent vehicle to burn the bodies of the dead. I did, however, feel a need to get this response added in so that readers in the Western Hemisphere would be better informed. Another minor error in the report below, noted in our earlier evaluation and reiterated here, above that text, is the nature of the armed response team.

They “came a runnin’” based on someone missing from a bed rather than from gunfire, screams and flaming bodies a short distance away. Capt. Justin Brockhoff, an ISAF spokesman, said the wounded Afghans were being treated in ISAF facilities. The allied command did not give its own estimate of casualties.

Brockhoff said officials do not yet have a motive for the shooting, which is under investigation by both NATO and Afghan officials. And Maj. Jason Waggoner, another ISAF spokesman, said the soldier “was acting on his own.”
There were no military operations in the area, either on the ground or in the air, at the time, according to two senior ISAF officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation. They said only one soldier, an Army staff sergeant, is believed to have been involved.

A U.S. military official told CNN later Sunday that the suspect is from Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state. The official said the soldier is assigned to a Special Forces unit.

A third ISAF official said Afghan troops spotted the soldier leaving his combat outpost around 3 a.m. Sunday and notified their American counterparts. The U.S. military did an immediate headcount, found the soldier was missing and dispatched a patrol to go look for him, the official said.

The officials said they have no knowledge at this point whether he had any previous medical or mental health issues in his record.

The patrol met him as he returned and took him into custody. He said nothing, and it was unclear whether they knew what had happened, the official said.

“We don’t know what motivated this individual, and we’re not sure where this is going to take us,” Capt. John Kirby, an ISAF spokesman, told CNN. But he said ISAF’s commander, Gen. John Allen, “has made it clear this investigation is going to be thorough. It’s going to be done rapidly, in an expeditious way, and we’re going to hold the perpetrator of these attacks to account.”


Why? Only a vehicle with more than one man, one that could claim it had been tasked with some sort of “rendition” or “search and destroy” mission could have been allowed out by security.

Otherwise, it would have been identified as a criminal operation or, more unlikely, a single individual, driving into what the Army told the Associate Press was “a Taliban infested area” on a private mission of “passion and lust.”

I think that highly unlikely.

Thus, this is what we can safely assume:

More than one American was involved as no single soldier would have been allowed outside the compound, heavily armed with a vehicle.

Gate security received authorization for the “mission” from the watch officer at the “Combat Operations Center” at the base, the 24 hour nerve center than coordinates both offensive and defensive missions for even the smallest commands.
No “reaction force” was sent to investigate though this was right outside the gates. Radio contact would have been attempted, and there would be recorded records of this and all other activities, as required by normal procedures.

How could someone just walk out the gate at night?

Again, we repeat, authorization at the gate, obviously more than one person, a vehicle, radio communications, gunfire overheard, all things that make the story we have received not just unlikely but childish, superficial and an obvious lie to anyone with experience in the military, something 30 million Americans have.

Then, so recent in our minds, is the supposed killing of Osama bin Laden, the contradictory stories, the convenient death of those involved, and, of course, the singular similarity between both operations. Don’t Americans’ throw Muslim dead into the sea?

As this act was so criminal and barbaric in nature, the murder of small children, setting bodies on fire and the reports of multiple soldiers involved, we are beset with questions.

The fire is proof, started with gasoline from a jerrycan. Vehicle means gate which means vehicle which means team which means radios and authorized operation.

It isn’t just that we have so many exhausted soldiers suffering from PTSD in Afghanistan, this isn’t the problem. As in Vietnam, such troops more often turn on their officers and senior NCOs, not local women and children, at least with one exception, My Lai, and that was under direct military command from Captain Ernest Medina.

Who commanded this fiasco?

Next we can ask, what kind of person does this? That I can clearly answer, this is the act of someone with strong religious and political beliefs. Years ago, initially Pentecostal and then broader Dominionist/Dispensationalist theologies under the broader term of “Christian Evangelism” has been behind the atrocities.

Some are tied to doomsday cults, others toward “racial cleansing” and more fall under the influence of politicians.

Those currently are Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum.

Previously, they were the entire Bush administration, which used communist “brainwashing” techniques on troops to encourage them to torture and kill as part of their patriotic and religious duty.

These messages were instilled during training and continually reinforced through televised psyop sessions on the Armed Forces Network and Pentagon Channel.

Such rhetoric has largely disappeared during the Obama administration with the exception of that which is normally part of the daily broadcasts on Fox News with its extremist pundits.

Their message, of the threat of Islam with its high birthrate, stresses extremist methods. Our “churchgoers” and “conservatives” are taught Islam, even small children, are the “enemy of our blood,” as though we all carried a Torah in our pockets.

Of course, the tough-talking Biden was only a Senator when this interview took place and he was speaking of President Bush, but one would hope that his argument remains consistent.

“I was chairman of the Judiciary Committee for 17 years or its ranking member. I teach separation of powers in Constitutional law. This is something I know. So I got together and brought a group of Constitutional scholars together to write a piece that I’m going to deliver to the whole Unites States Senate pointing out the President has no Constitutional authority to take this nation to war against a country of 70 million people unless we’re attacked or unless there is proof that we are about to be attacked. Nobody is defending Obama. Of course, he should be held to account. And it goes without saying that he is just as bad as Bush. None of that is at question.

That doesn't mean we can ignore facts, though. The story posted was factually incorrect. Biden isn't backing an impeachment of Obama.

It would be great if he were...but he's not.

We have to pay attention to the stuff that is actually happening and not get sidetracked by junk news that leads us down dead ends...

Afghanistan shootings are latest trouble linked to Lewis-McChord

The staff sergeant who turned himself in after the recent shooting deaths of 16 Afghan civilians was based at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, a sprawling suburban Army facility south of Tacoma, Wash. It's the biggest military base on the West Coast — and one of the most troubled in the Army.

Lewis-McChord, a major staging area for troops going to and from Iraq and Afghanistan, has been plagued over the last two years by a wave of suicides, killings and domestic violence. It was also the scene of the high-profile courts martial of a “kill team” of soldiers on charges of murdering Afghan civilians in Kandahar province for sport.

A U.S. official told the Los Angeles Times that the serviceman now in custody in the latest shootings is a 38-year-old father of two who has spent 11 years in the Army.

He is a veteran of three tours of duty in Iraq and was on his first deployment to Afghanistan, serving as security for special forces in the Kandahar region.

“The individual was augmenting [special operations forces] personnel and his primary responsibility was force protection at the combat outpost," a senior defense official said.

Last month, two investigations were launched at the base’s Madigan Healthcare System after more than 200 soldiers had their diagnoses of post-traumatic stress disorder set aside following cursory forensic psychiatry reviews — boosting longstanding complaints among soldiers and their families that help for war-related mental health problems has been slow and hard to access.

Madigan’s director, Col. Dallas Homas, has been suspended pending the outcome of the inquiries. The probes follow years of complaints from Lewis-McChord soldiers and their families that soldiers are discouraged by their peers from seeking mental health counseling. Many also say that victims of stress often must endure long waits for an appointment for mental health assistance.

A number of soldiers at Lewis-McChord, like the staff sergeant identified in the Kandahar civilian shootings, have deployed three or more times to Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Times reported in December that Lewis-McChord, a joint Army and Air Force facility with nearly 60,000 military and civilian staff, has seen 62 soldier suicides since 2002, as many as 12 of them last year.

Combat stress and other emotional problems have been a problem throughout the Army, not just at Lewis-McChord. The Army’s public health command reported last week that suicides among soldiers rose 80% between 2004 and 2008, with about a fourth of those linked to combat experience in Iraq.

Communities around Lewis-McChord and other high-deployment bases have also seen troubling rises in crime, domestic violence and other violent crimes, often committed by soldiers with multiple combat deployments.

Earlier this year, a 24-year-old Iraq war veteran shot and killed a park ranger at Mt. Rainier National Park. In December, a Lewis-McChord soldier was charged with premeditated murder in the late-night stabbing of a 19-year-old woman in a Seattle suburb. The wife of a Lewis-McChord sergeant testified earlier this month that her husband doused her legs in lighter fluid and lit her on fire. Other cases have involved a father accused of waterboarding his child, and a soldier who killed his wife and hid her body in the garage.

The highest-profile case so far involved the so-called “kill team” in Kandahar province. Military prosecutors said it went in search of Afghan civilians to kill, setting up “scenarios” that made it look as though the soldiers had been attacked. The group from 5th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, led by Staff Sgt. Calvin Gibbs, kept victims' fingers and other gruesome mementos of the killings.

Testimony in the 2010 case played out in a military courtroom for much of last year, with Gibbs ultimately being sentenced in November to life in prison. Three other soldiers were also sentenced to prison.

GI Voice, a local anti-war veterans support group outside Lewis-McChord that has campaigned for better mental health services, on Sunday called for a congressional investigation into the “multiple crises coming from this rogue base.”

“In 10 years of war, JBLM has produced a Kill Team, suicide epidemic, denials of PTSD treatment, denials of human rights in the brig, spousal abuse and a waterboarded daughter, murders of civilians (including a park ranger), increased sex crimes, substance abuse… and much more,” GI Voice’s executive director, Jorge Gonzalez, an Iraq war veteran from Lewis-McChord, said in the statement.

“These abuses are not because of a few bad apples, but because of the base's systematic dehumanization of soldiers and civilians, both in occupied countries and at home.

“It’s surprising, but it’s no longer a shock,” Gonzalez added in an interview. “I just keep expecting, what else is going to happen out of this base?”

The group has scheduled a vigil to memorialize the victims of Sunday’s shooting at 6 p.m. outside one of the base's main gates.

Well, first let's step back a moment and address that Avalon IS an appropriate venue to discuss the tiers of structure of the Global Rulers/Dark Cabal, and anyone that supports them - especially politicians in high office in the land of the Cabal's war machine. If you like, endorse, or admire ANY political figures, you should realize that they are all under scrutiny as minions of the Dark Cabal. I'm actually astounded to meet anyone in 2012 that can ask "what has this man done", if indeed your reference is to Obama. He broke every campaign promise, reversed himself on every issue, in essence giving "W" Bush a third term. And, then we buy into someone saying that he's going to give us "hope and change" while the economy's going south and people are losing their jobs/home/sanity. And this president is just a bully. That's right, I said it. If you don't act or think like Liberals in this country, then you are some freaking lunatic who's out of touch - when the reality is that this guy and the national government are enacting very controversial measures without very much discussion (NDAA) and the Left thinks that everyone will just go along while the Right is MIA. The Right really doesn't have any leadership at the top and they can't understand that people have bought into the rhetoric that they've been spewing for years and years, so they find themselves surprised that regular people are trying to hold them to their words when they are in DC.....not just what they say at election time. , so everyday, normal people are ticked that neither Party are actually looking out for them and their interests. Sure, we yell and scream and call each other Fascists and Socialist, but it's not like anyone listens and tries to actually solve real (not imagined) problems.

And our soldiers, you want to know why they are f*d up? Because recruitment levels aren't the best (gee, what a surprise) these men and women are doing 2-3-4 tours in a war zone and they aren't getting the help that they need to deal with their issues. So, you spend 2-3-4 or more years in a freakin' war zone, that's going to f* you up too -> no wonder people are going "postal" over there.....but I happened to catch in Veterans Today that there's no way that one soldier could just walk off a base like that, but that if you were going to get off base....I don't remember the details of the article, but the main point is that the administration is trying to say that one person when "postal" when it probably was a small unit of men based on what it would take to get off of a highly secured base. So, we have a government that repeatedly lies (anyone remember the guy at the fort in Texas that went postal) and a military that's been acting on a state of war for nearly 11 years. And the rest of us are out here living our lives wondering how these smart people (supposedly) in our leadership class can f* things up so freakin' bad.

But that's what they want. They want us to be angry. They want us to be afraid of our neighbors and play snitch "if you see something out of the ordinary" (gee....wouldn't most law-abiding citizens do that anyways). However, at the same time all of this anger and madness is fuming up around us, we are told "everything's okay. Go on and live your lives, so we have kids that they can't wait to jab when they are barely a day old. Then, the government gets all offended when we demand to actually know what's in our food and water. Then, we start getting ID'd to buy products that we never needed an ID for, but because of some new legislation or regulation we are now asked to show that we aren't criminals and drug dealers (as if a store clerk would be able to tell anyway).

It's the whole "death by a thousand cuts" mentality. It's so obvious to those who see what's going on, but as others have said, there are some that really don't care. They go to work, play sports or video games and that's about it. They complain, but they don't try to change anything because "what's the point" and just accept the brainwashing because it's just easier to go along to get along.

A lot of Americans are wondering what the hell happened to our country. I still have a dream. It's a small dream, but I want to feel the freedom that I felt on 9-10-2001. Too many people are willing to sacrifice their freedom for "faux" security and freebies from the government. And too many in both parties are blinded by their ideologies to see that most Americans aren't extremists in their politics. And there are just thousands of people who are angry, hungry, homeless, broke, fearful and hopeless.

Normally, I'd go back and try to edit/clarify what I wrote, but the fact is that it's just too frustrating/emotional and that's part of the point the more I think about it and that everyone who asks the question is pointing out the same thing. The world is looking at us wondering WTH and, even Americans are wondering WTH. How do you describe millions of people trying to hold it together long enough w/o going postal on their family/friends/neighbors?

You just can't justify any of this s-t, but every day too many people manage to do just that. And people in powerful positions are putting us in positions that we have no control over and won't be able to control if things go south. When I listened to Congressman Jones, I thought FINALLY a politician who's waking up. He didn't back down. I admire that. The Canadian army has been there for 5 years, while Americans were in Irak. They had no American support, just Canadians. Introduction

As chief legal officers of the states and commonwealths, attorneys general are the last line of defense against an increasingly overreaching federal government. Attorneys general have a duty to uphold the laws of their respective states and uphold the U.S. and state constitutions.

One of the ways in which attorneys general protect the integrity of state laws and constitutions is by carefully reviewing the actions of the federal government and responding when they break the law or overstep the bounds of the Constitution.

Federalism is the division of authority between the federal and state governments that the Founding Fathers created to provide a check on federal power so that the federal government would not become destructive of the very liberty it was instituted to protect.

While some naïvely argue that the Constitution should “evolve” due to the fact that our Founders could not have foreseen the issues faced by our country today, they forget that the Founders faced tyranny firsthand and understood it well. This led to the creation of a Constitution that relies on limited government, precisely to protect our citizens from today’s unprecedented overstepping of the “division of authority.”

In the month of February Barak Obama raised 35 million dollars for his campaign.
This is exactly what is wrong with our governmental system.
The majority of the donations aren't listed, or are from anonymous sources.

Now, from personal experience , you don't give someone money without expecting something in return.
We as the American people, have the right to know who is buying our president.

Let's not even get into the fact of how much good that 35 million could do for our country right now.
Ok, actually lets get into it. :)
Could build 7,000 brand new 1,500 square feet house.
Or fix up 12,000 condemned house ( new electrical work, plumbing, windows, siding ect)
Could buy around 2,700 brand new cars ( reasonably priced new cars, no corvettes or anything)
Or pay for a years worth of groceries for 11,200 people.

Instead it is going to be used to lie the American people.
Besmirch other equally corrupt politicians.


Gas prices are up 6% In February. They are closing down oil refineries in the west coast, cause they aren't making money.
They are already threatening power outages and possible gas shortages as early as June.
The Dollar is in the toilet.
Unemployment Is at a steady 8.3 percent ( I think that number is much lower than reality )

And these guys are raking in money hand over fist.

And that is just one month, by the time all is said and done, he would of raised more then 1 billion dollars for his campaign.

It is hard for a group of people who make around 30k a year to fight against a system that is raising 35 million a month.

President Obama signed bill H.R. 347 (also known as the Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011) into law on March 9th, amid numerous protests from the Occupy movement, as well as other agencies. HR 347 is a modification from Senate bill S. 1794, which restricted people from entering or blocking public areas that have been closed off by Secret Service while a person under their protection is passing through. The law also included major public events, such as the Inaguration and Presidential campaigns.

The new law, which passed the House with a vote of 399-3, extends the original law by adding more protected areas within Washington D.C, and removing the word “willfully,” from the paragraph stating that protesters can be prosecuted if they enter the area “willfully and knowingly.”

Representative Justin Amash, R-Michigan, explains this change by saying:

“ The bill expands current law to make it a crime to enter or remain in an area where an official is visiting even if the person does not know it’s illegal to be in that area and has no reason to suspect its illegal.”

Occupy DC protesters are calling the modifications an infringement on their First Amendment rights, because of the areas of D.C. that have been added to the protected areas portion of the act. Approximately 80 protesters organized a silent march to symbolize their Freedom of Speech being taken away–some even taped their mouths closed to visually show their feelings about the bill. The part of the Bill of Rights they are referring to is the following:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Michael Mahaffey, Representative Tom Rooney’s (R-Fla. and the man responsible for introducing the bill to the House) communication director dismissed concerns that the bill violates civil liberties by saying, that the protests against H.R. 347 are, “a whole lot of kerfuffle over nothing. This (HR 347) doesn’t affect anyone’s right to protest anywhere at any time. Ever. ” He went on to say that, “… right now it’s not a federal violation to jump the fence and run across the White House lawn, this bill makes it a federal violation.”

Thought this might help people see why the Obama B.C. issue is a bit of a canard, and why they don't bring it into court. Not because it is illegal (or should I say unlawful?) but because it would expose the underlying dynamics of how they are really operating... - ie. I believe he would be found 'not guilty' (as opposed to 'innocent', there's a difference btw...)

In any event, why would this be? Because it is perfectly legal for someone not born in the U.S to be the 'President' of a U.S. corporation. But, if he was found to be 'not guilty' - that would be letting the cat out of the bag, it would expose the whole commercial statutory system (based on benefits and privileges which can be taken away, ie you are much like an employee working for an employer!) in stark contrast to the common law constitutional system... (where you have inalienable rights)... so they (the government) know they are in no danger 'legally' but they also don't want to expose their game, nor educate the public either...

And in case you are wondering... most of us (like 99%) are caught up in the 'commercial' statutory world' (we gave up our rights, by improperly 'signing' a bunch of 'contracts' like SIN/ Health cards, Driver's License, etc.... note: try signing with "all rights reserved, for:[autograph]" and watch the government flip out!) combined with no one having a proper education of what their real rights are (maxim of law: He who sleeps on his rights, has none, period) and think about it, they even warned us... I remember someone telling my me their lawyer told them "never sign anything!..." (and yes he did mean that literally... and again, what that all entails is another story...)

Anyhow, if you see the implications of what is being said here, this should totally blow you out of the water... especially if this is the first time you have been exposed to this type of information...

... it means (for one thing) that the idea of having a separate commercial entity operating concurrently with the constitution, (one thing superimposed over another) was always in the cards, (and even possibly necessary for the government to operate commercially) but somehow these legal 'pirates' have managed to shanghai the 'ship' and drag everyone living on the 'land' into their world of admiralty jurisdiction (the law of the sea, commerce) and thus try and get us to 'forgo' our inalienable rights for a pittance (commercially administered benefits) statutory laws were originally meant to protect free men and women from 'government employees' (...think of the SSN as an 'employee' number...a legal entity in commerce... oops!)

... A lot of people interpret this to mean we have no rights and we are all 'caught' in a trap... well yes and no, not necessarily, for if one were truly educated in their constitutional rights, and understood everything about contracts, and finally the (private/public) trust law system that is overarching all of this, (you'd be a lawyer! - lol) then we could become the master's that we are, and put the servants (government servants ) to task... and one would be able to differentiate between a 'statute' and a 'law' and that too is another story... ...this is the very 'matrix' and 'rabbit hole' 'the' movie alludes to... it goes back generations... (and perhaps centuries and millenia as per Ring of Power/ Empire Of The City - World Superstate) ...and explains a lot ie. US/British military relationship, why Britain started lending money to US immediately after the 'Revolution', etc.

I was watching 'JOHN CARTER' the movie, and funny, the scene where he is reading the 'telegram' near the beginning of the movie. The first thing that shouted at me was 'computer printout!!' It's like the continuity people were so young they probably didn't know what an old typewriter type font and kern would have looked like (LOL) - that was sad, considering the budget. oh well... To the best of my understanding the Birth Certificate (BC) is a 'derivative' or 'extraction' of the 'Statement of Live Birth' (SOLB) document, all of which, are forms of 'legal property' and 'trust instruments', the extracted BC in particular was created and is owned by the Government with an entirely different trust relationship then the document it was derived from (SOLB), it's not yours, you only have beneficial 'use' of it in a subtle and hidden trust relationship... and in the strictest legal sense it is not even considered a form of identity (this we have solid) BUT is used as a foundation document to CREATE 'identity'... which legally means you have attached yourself to a corporate 'person' as a trustee w/ liability and surety for every legal account created from it. And yet at the end of the day, since it is their 'property' they can do whatever they want with it.

It asked some questions that I had been afraid say out loud. Also, just given the scrutiny of GWB , I've been wanting to see the grades and the hear from the disgruntled old girlfriends. It's just odd that there's always one more piece of the story coming out and it seems like we never get any straight answers. Regardless of whether you liked GWB, you, at least, could get a timeline for where he was and what he was doing when. I never had a good feeling about Obama and it's because of this kind of stuff. It's really like the lady who really doesn't want to admit that her man's having an affair because then she'd have to do something about it.

Yes, I do understand that there are Obama supporters on PA and I'm really not trying to offend anyone. However, it's this sort of thing that makes me think something kind of shady going on.

I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but he's never answered the questions in a way that really puts the matter to rest and the fact that so many people have the same questions would be bothersome to most reasonable people. People can deal with something like GWB having pronunciation issues. However, w/Obama there's a substantial body of evidence (that continues to grow) that this guy is a sham who's being propped up by his handlers.

My problem isn't him, personally, but I do care if he's defrauding the American people and the entire world by claiming to be someone or something he's not. As fellow truth-seekers, I would ask Obama supporters on PA to respect those of us who are asking these questions, instead of dismissing people's legitimate concerns. Rips 'Biggest censorship Blackout in the history of the United States'

“America’s Toughest Sheriff” says there is “tons” more potentially shocking information on Barack Obama in connection with his probe into the president’s eligibility, and he calls the media’s suppression of his findings of a likely forged presidential birth certificate and Selective Service Card “probably the biggest censorship blackout in the history of the United States.”

“I’m not going after the president to keep him off a ballot or anything else, but that could happen,” Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio said. “I’m going at it strictly as a law-enforcement guy investigating a possible forgery and fraud. I’m sticking with that, but I’ll tell you one thing. We got tons of other information that could be very shocking, too, but I’m sticking now with just the [forgery] investigation and possible criminal violations.”

The lawman from Maricopa County made the comments March 16 on a national radio show hosted by Roger Hedgecock. (Scroll down for video.)

As WND reported March 1, Arpaio and his Cold Case Posse announced there is probable cause indicating the documents released by the White House last April purported to be Obama’s original, long-form birth certificate and Selective Service registration card are actually forgeries.

He stressed on the radio show his original intent with the posse was to put to rest all the claims suggesting Obama was not meeting the constitutional requirements to hold the presidency.

Give us the microfiche. I said that six months ago. And that would clear everything up. But as we went into it with an open mind, now we’re coming to a conclusion that we may have some forged documents revolving around this situation.”

When asked about making an arrest, Arpaio said, “We’re trying to identify any alleged forger. We haven’t done that yet. … I’m not blaming the president, but if they’re forged, someone has to be responsible for doing that.”

The sheriff also said that on Friday, he made a decision about where to send Obama’s Selective Service Card in order to have that agency “help us or do an independent investigation.”

“We have nothing to hide. We’re bringing it to their attention, and see what happens,” Arpaio said. “My problem is, there’s a lot of conflicts out here to get somebody to look into this. [Regarding] the media … this is probably the biggest censorship blackout in the history of the United States. When I go to the toilet, I make it in national news. … I just can’t believe the media, including the cable media blocking this thing out.”

Today, Arpaio issued a statement saying he sent his request for assistance to the U.S. Selective Service System, asking its director, Lawrence Romo, to respond to him within 30 days on whether or not his national office will provide the sheriff with the original document, and if that office will move forward with an investigation of its own.

On Hedgecock’s radio show, Arpaio noted:

“I guess common sense would be to send it to them. The Selective Service director is appointed by the president. … They only have 136 employees in the whole organization. I presume if I did that, what do you think they’re gonna to do with it? The director who was appointed from San Antonio, Texas, eight months into the Obama administration, what do you think he’s gonna do? He’s probably gonna call some guy at the White House if he can get up to the chief of staff to ask some advice, and then what are they gonna do? Give it to the attorney general? I don’t know. … So I’m fighting big battles here.”

Arpaio made special note about the issue of Obama’s possibly forged Selective Service Card.

“We had a press conference. A lot of people came. They were snickering, trying to embarrass me, [saying] this is a pony show trying to get publicity,” he said. “However, when we showed the Selective Service Card on the screen, you could hear a pin drop.”

Because of inconsistencies on the form itself – including an unusually incomplete date stamp – sheriff’s investigators suspect the form, which was allegedly filled out in Honolulu in 1980, may be a forgery.

WND is reporting today that Arpaio is seeking Obama’s original registration card from Selective Service.

Sheriff’s investigators were able to replicate the alleged forgery by obtaining a circa 1980 pica stamp and a circa “2008″ date plug. Investigators were able to clearly demonstrate the “80″ (which should have actually read 1980) in Obama’s Selective Service Registration form resulted from cutting out the “08″ from an authentic “2008″ date plug, and inverting the “08″ to read “80″ when the cut plug was loaded into the year slot on the 1980 pica stamp.

Meanwhile, although Arpaio did not focus on Obama’s Social Security Number at his news conference, WND has also reported the president may be using a fraudulent number, another important piece of information the national news media continue to suppress.

Arpaio’s Cold Case Posse began its investigation in August after 250 members of the Surprise, Ariz., Tea Party, presented a signed petition asking him to undertake the investigation. The tea partiers indicated if a forged birth certificate had been used to place Obama on the 2012 Arizona presidential ballot, their rights as Maricopa County voters could be compromised.

Then last December, Obama’s Justice Department held its own news conference to claim Arpaio’s office committed civil-rights violations against Hispanics, including racial profiling and heavy-handed immigration patrols based on racially charged complaints.

When asked about that during Friday’s radio show, Arpaio said, “They want to control my organization, [imposing] monitors and everything else. I’m not gonna go for that. So I guess they’ll sue me and we’ll go to court and put the real facts out. The real facts that they’re going to have to come up with including all their so-called witnesses that they won’t identify. They won’t give us anything.”

A request for original documents by a group investigating the eligibility of president Obama has been turned down by The Selective Service System in a move that is sure to court more controversy.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, leader of the probe into the authenticity of the now notorious Obama birth certificate, announced earlier this month that he had cause to believe that Obama’s Selective Service registration form was also a forgery.

Arpaio asked for a response from the federal agency within 30 days on whether or not it will provide a hard copy of the original document.

The Selective Service System has now replied to the request with a three-sentence letter from the office of Selective Service Director Lawrence G. Romo.

“This Agency has no evidence that President Obama’s 1980 registration is not authentic,” wrote Richard S. Flahavan, associate director of public & intergovernmental affairs.

“However, if you have any credible evidence to the contrary and believe that a Federal crime has been committed, we suggest that it be turned over immediately to the Federal Bureau of Investigation to pursue,” the letter concluded.

Unsatisfied with the agency’s response, Arpaio has addressed another correspondence to Romo.

“If your office has the original, authentic Selective Service registration form for Barack Obama from July 29, 1980, please indicate whether or not you are in possession of this document,” Arpaio wrote.

“If the document is in your possession, please make it available for inspection by my Sheriff’s Office investigators. We will travel to your facility to analyze it.”

Arpaio asked for a further response from the agency within ten days.

In his original March 19 letter, Arpaio explained that the document location number and several other identifying factors indicate that Obama’s Selective Service Form was created in 2008 and has been altered to appear as if it dates from 1980.

A new national movement has been launched to impeach President Obama based around five core issues which clearly demonstrate how Obama has flagrantly violated the Constitution.

The campaign, backed by director, producer, actor and writer Sean Stone, is a follow-up to North Carolina Republican Walter Jones’ efforts to bring the administration to account for launching unconstitutional wars without the authorization of Congress. Jones’ recently introduced resolution states that such actions represent “an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor.”

The five core reasons for impeachment proceedings to be launched can be summarized as follows;

1) Despite promising otherwise, Barack Obama committed U.S. military resources to overthrow Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi without any kind of congressional authorization whatsoever and without citing any evidence that Libya under Gaddafi was a threat to the security of the United States. Furthermore, Obama brazenly undermined the power of Congress by insisting his authority came from the United Nations Security Council and that Congressional approval was not necessary. “I don’t even have to get to the Constitutional question,” Obama churlishly remarked.

2) On New Years Eve 2011, Obama signed into law the National Defense Authorization Act which includes provisions that permit the abduction and military detention without trial of U.S. citizens. Despite Obama claiming he would not use the provisions to incarcerate U.S. citizens, it was his administration that specifically demanded these powers be included in the final NDAA bill.

3) The passage of the Obamacare bill, under which Americans will be forced to buy health insurance, is clearly anathema to the Constitution. “The individual mandate is unprecedented and exceeds Congress’s power to regulate interstate commerce. If it is allowed to stand, Congress will be able to impose any kind of economic mandate as part of any kind of national regulatory scheme,” writes Ilya Shapiro, a Senior Fellow in Constitutional Studies, Cato Institute.

4) Obama’s role in the economic looting of America since he took office is unprecedented. Specifically, Obama violated the Constitution’s Takings and Due Process Clauses when he bullied the secured creditors of automaker Chrysler into accepting 30 cents on the dollar while politically connected labor unions and preferential others received better deals.

5) Finally, Obama’s use of signing statements shows his desire to continue in the vein of George W. Bush and rule by executive fiat. This is a direct violation of Article II of the Constitution.

Be not deceived- Obama’s full frontal attack on the Supreme Court is nothing less than the final phase of his “Hitler dictatorship”. Obama has now effectively adopted the “fuhrerprinzip” of the Nazi legal theorist, Carl Schmitt.

After Adolph Hitler murdered his political opponents during the “night of the long knives”, Schmitt authored a short, but concise justification of the Hitler dictatorship, in August of 1934, which stated that in a “…moment of danger he directly creates law by virtue of his leadership as the supreme judicial authority.... The true Leader is always also Judge. From the Leadership flows the judgeship.” The nature of Obama’s attack on the Supreme Court is to establish him as judge, jury, and executioner. It is the final stage in a process of his attack on due process, in both the detention policy contained in the NDAA, and the targeted assassinations of American citizens without trial.

In a webcast delivered on April 11th, 2009, Lyndon LaRouche identified Obama as a carbon copy of the Emperor Nero. How hard is it to destroy a country?) This teacher has had enough and has voiced her outrage. Maybe more of us should do the same, even with the outrageous and illegal NDAA hanging over our heads.... "I am – how do you say it? – persona non grata," said Lieutenant-Colonel Daniel Davis, as he sat sipping a coffee and eating a chocolate sundae in a shopping mall, just a subway stop from the Pentagon.

The career soldier is now a black sheep at the giant defence department building where he still works. The reason was his extraordinarily brave decision to accuse America's military top brass of lying about the war in Afghanistan. When he went public in the New York Times, he was acclaimed as a hero for speaking out about a war that many Americans feel has gone horribly awry. Later this month he will receive a Ridenhour prize, an award given to whistleblowers that is named after the Vietnam war soldier who exposed the My Lai massacre.

Davis believes people are not being told the truth and said so in a detailed report that he wrote after returning from his second tour of duty in the country. He had been rocketed, mortared and had stepped on an improvised explosive device that failed to explode. Soldiers he had met were killed and he was certain that a bloody disaster was unfolding. So he spoke out. "It's like I see in slow motion men dying for nothing and I can't stop it," he said. "It is consuming me from the inside. It is eating me alive."

Davis, 48, drew up two reports containing research and observations garnered from his last tour. He was not short of material. As part of his job he had criss-crossed the country, travelling 9,000 miles and talking to more than 250 people. He had built up a picture of a hopeless cause; a country where Afghan soldiers were incapable of holding on to American gains. US soldiers would fight and die for territory and then see Afghan troops let it fall to the Taliban. Often the Afghans actively worked with the Taliban or simply refused to fight. One Afghan police officer laughed in Davis's face when asked if he ever tried to fight the enemy. "That would be dangerous!" the man said.

Yet at the same time Davis saw America's military chiefs, such as General David Petraeus, constantly speak about America's successes, especially when working with local troops. So Davis compiled two reports: one classified and one unclassified. He sent both to politicians in Washington and lobbied them on his concerns. Then in February he went public by giving an interview to the New York Times and writing a damning editorial in a military newspaper. Then – and only then – did he tell his own army bosses what he had done.

Davis pulled no punches. His report's opening statement read: "Senior ranking US military leaders have so distorted the truth when communicating with the US Congress and American people in regards to conditions on the ground in Afghanistan that the truth has become unrecognisable."

The report detailed an alarming picture of Taliban advances and spiralling violence. Afghan security forces were unwilling or unable to fight, or actively aiding the enemy. That picture was contrasted with repeated rosy statements from US military leaders. His classified version was far more damning, but it remains a secret. "I am no WikiLeaks guy part two," Davis said. He foresees a simple and logical end point for Afghanistan – civil war and societal collapse, probably long before the last US combat soldier is scheduled to leave. He says the Afghan army and police simply cannot cope and the US forces training and working with them know that, despite official pronouncements to the contrary. "What I saw first hand in virtually every circumstance was a barely functioning organisation often co-operating with the insurgent enemy," Davis's report said.

The document was also damning about the role of the US media in reporting the war. Ever since Vietnam, generals have slammed the press as a potential danger to military operations, but Davis's report lambasted journalists for failing to question the official army line. He said the media were obsessed with getting "access" to military bases and generals and tempered reporting in order to maintain that situation. "Most of the media just takes the talking points and repeats them," he said.

Davis has not been officially sanctioned – because his classified report remains secret, he broke no law – and the military has not set out actively to condemn him. Instead there has been a muted official response, while privately, Davis said, many colleagues have congratulated him for speaking out. Yet he is now experiencing a strange end to a military career to which he devoted his life. It included serving in Germany, both Iraq wars and then two tours in Afghanistan. He said it gave him pride and a sense of purpose in doing a greater good.

"I loved the army. There was nothing I have ever wanted to do more than this job since I started as a private back in 1985," he said. That is a very all-American sentiment, but then so is Davis's background. He was born the son of a football coach and grew up in Dallas, Texas. He is a born-again Christian who sings in a church choir. He said the decision to go public involved heavy "soul-searching".

It has also made any future career advancement highly unlikely. "Maybe no one will listen, but I would not be able to sleep if I made no attempt," he said.

What Davis wants – and what several politicians are lobbying for – are congressional hearings on the issue. He wants the generals grilled on his report and on how their comments compare with the evidence. But that needs the support of party leaders such as Democratic senator Harry Reid or Republican House speaker John Boehner, and that seems unlikely because such hearings would be a political minefield.

This only serves to infuriate Davis. "Wouldn't you want to know the truth when you are making a war-and-peace decision?" Does he have any regrets? "There has never been a fraction of a question as to whether I did the right thing," he said. "Lives are at stake."

April 13 - Wikileaks founder Julian Assange will launch his new TV talk show on Russia Today on April 17, but is keeping the guest list secret, the Kremlin-funded English language station said on Friday.

Assange, who is under house arrest in England fighting extradition to Sweden for questioning on an alleged sexual assault, filmed "The World Tomorrow" show from Britain.

Russia Today (RT) said in a news release that it would not release the guest list in advance, but said the first interview would prove controversial.

"We do not want to kill the buzz and the intrigue by revealing the name of the first guest," said RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan.

"But I have no doubt that this particular guest and this interview will lead to calls to shut us down from some especially hawkish personalities who have little respect for freedom of speech," she added.

Australian-born Assange said in a statement he would be talking to people "who normally simply would not be given a voice on TV at all. What is fair to say is that the majority of what they have said to me they could not say on a mainstream TV network."

Russia Today is considered a key Kremlin exercise in image enhancement by critics. It is beamed to some 430 million subscribers worldwide and it also streams online.

Assange's new show will be broadcast simultaneously from Moscow and Washington DC, in English, Arabic and Spanish.

Assange said April 17 marks the 500th day since financial transaction firms like Visa, Mastercard and Paypal began to refuse working with Wikileaks after it published a raft of secret US diplomatic cables in late 2010.

Bennett Island is part of the Sakha Republic administrative division of Russia.

In 1916 the Russian ambassador in London issued an official notice to the effect that the Imperial government considered Bennett, along with other Arctic islands, integral parts of the Russian Empire. This territorial claim was later maintained by the Soviet Union.

Some U.S. individuals assert American ownership of Bennett Island based on the 1881 landing. A resolution of the Alaska State Senate in 1988 supported this claim. However, the United States government has never claimed Bennett Island, and recognizes it as Russian territory. In 1994, the Alaska State Supreme Court ruled in D. Denardo v. State of Alaska that Bennett Island, along with several islands, is not part of Alaska.

A look at the map will give the reader some notion of the frozen “Alaskan” islands under discussion. All are far closer to the Russian mainland than to the Alaskan mainland. All lie on the Russian side of the U.S.-Russia maritime boundary set by a treaty that the U.S. Senate ratified overwhelmingly more than two decades ago, after being signed by President George H.W. Bush, and with the support of both of Alaska’s senators.

The largest, Wrangel Island (in Russian, Ostrov Vrangelya), is named for the Russian explorer Ferdinand P. Wrangel, who heard of the island from Siberian natives as early as 1820. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, Wrangel did not land on it while mapping the Siberian coast that year. The first European to sight it may have been the British explorer Capt. Henry Kellett, who in 1849 discovered and landed on nearby Herald Island, and saw Wrangel in the distance.

The uninhabited Wrangel Island was sighted by U.S. vessels in 1867 and 1881, but not settled. A Canadian explorer named Vilhjalmur Stefansson and survivors of a disastrous expedition reached the island in 1914. That’s about the extent of justification for calling them “Alaskan.” Neither the U.S., Britain nor Canada has disputed the Soviet (and now Russian) claim to Wrangel. The U.S. State Department says Wrangel and the others weren’t included in the U.S. purchase of Alaska from Russia in 1867, and “they have never been claimed by the United States.”

Nevertheless, a crusading California activist named Carl Olson, of Woodland Hills, Calif., made it his business to claim that the islands are “100 percent American,” as the AP said in 1990. The organization Olson founded, “State Department Watch, Ltd,” is still pressing that argument today. (The group is a nonprofit advocacy organization that reported taking in $2.4 million in 2010 but spent most of it on fundraising, according to its most recent IRS Form 990. It paid Olson an $80,000 salary, made grants of $51,000 to the “1776 Tea Party” of Laguna Woods, Calif., and $9,500 to the “Minuteman Project, Inc.” of Aliso Viejo, Calif. But nearly $2 million was reported going for postage and printing. The group reports that it hired Virginia-based WJM Associates, a fundraising and marketing firm that lists several Republican and conservative groups as clients.)

Despite Olson’s objections, the Senate ratified a treaty establishing the current maritime boundary between the U.S. and the Soviet Union (now Russia) on Sept. 16, 1991. The vote was a lopsided 86 to 6. Alaska’s senators, the late Ted Stevens and Frank Murkowski, both Republicans, voted in favor of ratification.

But voting against the treaty were Sens. John McCain of Arizona, Chuck Grassley of Iowa and four other Republicans, led by the late Sen. Jesse Helms of North Carolina. During a very brief debate, Helms said he was fighting to “protect the status” of Wrangel Island and four others: Herald, Bennett, Henrietta and Jeannette Islands.

The treaty did not specifically cede sovereignty over the islands to the Soviets (which the U.S. wasn’t disputing anyway), and merely clarified the location of the maritime boundary to settle squabbles over fishing and undersea mineral rights. Nevertheless, Helms said he would vote against it because “I doubt that the State Department will make use of the opportunity to press U.S. claims to the five islands — even though the right to do so is preserved.”

And sure enough, no president or secretary of state since has shown any interest in disputing the Soviet/Russian claim to Wrangel Island or the others. Which brings us to the present accusation that President Obama is somehow giving away something the U.S. has never claimed to own. How can that be?

For one thing, the maritime boundary treaty has never been ratified by the Russians, which is required for it to take full force. By the time the U.S. Senate had ratified the treaty (signed by the Soviets the previous year), the Soviet Union was near collapse. Shortly afterward, the Russian Federation notified the U.S. government by diplomatic note that it would continue to abide by the terms of the agreement on a provisional basis, however.

Ironically, in view of claims of a U.S. “giveaway,” it is the Russians who have sought to renegotiate the terms of the boundary treaty on grounds that their side gave up too much to the United States. A history of the matter, by Vlad M. Kaczynski of the Warsaw School of Economics, published in the May 1, 2007, edition of the Russian Analytical Digest, details why the new Russian Federation refused to ratify the treaty:


Kaczynski, 2007: Many accuse Gorbachev and Shevardnadze of ceding Russia’s rightful fishing areas in their haste to negotiate a deal for signature at the 1990 White House Summit. “Russian parliamentarians understood perfectly well that the agreement infringed upon Russia’s interests and therefore the document has never been ratified by the Russian parliament,” these critics say. Other Russian officials have voiced their opposition to the treaty not only because of lost fishing opportunities, but also due to the loss of potential oil and gas fields and naval passages for submarines.

Content to hang on to what the Soviet negotiators gave up, the U.S. State Department says, “The United States has no intention of reopening discussion of the 1990 Maritime Boundary Agreement.” However, since the treaty has yet to be ratified by the Russians, Olson and some on the right argue that the U.S. should still be pressing claims to Wrangel (Olson prefers to spell it “Wrangell” with two “l’s”) and other islands and rocks.

The whole business was raised anew in an opinion piece published Feb. 16 on the conservative site World Net Daily (notable for promoting dubious claims about the president’s birthplace). It was written by Joe Miller, the Tea Party favorite who defeated Sen. Lisa Murkowski (daughter of former Sen. Frank Murkowski) in the 2010 Republican Senate primary, only to see Lisa Murkowski go on to win the general election handily as a write-in candidate.

“Obama’s State Department is giving away seven strategic, resource-laden Alaskan islands to the Russians,” Miller wrote. “We won the Cold War and should start acting like it.” The following day, Miller posted an addendum to his piece conceding that he was raising “an old issue” and that he had been “assisted with this article” by Olson’s State Department Watch.

It is an old issue indeed. In fact, World Net Daily itself published a July 29, 2008, article critical of the State Department for the “island giveaway.” Of course, George W. Bush — not Obama — was president at the time. (The Bush administration’s official Arctic Region Policy stated that the U.S. would abide by the 1990 maritime agreement and would continue to urge the Russian Federation to ratify it.)

And we’re not sure why Miller mentions only seven islands when Olson always has insisted the U.S. has a claim to eight. But whatever the count, it is simply false to claim that Obama is “giving away” islands to which no U.S. president has asserted a claim for more than 85 years, if ever.

Lord Ahmed, a controversial British, peer has been suspended from the Labour Party amid reports that he offered a £10 million bounty for the capture of President Barack Obama and his predecessor President George W Bush.

Lord Nazir Ahmed, 53, who in 1998 became the first Muslim life peer, was reported to have made the comments at a conference in Haripur in Pakistan.

A Labour Party spokesman said: "We have suspended Lord Ahmed pending investigation. If these comments are accurate we utterly condemn these remarks which are totally unacceptable."

According to Pakistan's Express Tribune newspaper Lord Ahmed offered the bounty in response to a US action a week ago.

The US issued a $10 million reward for the capture of Pakistani militant leader Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, founder of the Lashkar-e-Taiba group, who it suspects of orchestrating the 2008 Mumbai attacks in which 166 people died as terrorists stormed hotels and a train station.

The British peer reportedly said: "'If the US can announce a reward of $10 million for the (capture) of Hafiz Saeed, I can announce a bounty of £10 million (for the capture of) President Obama and his predecessor, George Bush."

Lord Ahmed reportedly said he would arrange the bounty at any cost, even if he had to sell his own personal assets including his house.

He was said to have made the comments at a reception arranged in his honour by the business community of Haripur on Friday.

A former Pakistani foreign minister and a provincial education minister were said to have been present at the reception.

Lord Ahmed, who was born in Pakistan, became Baron Ahmed of Rotherham at the age of 40. In 2007 he was highly critical of the awarding of a knighthood to Salman Rushdie, claiming the author had "blood on his hands."

In 2009 he was jailed for dangerous driving after sending and receiving text messages minutes before being involved in a fatal motorway crash. The Court of Appeal later suspended his 12-week jail sentence.

A week ago the US offered the bounty on Saeed in response to what it called his increasingly "brazen" conduct in Pakistan where he moves freely and appears on television.

Documents found by US special forces at Osama bin Laden's final hideaway in Abbottabad, 22 miles north of Haripur, last year apparently linked Saeed with the al-Qaeda leader. The evidence was said to have shown that bin Laden played a key role in planning the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

In its statement suspending Lord Ahmed the Labour Party said: "The international community is rightly doing all in its power to seek justice for the victims of the Mumbai bombings and halt terrorism."

But Lord Ahmed complained that party chiefs had not spoken to him before announcing the move and challenged the party to produce evidence against him.

He had told the meeting that Mr Bush and ex-Labour prime minister Tony Blair should be prosecuted for war crimes however, he added, speaking from Pakistan.

"They have suspended me? That's a surprise to me. I did not know," he said.

"If the Labour Party want to suspend me I will deal with the Labour Party. They will have to give me some evidence."

Asked about the reported comments, he said: "I never said those words.

"I did not offer a bounty. I said that there have been war crimes committed in Iraq and Afghanistan and those people who have got strong allegations against them - George W Bush and Tony Blair have been involved in illegal wars and should be brought to justice.

This guy is a self taught 'guru' in the 'B.C. I make no secret of my belief that Mr. MT Keshe is the real deal, some agree some do not. My point here is that I don't want this thread to devolve into believers vs non-believers, I'm simply looking for some information on a statement he published yesterday.

April 21 was the first international presentation and technology disclosure from The Keshe Foundation. Naturally this is highly sensitive information, but I was looking for some feedback as to how it was received on his forum.

As RP has been mentioned, i will just say that there is a coup of sorts brewing in the GOP, and RP has been gaining delegates. There will be a split convention, and we could very well have RP as our nominee. Of course we could get Jeb Bush too...... I don't even want to go there.

Serving and former US Navy SEALs have slammed President Barack Obama for taking the credit for killing Osama bin Laden and accused him of using Special Forces operators as ‘ammunition’ for his re-election campaign.

The SEALs spoke out to MailOnline after the Obama campaign released an ad entitled ‘One Chance’.

In it President Bill Clinton is featured saying that Mr Obama took ‘the harder and the more honourable path’ in ordering that bin Laden be killed. The words ‘Which path would Mitt Romney have taken?’ are then displayed.

Besides the ad, the White House is marking the first anniversary of the SEAL Team Six raid that killed bin Laden inside his compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan with a series of briefings and an NBC interview in the Situation Room designed to highlight the ‘gutsy call’ made by the President.

A year after US special forces shot dead the world's most wanted terrorist, bin Laden's death has sparked a furious political row. A risky tactic by President Obama - now could it backfire?

President Obama says it was the longest 40 minutes of his life: the moment he made the decision to send special forces into Pakistan to take out Osama bin Laden. A year after the al-Qaeda leader was shot dead, Obama has given journalists unprecedented access inside the situation room of the White House, telling NBC News of the silence that fell inside the room, as the dramatic events unfolded.

Mr Obama insisted it was not an occasion to celebrate, but he has come under fire from his Republicans rivals for using the raid as a key part of his re-election campaign, starting with a video entitled 'One Chance', released on Friday, which commended his ability to take tough decisions as commander-in-chief.

The theme was pressed home in another video, showcasing the Obama campaign's new slogan, 'Forward': the death of bin Laden, it claimed, was "the victory no-one saw coming". Vice President Joe Biden, campaigning in New York, suggested it was "legitimate" to ask whether the terrorist leader would still be alive if the Republican presidential challenger Mitt Romney had been in charge.

That one hurt: the outraged response was instant. Senator John McCain described the campaign ad as a "pathetic political act of self-congratulation", and in a statement hosted on the RNC website, accused Obama of doing "a shameless end-zone dance to help himself get re-elected." The former defence secretary Donald Rumsfeld took to Twitter to vent his spleen, while there was even unease on the left, with Ariana Huffington describing the whole strategy as "despicable".

Getting personal

On Monday things ramped up still further, as the President himself was asked about the issue at a press conference with the Japanese premier. He alluded to the fact that Mitt Romney had previously been on record as questioning the value of "moving heaven and earth" to catch al-Qaeda leaders. "I'd just recommend that everybody take a look at people's previous statements in terms of whether they thought it was appropriate to go into Pakistan and take out Bin Laden."

Cue Romney, on the stump in New Hampshire, who insisted that any American would have taken the same decision as Obama. "Of course, of course. Even Jimmy Carter would have given that order," he quipped. Of course there is no way of knowing what Romney would have decided, if he had been in that situation room. But it is hardly a novel tactic in politics, to use a president's definining moment of military success for some kind of electoral advantage.

There are countless examples from the 2004 campaign, for example, where the Bush campaign declared that Saddam Hussein would "not only be in Baghdad, he would be in Kuwait", if John Kerry had been in the White House. No matter. There is a backstory to take into consideration here, that of a growing, and incresingly vociferous military lobby against the current President.

Anger among some of the more conservative Navy Seals, claims the Buzzfeed website, has been brewing for months, highlighted by an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal earlier this year, by former Seal Leif Babin. Under the banner headline "Obama exploits the Navy Seals", he criticised the administration's "lack of discretion", concluding: "It is infuriating to see political gain put above the safety and security of our brave warriors and our long term strategic goals."

A question of judgement

As with most definining political moments, however, this one is all down to a judgement call. President Obama's judgement, on that special forces raid, and the judgement of his campaign team, to use the anniversary of that moment now. On the face of it, it might appear disingenuous for the Republicans to insist that the bin Laden killing should be out of bounds, in the President's bid to win re-election.

"I hardly think you've seen excessive celebrating here", Obama said on Monday, and indeed, his team have already moved on to another target - Mitt Romney's Swiss bank accounts, and his extensive financial assets around the globe. Polls suggest that that all-important demographic, the 'Walmart Moms', care not one jot about terrorism and foreign policy, but the economy and making ends meet.

But still: cameras inside the situation room, and a president whose experience and courage under fire was questioned from the moment he ran for office. Turning a military triumph into something to shout about seems understandable, under those circumstances.
