Hi,

About a month ago i bought a videocamera, its a Sony DCR-SX-15E, brand new but a cheapy, why i bought this camera is an odd story all by its self, i wont go into that because i allready did in another thread.

Anyhow, i was at work this morning, did the crisis night watch thing without anything unpleasant happening fortunatly, at about 07.20 this morning i stepped onto the patio for a smoke and a nice cuppa ( shivering, it was a bit chilly) when i looked up, and then wtf happened.

To my left and right were two identical looking very bright objects hanging motionless in the morningsky, no stars, no planes, no blinking lights, no helicopters in sight, so they were something else, i made a few seconds of footage of both of them, however with zooming in on them the images became more shaky ( and thus blurred into glowwurms), it was chilly outside so that explains one bit, the other bit is zooming causes the camera to amplify the shivering motion.( next time i will bring my tripod too). BUT the first seconds are not too bad, but not zoomed in too, so theres another issue with this footage if you will.

I would like to post this footage here, here is were the required assistance comes in, i have no external cd drive for my otherwise excelent netbook ( hooked up to a big screen) so i can not upload the software required for making this available to you all, i uploaded the footage from the SDHC card to my computer but now i am only able to view this on my windows media player, anybody got advice on how to convert this so i can post it ( in internet for dummies jargon please).

It would also be nice if someone could make a still shot out of it and post the images so i/we can get a better idea of what we are are looking at and what i saw this morning.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Ed

Okay, with some advice of Toek ( WakyTweaky) i managed to upload this footage by creating a Youtube account, feel free to comment here.

Hi Ed,

Isn't it possible for you to create a you tube account and upload the footage there?
That's how I do it when I shoot a video and want other people to see it too.

Looking forward to see your orbs :)

good luck!

I added "(converting a video)" to this thread's title. Assistance is requested in many forms on this forum :).

Merci Toek, zal er eens even een poging aan gaan wagen terwijl de rest van de niet Nederlandstalige gebruikers zich afvraagt wat ik hier in vredesnaam heb neergezet, grinn, goeie tip van je.

Ik dank u;)

Groet

Ok its uploaded in the OP now, no idea what can be made out of this, be my guest if you can enhance or create a more clear still image.

If somebody can give me some advice on how to improve on my sloppy camerawork i would apriciate that, ghehehe.

Thanks in advance.

Nice to see that it worked.

Never imagined myself as someone who could offer technical advice, related to computers and internet ;)

I watched the video. nice footage!

You where there to watch it with your own eyes.
I take it that you ruled out the possibility that you where watching stars of planets?
Because that's the first thing that came to mind when I saw it.
Did they at any time move? Like a flying object?

I know, at that time of day, when it is bright, some stars and planets can still be seen and they can appear to be quite big.
That would be my first guess, but it's hard to tell from a vid like this.

Just a quick bit of advice for all consumer videographers, so many make this very mistake. When you turn you camera on, turn your auto focus OFF! Next is zoom in tight on something you can see on earth and focus on it, now that auto focus is off everything that you zoom in or out of will always be in focus.
Too stop the shaky camera when the tripod is not around, lean against a solid object like your house wall, fence to help stabalize the shot.
Happy shooting

If you want to convert videos get a free software called Super. Ths is so easy to use.
If you have the file whether its a windows media file or not, you can open that file file form Super.
In super you can choose what kind of file you want it to be, I would recommend AVI for youtube. If you have an Apple use quicktime.
Try VLC Media Player too, it plays everything.

To boldly go where. yadayadayada;)

I think i did, never before in my still pretty young life i had seen that, but yeah, it crossed my mind when i looked at them.

Nope, just hung there, what also crossed my mind was they are police drones with infrared equipment on them ( to spot weed growing in attics and so on and so forth), they did however look a bit shiny, thats the strange thing and why i grabbed my camcorder.

Yup, gotcha, agree etc.

Likely planets,

Jupiter, Saturn, and Venus are all visible in the early hours this month, Jupiter, Mars and Venus can be brighter than any actual star so tend to hand around in the sky longer than the stars in the morning.

November Visible Planets
Morning...Venus, Jupiter, Saturn (11/12-30), Mercury (twilight) (11/24-30).
Evening...Mars, Uranus, Neptune, Mercury (twilight) (11/1-12).
Conjunction...Venus & Saturn (11/27).

Also called monopods, a small cheap one should run about $20-$30 USD, and they are a good convenient midpoint between tripod and handheld.
