The 'Tabernacle' of God, Himself!
From the 'Cradle',......

To the 'Cross',.......http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e391/eveori/jesus_on_cross.jpg[/IMG]
Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 7:14 (KJV)
14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Matthew 1:23 (KJV)
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
John 1:1, 14 (KJV)
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,.......
1 Timothy 6:14-16 (KJV)
14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
Make sure that 'Christ' is completely entrenched in your personal 'Christmas!'
( please take 'this' in the spirit of my goodwill and intentions for 'everyone',.....regardless to whether you believe in God,.....or not!)
Merry Christmas to 'all',....and God Bless!,........kreagle

Thank you so much.
I also kind of celebrate christmas and say 'merry christmas', but I wonder how it is possible to be a christian these days. If you think you have something valuable to say about it, I'll appreciate it. I really like to THINK.

Feren,
Brother, we have a thread titled, 'Bible Topics and Questions' which the Lord laid upon my heart to begin sometime back. There are a great deal of topics there that should be 'right down your alley', if you really are a 'THINKER'. Come on over, and make yourself at home. We can discuss anything there that you might like to opine about.
I hope to see, and hear, from you there!

Your picture of a tortured and bloodied Jesus is very distasteful, IMO.
BTW. Merry Christmas.

Always do keep Christ in the Mass holiday, however he was not born on Dec 25th but in March.

Your picture of a tortured and bloodied Jesus is very distasteful. I am sure you have all sorts of blitherings for your defense of this gruesome posting with the words Merry Christmas to accompany it. You may think you have a higher commission, but this kind of display shows a disturbed psyche.
Houman has a thread where a mangled Christ is more at home in. Not a Merry Christmas thread, which we already have. Without snuff porn.
BTW. Merry Christmas.
Modwiz,
The 'picture' you see, here, is equally displayed in Holy Writ, for all to read. It's graphic image, whether 'seen', ( or read), is simply intended to remind us all of the 'extreme lengths He went to in an effort to secure/provide our salvation'. If you feel that this 'image' reveals a disturbed psyche, (mine),......then you must equally believe that the 'image of the written Word' is also derived from a 'disturbed author's spirit', ( His).
Isaiah 53:5 (KJV)
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
If it's any consolation to you, Modwiz, I could never 'personally' sit and watch Mel Gibson's 2004 movie,...'The Passion of the Christ', for this reason. I understand his movie is nothing but 'gore from the onset to the end', and I could never stomach such an onslaught like this for 'two straight hours' as the movie depicts. However, a 'snapshot' of this factual event should be recognized, ( and endured), by every sincere student/believer of His Word, and that's precisely why it's graphically recorded in the Bible. A 'snapshot' here,..and there.
'Snapshots' that are eliminated, or purposely set aside, prohibits one from getting the 'full picture', my dear friend.
Peace and Love,........kreagle

Huh, just stumbled across the original post because of Modwiz's last comment. I wouldn't have gone there otherwise, thinking it to be the Christmas thread I posted on yesterday. Even though I see it's since been "cleaned up", I agree about the reference to the pics in Houman's thread, except when I go there I'm prepared to dance with that type of vibe, I wasn't this morning. Seeing that picture took me from happily sipping coffee, in a very good mood, to having a big knot in my stomach. I hadn't put my big boy hat on for the day yet, and likely wasn't even going to bother putting it on at all today.
Sorry Kreagle, not trying to pile on man, just giving you my honest opinion. When I think about a man named Yeshua who may have roamed this planet, I like to think of, and strive to emulate, someone who boldly tried to bring some light into a very dark place. Not someone who came here to be the tortured and slaughtered Lamb of God. Now you'll note that I don't argue this stuff in Bible threads, because I see no use in arguing such things, but a thread innocently titled "Merry Christmas Avalon", can lead someone into a succor punch with immediately bearing witness to a tortured and dying man.
But hey, Merry Christmas anyway Avalon,
Fred

Kreagle are you aware that there very young members here in Avalon, As young as 11yrs old. Why are you showing a bloodied image of Jesus created by man in modern times on Christmas Day.
Although Jesus was not born on the 25th Dec, Christmas is the day we celebrate the birth of Jesus and not his death.
Do you not think we have enough blood and gore shoved in our face throughout the year.
Anyways may the light of the Christ shine upon all.
Merry Christmas
Peace

To billyji and 'everyone else',
I can assure everyone here that I have no intentions, goals, ( or desire), to offend anyone. My sole intentions for this thread was to not only celebrate His 'birth' but to celebrate His 'entire life' and events here on earth. If I'm guilty of anything, it's that I have supplied more information than most care to think about. The opening theme of my thread,.....'From the Cradle to the Cross',......celebrates His entire life here on earth,......which more adequately describes the real meaning of Christmas to many.
The 'factual events of Calvary' do not offend me,........they 'liberate' me, ( and you, too!),.......and that calls for a celebration, my dear friends! Without the 'factual events of Calvary',....we wouldn't even be celebrating Christmas at all! The term 'Christmas', and even Jesus, Himself, would not even merit a 'footnote in history' were it not for the 'factual events of Calvary'.
I humbly ask 'forgiveness' from the 'offended',.....as I joyfully celebrate His 'entire life!' Who else, but a Divine loving God like Him, would think of doing what He did for all of humanity? Let the 'celebration' begin!
Love, Peace, and a 'genuine' Merry Christmas to 'all',......kreagle

Hello Kreagle and Merry Christmass to everyone! In the spirit of the Christmass season combined with the spirit of Avalon I think that this news item will be satisfactory to the full range of all members heart contents -
This was announced in 2003 at the height of the illegal US-allied bombing and invasion of Iraq) :
US President George W. Bush, US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, UK Prime Minister Tony Blair and UK Foreign Minister Jack Straw were banned for life in April 2003 from the Birthplace of Jesus Christ
"War criminals George W. Bush and Tony Blair were banned for life in April 2003 from the Church of Nativity in Bethlehem, widely believed to be the birth-place of Jesus Christ.
The priest in the Church of the Nativity has every right to ban Bush and his supporters since they have marred the teachings of Christ. Their entry into the church will tarnish it as hands are covered in the blood of the innocent,” Karmash told The Jordan Times.
The local priest went on to say that he felt the punishment was not enough. [B]“We need a tougher one to eradicate evil at its very root,” he exclaimed.
The Nativity Church’s parishioner, Father Panaritius, said during a rally organised Sunday by the Greek Orthodox community in Bethlehem that Bush, Rumsfeld, Blair and Straw are “war criminals and children killers that will be banned from entering the church forever!”

Kreagle by friend and Modwiz my friend (and fellow "Bronxite")-
You both prove that you can have a completely different set of beliefs but still have beautiful souls. So I wish you both a wonderful holiday season and much love and happiness in the New Year. May all of our Avalon friends be blessed too.

I understand the spirit in which the picture was posted. In a lot of circles, pictures like this aren't unusual.
I actually never thought about that image the way that other posters interpreted it. So I'm glad that others brought it to light.
Hope everyone had a good Christmas.

Merry Christmas from the homeles shelter were i work ( whatever Merry Christmas may mean)
Short video from the shelter were people who get their once a year bleeding hearts have dropped of some goodies for the people who unfortunately stay there, the comments are in Dutch btw, the Turkish guy does security and i am the honky holding the cam and giving the comment, the comments states as above ( more or less). Interesting detail, the friendly givers had no clue about the demography of our guests so all the boxes also contained ladies underwear, the guys wear them as hats now, images not incluided for privacy reasons not for underpants reasons, just picture a few guys who share twelve teeth between them smiling at you wearing ladies underwear, it was a good day.

Most humans are pretty nice btw, the less they have the more human they become, i do not indulge in intellectual masturbation exercises about karma or deserving what they got,or taking personal rsponseability, thats pretty much selfevident isnt it and yet, all they have is broken hearts and most of them have had enough of it and that should be their right too, put your money/time where your mouth is and the world changes instantaniously, i know i did and im an idiot, so if i can so can you.
Merry whatever everybody!!!!!!
Hugs and kisses from the dude who plugs the holes that evil has made. gets a messy with all that bad **** leaking out isnt it, so join the cleanup crew.

Chez, I always did think the crucifix was a poor choice for representing Christianity, so I agree this image is over the top.
