View Full Version : UFO Video/Still image burden of proof

Why isn't there a standard to the video/pic evidence that's considered to be genuine?
Seems like however you might want to interpret some of the images.....it's still speculation.
It would be nice if we could develope some sort of protocol to say this evidence is undeniable.
And the ****ed up part is.....whatever standard might be devised.....almost NONE of the existing photographic evidence would meet that standard.

That's not possible, so far as I know.

Anyone that photographs a UFO has no burden of proof at all. None. It's just a way of documenting an observed phenomena.

We had a member a while back who I believe had his membership revoked. He asked anyone to go outside with a decent camera, point it at the sky and 'click'.
I did this and to my utter surprise , I had a ufo shaped object on one of the snaps I took. Very far away but when zoomed in, looked the business.
I know that at least I have one genuine, non modified and taken by me picture that can be my standard.

Hello,
I am not sure if this is what you are looking for but here is a protocol that I use most of the times:
1. Did I take the photo myself in a conscious way, while taking all precautions I could think of to prevent errors in recording the image (clean lens, clear weather, no bugs that I am aware of and so on...). If this is the case then I know I have a genuine photo of an Unidentified Flying Object. If that object "alien" (as in not from this Earth) that cannot be said from a photo image.
2. Someone else that I know and trust completely took that picture, again doing his/hers best to remove recording errors.
3. If I found the picture on the web then I try to find other pictures of the same object from totally different angles and by different people. This in itself is not proof of anything but is a lot harder to fake than a photo from a single angle and single source. Finding a few videos from different angles of same "object" also goes along way to increase the credibility of the report. If it is possible, would be nice to check any radar data, if the appearance occurred next to an airport or some facility equipped with a radar.
Other aspects you need to have in mind while investigating an image:
Recorded images suffer form errors caused by lens construction, sensor sensitivity, compression software and any kind of hardware or software filter applied to that image.
Just to give you some examples:
- most cameras do not work in low light or very bright light. This means that photos taken at night (without special equipment) will record so much noise and distortions that the image is useless. Your UFO/alien-face/monster/black-hole may simply be noise! There is no way of telling. In the same way photographing the Sun (without special equipment) will "burn" your image: lens and sensor get overloaded (and possibly destroyed) so anything you record with that you cannot be sure it's "real" even if looks like "Nibiru" or "second sun" or a "mothership shooting rays at the Sun" etc. To understand this think of how you perceive sound: if someone is talking at a normal level you hear them fine and you understand clearly what is said. If volume is too low you no longer get the message clearly if at all. Same, with a very high volume, if your hearing is not destroyed, you still can't make out what is being said.
- to fit more pictures/images on a small memory card, the image is compressed using algorithms that lose data in the process (most known is JPEG). Zooming that image looking for UFOs is again not helpful as you may end up haunting what are called "jpeg artifacts"
Indeed applying the rules above we may conclude that most of the pictures you find today on the web are a waste of time as they do not prove or disprove anything and there is no conclusive way of determining if they are "for real!"
That being said I hear that there are places on this planet where your UFO's hunt may be more successful and one of those places is ECETI Farm (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?3596-Up-At-The-Ranch--James-Gilliland-and-Trout-Lake). I am still waiting to go there and have my own UFO pictures :)

Good Points Silo,
However, imo it would be totally impossible to "put into place" for the following reasons.
Lets say for example:
A daylight or night-time photo was taken, it showed a good clear image of what [to anyone with a small brain] appears to be a UFO?
-and or an alien being?
The skeptics would straight away shout "this image is far too clear to be real and therefor it must be a fake"!
If the image showed a grainy image, albeit still clear enough for people to make out what the image is supposed to be, then again the skeptics would "shout, this image shows no proof, its far too grainy to make out beyond doubt of what it really is"?
We [the believers] have got to produce something so drastic in order for them [the skeptics] to even begin to take us seriously, even then it wont be without a fight.
They [the skeptics] on the other hand have only got to prove a fake once, and it puts us back years & years!
Unfortunately, i dont know what the answer would be but, i feel that even if an entity was produced on live T.V. for all to see, explaining, how they are able to travel through time & space, giving a question & answer session to scientists and anyone who could say that its a lie , there would still be those that would not believe
Take care
IMO its a very hard cause that we have to fight !!
- BUT all worth it

Thanks for your responses....
I suppose, and I'm sure many of you share this feeling, I am just becomming frustrated. I feel like something is being dangled in front of me, somehing elusive.
I am very cautious of what I feed my brain/conciousness and I often wonder if I am not being led down a primrose path in what SEEMS like a legitimate area of inquiry.
I just wish there were a better way to seperate the wheat from the chaff.
