Anastasia book 1 From the Ringing Cedars of Russia Series
I see the one we call here "Anastasia" has thanked your post :).

This introduction from Google books (http://books.google.com/books/about/Anastasia.html?id=xXIgpMHJ4M4C) might be useful:

Anastasia: Book 1 of the Ringing Cedars Series

Vladimir Megré - Ringing Cedars Press LLC, Jun 15, 2008 - 236 pages

"Anastasia" is Book 1 of The Ringing Cedars Book Series. This series of nine books tells the story of a remarkable woman named Anastasia, discovered in 1995 by a Siberian trader, Vladimir Megré, while he was plying the waters of the remote Ob River. Anastasia was born in the forest in 1969 to parents who died tragically when she was just a baby. Living for the most part without warm clothes, food cultivation or man-made shelter, she has survived on fruit, nuts, berries and mushrooms, brought to her by "wild" animals with which she lives in peaceful harmony. Megré initially spent three days with Anastasia, during which time she displayed such astounding knowledge, power and wisdom that he abandoned his business and, at her request, began writing this series. She told him she would encode the books with an energy that would cause them to sell in the millions. Despite his lack of writing experience, this is exactly what happened. It is Anastasia's ability to strike a chord in the heart of the reader that makes these books so very unusual. The purity and power of her words is provoking an outpouring of joy and hope in people from all walks of life. The series has sold over 11 million copies and has been translated into 20 different languages. This is the authorized English Edition.

The Editor's Afterword (available here, as a pdf) (www.ringingcedars.com/materials/book-1-afterword.pdf) has a couple page long introduction and enticement to read (or listen to, as above) this book.

I would so love to know what is happening with her currently and the son she had with Vladimir. He must be all grown up now or almost. Her books (I've read 4 of them) provided a few valuable pieces to the over all puzzle for me and I definitely think pouring our love into our local backyard gardens is one of the best ways to help create effective positive change. I've already influenced a number of people in that area to start growing their own food. There are so many ways this one simple act can be a part of the solution to a more sustainable future for us all.

I have just began reading the books, I am enjoying them so far, but this Vladimir I just want to punch on the nose. I guess the only way to be an entrepreneur is to be a bastard to others and treat them like crap especially if they say something he doesn't like, maybe a bit exaggerated for the books I don't know. But I would like to know of a book of a similar nature but actually written by a nice person who has an unusual encounter and so on.

Craig, it's his journey too and he is totally open and honest with his responses to Anastasia. He was an arse hole at the beginning but each book reveals changes in his consciousness. A fascinating series of books and a vision of the future I have no trouble incorporating into my life to the best of my ability.

I studied Russian history, (very basic) at high school. These books fill in a huge chasm of nothingness. It's a wonderful story.

I believe Vladimir's personality is what makes it so real. It is definitely not made up or contrived, she chose an everyman to spread the messages. Sometimes he expresses what I am thinking too being quite jaded.... Here is a link I have to download the pdf or read it online.
