Quite revealing the meteor crash in Columbia! Spaceweather announces the close-range "fly-by" of two asteroids today! Wonder what effects they will have on Earth?

From Spaceweather.com:

DOUBLE ASTEROID FLYBY: It's a cosmic coincidence. Two asteroids, each about 10 to 15 meters wide, will fly past Earth within hours of one another on Sept. 8th. Although both are coming inside the orbit of the Moon, there is no danger of impact. At closest approach, 2010 RF12 will be 77,000 km (0.2 LD) away; 2010 RX30 will be even farther at 231,000 km (0.6 LD). Advanced amateur astronomers may be able to track the asteroids using these ephemerides. The fast-moving space rocks will shine like stars of 15th or 16th magnitude. Good luck, observers!

Interesting (the quoted text says tomorrow). This morning I checked above top secret for the first time in months and I was drawn to a thread that discusses whether rapture is scheduled for tomorrow as well :):

In a Nutshell...

It is the conclusion of this book that the Rapture of the Church will likely occur on this Feast of Trumpets 2010, which will span from September 8th at twilight through the 9th at the time of the new moon.

Not that I think it is going to happen anything weird but at least it is a prophecy that won't have us waiting for too long.

Regarding asteroids, I've just remembered the ball of fire that crossed the northern USA a few months ago (http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/2010/04/meteor-spotted-over-midwest.html).
