Over the years there have been several references on the forum to the famous 'Friendship' case in Italy as related in the book 'Mass Contacts' by Stefano Breccia and the Italian documentary on a you-tube.
Some time ago I watched a documentary about another 'Friendship' case in Chile and recently found the documentary again 'Isla Friendship' on you-tube:

There is no real resolution at the end of the documentary as the researchers appear to have been deliberately misled in their efforts to find the mysterious island where the contact took place and where some believe there is a UFO base. Unfortunately, as my Spanish is rudimentary I only got the gist of it. Nonetheless, it appeared fascinating and I would love to know if any of our South American members or anyone else can add anything to this story.
Googling the name ‘Friendship’ resulted in quite a lot of information from - to name just a couple of sites – Mysterious Universe http://mysteriousuniverse.org/2012/08/friendship-in-strange-places-a-mysterious-chilean-ufo-story/ and some additional information to the story on 'Inexplicata'http://inexplicata.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/chile-friendship-and-its-collateral.html One writer has come to the conclusion that there were no ET's involved but that the whole affair was organised by the US to cover up an assassination attempt by Nixon on Allende. It has been pretty well established that Allende was overthrown by a coup probably orchestrated by the CIA in 1973 and yet some of the activity was as late as 1985 while the documentary was made in 1998. Most of articles are in Spanish so I had to rely on the rather unreliable Google Translator.
There is also the controversial book by Victor Farias 'Heidegger and Nazism' in which reference is made to Chilean politicians receiving money from Nazi's for certain Chilean islands. Much of the book's controversy has been about the portrayal of the philosopher Heidegger as a committed Nazi and not as someone who had merely flirted with it in his youth and Salvador Allende's suggested anti-semitism.
There are references to UFO’s, strange radio messages, missing time, odd bright lights, mysterious boats, unknown metals and unusual medical treatments.
As some of the theories do not corroborate each other and having read some of the comments posted by contributors on various sites, I am left confused. Even taking into consideration the trolls who get so much amusement out of undermining these sites, there is so much conflicting information.
In reading the testimonials here (http://inexplicata.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/chile-friendship-and-its-collateral.html) I wonder if yet again we have another nazi/UFO connection and that what went on on Friendship Isle was neither one or the other but both.
