Meals in a jar

For emergencies, preparing for hyperinflation and rising food costs or simply when there is little time to fix a meal, meals in a jar have a lot to offer.

These meals in a jar by Chef Tess (http://cheftessbakeresse.blogspot.com/2011/04/emergency-preparedness-and-everyday.html) have a shelf life of 7 – 10 years using dehydrated and freeze dried ingredients. After all dried ingredients are put into a jar, oxygen can be removed using a Pump-N-Seal, a FoodSaver or by using oxygen absorbers (http://ronmauer.net/blog/?page_id=2705).

FYI oxygen absorbers are exactly the same as "hand warmers" (both use iron oxide)

handwarmers are very inexpensive, "oxygen absorbers" not so much.
