View Full Version : Burning Witches

I reckon those here who have been doing their homework in studying real history, at some point come to the same conclusion that nothing has changed, over the last several thousand years anyway. Absolutely nothing. General society is pretty pampered these days, and warm beds and full bellies smooth over a lot of otherwise rough edges. But what happens when/if that way of life goes bye bye?

It is said that after 15 days, cannibalism begins to take hold. How far down that road will people in general go, before they rise together, and demand something be done about it? Well we know of course that there would be a hidden power waiting in the wings, biding their time to meet this inevitable demand, and restore "order". THEIR way.

If I were in charge of this power, one of the first things I would do would be to root out any thinkers, I mean trouble makers. People like us here at Avalon for instance. How easy would it be to mind f**k the desperate masses into believing that anyone who seems to have a mind of their own, who "oddly" just wish to be left alone, and who see/feel/know things that others in general don't, are the root cause of all these problems? "THEY DID THIS WITH THEIR BLACK MAGIC!!!"

Hell, I'm already seeing this type of thing, on a smaller scale, being played out now in the news here in the States, the old false choice. Either you are for disarming the public, or you stand with those who don't mind seeing more innocent children murdered. I can easily see the "different" people envisioned in my little scenario being labeled as witches, whose magical powers are the one obsticle to re-establishing a polite society. And we all know how witches are dealt with from the "old days", don't we?

Does anybody seriously think this couldn't happen again? Just like burning, looting, and murdering the knowledge of old?

How easy would it be to give people this false choice: "Either you stand with law and order, or you stand with the evil witches".

Impossible? I think not...(LOL)

With anarchy anything is possible.

You are right. The "you are with us or you are against us" is constantly being played out in the media and our governments. The media, especially in the U.S. has done great harm in dividing our society by drawing an imaginary line so they can write about people stepping over it. It's always us against them.

Clear thinkers are being demonized these days. I believe that to many, some of us here would be considered the demons because of our thought patterns and lets face it, we are still on the fringe for the time being. We ARE a minority and sometimes even a threat to TPTB. That of course will be subject to change. The sooner the better.

Fred,

Yesterday I experienced this "either/or" mentality with a coworker blurted out his belief that pretty much all people who are voicing their opinions against gun control are crazed assault rifle fanatics prepping for martial law or zombies or something. When I told him I was neutral on the issue, all he said was "Really?" Like it was out of the ordinary.

It goes without saying that this horrific incident and others like it, have given people a reason to be vigilant about their beliefs, which are being perpetuated by passion and attachment. In my experience as an observer, it seems like it's always gotta be I'm right and you're wrong, so whenever someone comes in and says "well you both have interesting points but it boils down to self-responsibility," it is so out of the ordinary to some of these people that it's generally disregarded. Its like these polarities are already "set up" if you will, which allows people to find comfort in attaching themselves to these beliefs. So when a third alternative is proposed that threatens their belief, people think "let's get rid of this guy/girl, bc we cant have an argument with him/her".

Blow that up into a large-scale collapsed civilization scenario and these people with the third alternatives might be facing some serious heat, pun intended. It's hard to say if I could see that happening in my city, I haven't really made it that far outside of where I live to experience other ways of life/thought, but from the way I see people quabbling back and forth about their beliefs without considering "What do I really know?", an intensified version of that would involve weeding out the "it starts with ME" thinkers.

I really expected some sort of Monty Python reference when I clicked this thread. I'll wait patiently, I suppose.

But seriously, I'm partly disgusted/partly amused at how many variations of "witches" we have identified amongst ourselves. The internal bickering and shunning going on among the "99%" of us is pretty counter-productive. If we're not complaining about the guy that has slightly more than we do then we're scolding the guy that has slightly less, and telling him that it's his fault for not working harder. I envision a group of people chained up in the hold of an old ship, rowing in order to get fed. Rather than being pissed off at the guy feeding them, they're arguing amongst themselves about who is or is not pulling their weight.

When the burning is done, the insideous hysteria is found to be generated for control of the mind of the masses. Devide and conquer is one of the techniques. We must refute this system of govern and work together to overcome this. Evil flourishes only when good people allow it, so take it to the personal level and do something even if it is only to speak out.

It's funny, I've always had the worst time with the Fox news listening hard core right holding the line. I just won't get into these debates with these hard core believers, but now it is that way with folks from the left. It's so funny but our country at times is like a Jim Jones Cult, with everyone drinking the Kool-Aid.
I guess this Kool-Aid comes in two flavors, and for those who think outside the confines of those flavors, we are apparently not sane.

The "Witch Burning Era" of medieval times, was the flushing out of esoteric spiritual knowledge from the masses, particularly women. Any woman who owned a cat or was close to nature or animals = witch. Any woman who practiced anything spiritual that was not authorized by the "Church" = witch. Any woman who had any ties to the truth of reality = witch. Even a woman caught reading the bible = witch (women weren't allowed to read, let alone interpret any religious texts on her own -- the punishment for this was death).

Let us have a true understanding of what has been labelled "Witch" -- as it still applies today in the true sense of what really is happening.

My 2 cents ;)

Fred, to me, banning a semi-paranormal blog and throwing people into hospitals (my family did that once lol)
is merely a grade or two away from burning the witch.

I used to put disclaimers on some articles that said "please don't burn the witch".

So to answer your hilarious questions and awesome thread -- yes, yes it COULD happen. And I think it will.
But you know Tyburn Tree wasn't built for hanging witches so much as hanging kings.

So I guess a society needs access to all kinds of violence before it will give up on things like cat burning.
I am not sure what the answer is, because hunger games etc. are quite popular, and there is plenty of kindling for bonfires.

_______________

Did you know this practice stems from the ancient Danish practice of cat and witch burning?
Also that victims to Taranis (Jupiter) i think were burned alive in old Europe. that was the origin of the BURNING MAN, or better yet, the WICKER MAN.
And it was so horrible to witness that even a Roman Emperor couldn't believe his eyes when the scholars came home with their drawings from the North. :jaw:

We are not, and never were, so far from the stake.
Be well!

Hey there DeDukshyn, the way I understand it the overall picture never changes, but the details do. Using the witch burning era was more a metaphor, for any operation of ridding the planet of knowledge that could ever challenge the elite. All that is really needed, regardless of the era, is an excuse and a rallying cry. It could just as easily be "crucify the false prophets", or "hang the treasonous ones".

Anyone who is deemed "different", and thereby a "threat".

As Thor in the film says "Your ancestors call it magic, but from where I come from they are one in the same"

I wonder if a certain group of us (in a future life probably) will at some point possess abilities that appear to be magic to the masses, and thus the witch hunt of modern times will begin.

Modern films are littered with examples of where the heroes, which the masses want to emulate, are subverted and sometimes even destroyed simply because of fear. I think the message here is that history will repeat itself, just on a different level, if we are not careful. We'll end up drawing and quartering the ones who come to save us.

It is said that after 15 days, cannibalism begins to take hold.

My grandmother said, that as people began to walk out of the firestorm of Hamburg...which would have been in that given timeframe....that is what she saw. She said that..in the wreckage, she saw people eating their own family members.

http://www.historylearningsite.co.uk/uploads/pics/hamburg.gif

The social support systems that might have been possible, was long since exhausted. Long since. I have no reason to doubt her words. When I say this, sometimes, I say that she saw people eating the other dead. Those where not her words. She specifically stated 'eating their own dead family members'.

This was a violent, ultra violent war of attrition.

That the 'allied' forces 'won', does not mean that they are entitled to edit out their crimes, to excuse them by removing them from the history of their actions. This is not an attempt to blame or any other such juvenile thought. this is simply a matter of the record of the reality of what actually happened.

one cannot achieve balance with an editorialized history, as this leaves a false path of knowing/being that causes an imbalance in the future.

The back of the bike one is riding must have enough balance ..so that the drive systems involved in the given 'here and now moment'....can steer the front of the bike correctly.

This editorialization ended up giving the 'allied' side of this conflict a false front and moment of expression, and is part of the parcel of being...that has led directly to the imbalance we see today.

it seems so obvious yet we do not live this truth, we seem to strive to avoid it; We must always live in truth, complete truth. For if we strive for a perfect future, we will not achieve it, if we live in a shape of moment/now... that is formed from a lie. From editorialzations.

Thus, we must strive as hard as we can, to find the edges of our reality, where the rubber meets the road..and strive to find truth in them, and share it as widely as possible.

The idea that we know the truth of Iraq, Iran, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, religious history, corporate history, political history, and so on. That we must strive, as hard as we value each breath, to have truth only.

Otherwise, we will live a lie. That is the kind of truth that one must face. That truth starts in the self, at home, in each person, individually.

Otherwise, you'll never get there. For all your so called yearnings, that the set-up is for failure, as the first step... is set in self lies.

That the coloration, the blindness that allows for lies in the greater world, in your given personal existence and perception...is set deep within you. Think of it for a few seconds. It should slowly become clear......

Exactly how I see it as well -- I was trying to emphasize that fact a "witch" is just someone who is a threat to the powers that be. From those times the demonization and collective programming about what a "witch" is still stands to this day in the minds of many, yet the reality is that the opposite of that programming is what is true.

Addition:
We have several names for them these days -- "terrorist" being one. "Conspiracy theorist" another. ;)

Fred, isn’t this exactly what we are saying about the PTB? (they did this with their black magic)

Hi sleepy, good question! Do you mean that as in we are describing their rituals, or that we are blaming them for the state we find ourselves in?

And in their minds don’t they consider themselves the thinkers?

Yep, they are the thinkers, the unbeatable master chess players, and we are the creators. They have forsaken creating to have power, a very poor choice. Thinking is like low magic. It's useful and powerful, but it has a ceiling. Creating has no ceiling. If we're allowed to think too much, eventually we'll figure out we are Creators. At this point the game is over, so thinking is highly discouraged. http://nexus.2012info.ca/forum/images/smilies/newadditions/smile.gif

So, if I understand what you are saying , “we are the creators”, we have created the mess we find ourselves in and we have to create a better way. The game is not over if we haven’t created a better way yet, is it?

Absolutely, but we do love playing "the game", don't we?

A timely excerpt from John Michael Greer's Archdruid report last week:

It finally dawned on me that from his perspective, he was, because the point he thought I was making was something like “democracy is good,” or more exactly that the verbal noise “democracy” ought to be linked with warm fuzzy feelings. He was insisting in response, more or less, that the verbal noise “democracy” ought to be linked to cold prickly feelings, and his rhetorical strategy—a very common one on the internet these days, as it happens—was simply to attempt to associate various cold prickly feelings with the verbal noise in question, in the hope that enough of the cold prickly feelings would stick to the verbal noise to make his point. The fact that I might be trying to do something other than linking a verbal noise to an emotional state seemingly did not occur to him.

It’s only fair to point out that he was far from the only person whose response to that post amounted to some equally simplistic emotional linkage. On the other side of the political spectrum, for instance, was a reader who insisted that the United States was not an empire, because empires are bad and the United States is good. To him, the verbal noise “empire” was linked to cold prickly feelings, and those clashed unbearably with the warm fuzzy feelings he linked to the word “America.” It’s a fine example of the lumpen-Aristotelianism against which Alfred Korzybski contended in vain: A is A and therefore A cannot be not-A, even if A is a poorly chosen hypergeneralization that relates primarily to an emotional state and embraces an assortment of vaguely defined abstractions with no connection between them other than a nearly arbitrary assignment to the same verbal noise.

- speaking from a norwegian point of view.
Catholic Christianity (insanity) was
introduced here around year 1000 AD.
Shortly after that the old system of
local chiefs and old believes were
violently scoffed out of existence .

The Kings and the Church were
partners in crime ...
Scaring or "persuading" many
to join in vote for them ..

Later the Inquesition was
released to snuff out the
last (powerful) reminants
of the old (pre "church")
