A mirror is not about facts its about perception.

Many eating disorders have alot to do with what is perceived in the mirror.

What our mind sees, and accepts as reality ..is not always the case.

What do you see in the mirror?

Who am i?

i am celine, Daughter, Sister, Mother, Wife, Friend

What do i see in the mirror?

Someone who loves...someone who is very hard to love.

Someone who indulges in emotions......someone that does not control them

Someone who makes mistakes...someone that learns with everything she does

Looking within, is often the first step to a long journey

Celine I believe you are right the mirror is about perception and not facts. I stand in front of the mirror almost daily after my shower or bath-completely nude and look into my eyes for a few seconds to remind me of that. to remind me that at my deepest level I am not this physical body and that I must still take very good care of it to have the life I want for as long as possible. It also reminds me where my physical attributes come from My mothers light golden skin, big eyes, bow shaped smile, long thick hair, tiny waist and long slim fingers. My fathers height, square shoulders, aqualine nose, long legs and big feet and hands ( I felt a kinship to the Na'vi natives in the AVATAR movie) and an athletic ability from both sides. I see much of the same in all of my brothers and sisters and almost all of our children. I then think ahead into my day and remind myself that the clothes that I put on that day are not necessarily reflective of who I truely am but a necessity a "costume" if you will- necessary to play the game of life. I sometimes wonder as I am sure most woman have, what would the world be like if the mirror and reflective metal surfaces had never been invented?????? and if we only had the surface of water, the remarks of family, friends and others, and our internal guidance to go by as to how we are appearing to the outside world. Or would we care as long as we were clean. Although I must admit there have been many times when glancing into a mirror trying to fix makeup that is running down my face from crying that I would look directly into my eyes and say to myself "I don't want to feel this any more" and then I would go about making changes in my life. The mirror reflects our day to day life back at us as well in moments such as these. Celine, thank you for the thought provoking thread.
