A few years ago I hurt my back while I was lifting weights. Since the injury my upper
back falls out of place almost on a daily basis. So I have to put my back in place daily.
It take about 210 pounds of pressure to align my spine. My question is? Am i causing
damage to my spine doing this? I have noticed if I don't align my spine I get headaches.

I assume you are seeing a professional chiropractor?
If not - you should.
DIY chiropractic adjustment (when possible) is all well and good, but normally you get advice on that first to make sure you are doing it right.

Hey, Jagman-
My ex is a chiropractor. I will ask him for an answer to your question.

well here you go, im an osteopathic physician, i also am a bio mechanic specialist, from what im gathering its not your back thats really the problem, thats where your feeling it, i would state that your probably having a problem with a femoral rotation, that in turn is causing pressure on your sacral region, that in turn causes a sort of twisting in your spine, in turn causes your back to go out, its not a good idea to realign yourself, you should get that looked after, many chiropractors could help, the only thing is if they have the ability or know how to rotate your femor back where it is supposed to be, hope that helps, take care,

Hello Jagman:
As a person who was involved with chiropractors for over 25 years I can tell you there is also other ways.
Once on a holiday my back went out of wack and upon going to a chiropractor the Doc told me something that changed my life. By this time I had been going for over 25 years to chiropractors. This chiropractor told me that if my back couldn't be adjusted to stay in within 2 or 3 treatments then anything else was a waste of time. After that experience I decided to study and find another way for myself.
It came with a rental of exercise equipment that I had no idea would work?!
This equipment was an inverter. Within a couple times on the inverter and my back was better than in 25 years. Now anytime my back goes out you are correct I get on the inverter and it always brings my back into normal parameters.
I would suggest renting one first to see if it does for you what it did for me but Costco always has a unit on their sales floor. They are always within anyones budget and the best quality units.
Good luck! You have nothing to lose but only to gain.

Physical problems require physical attention, not online opinions. You've already had plenty of relevant advice from other qualified people, but just to reinforce it - seek advive from an osteopath por chiropractor ASAP, find out what's really wrong, and act. Another treatment regime which will help strengthen your body is acupuncture.
Good luck

I'd say try matrix energetics. I had back problems for 20 years, had to see a chiropractor or massage therapist every month and I'd be okay for a while until the problem returned. I had 7 sessions of matrix energetics a year ago and I have a new back.

Its extremely weird but it worked for me, anyway.

No, you're no doing any damage, provided you don't pull too far. May I suggest the Teeter, that tips you upside down to naturally allow body weight to stretch the joints. This allows the chemicals and cells to promote new cushion to the joints if done or a couple of months, and will aid in repair as much as possible. Go to teetertv.com and I think there is a trial period, and to buy it full out, it's 3 or four payments of 39.00 to own. The testimonies are stuff like, " I sent them the payment the very 1st week I tried it." Golf back strain and disc problems like my husbands. I'm glad I finally found one, because I've seen it in used in Asian cultures for alignment as well as acupuncture. I finally am gonna get my husband some relief of deteriorating disc(5 lower tail bone up) horrible for sitting or standing when not aligned and nerve pressure can bring him tears feelng so helpless to end the pain. If that is how you are feeling, go to the site and check it out there are payment arrangements and trial period, can't beat trying it before you buy it.

Thanks Chancy I couldn't recall the correct name of the Teeter "Inverter".
This is what I'm talking about and it's amazing as a at home fix when healthcare prices of chiropractor is not there. This looks to be just what the doctor and medicare, should have ordered.

Jagman,
Yoga yoga yoga... that's the best way! It will take some time, but the life long benefits will indeed be rich. I would combine that with the chiropractic until you are balanced enough. Then I would keep on with the yoga for the rest of your life. I personally do this at home without going to classes as I like to maintain poses longer then classes allow. But going to a few classes to learn at first is excellent as well as picking up a few books on technique. Yoga is great as it is a non violent way to get in touch, strengthen, and balance your body issues. The poses can be done at first in very limited forms until you get going. I wish you all the best!

I have used the services of chiropractors and they have been very helpful for a number of mis-alignments.
I have used the services of osteopaths and although quite expensive, in my experience, they're better than chiropractors since an osteopath re-aligned my body after a severe injury where physiotherapy and chiropractic treatments had failed.
But I have a friend who fell off a ladder years ago and and although she didn't break anything, her entire body was thrown off kilter and suffered unbearable pain for years. She tried physiotherapy, chiropractors, osteopaths, and nothing worked. She lived in utter pain for years, being able to function only by taking strong painkillers every day, that is, until she tried rolfing. Rolfing requires 10 sessions and they are quite pricey, but to my friend, they were worth every penny as she has been pain free and fully aligned since the rolfing adjustments. To the best of my knowledge, unless one re-injures oneself, 10 sessions of rolfing will re-align the body for life.

Almost all of this is good advice... on top of chiropractic and inverters and yoga get to a physical therapist and ask for exercies to develope the CORE strength in that area... even a good chiropracter should be able to do this...
This cores strenght exercies wont do a dam thing unless you work the program though. Your back keeps going out because the muscles are not strong enough to hold them in... and this weakness can result from injury.

I have used a chiropractor off and on for 20 years. I use to have lower back issues until I started doing yoga 2-3 times a week. I have been doing yoga for 10 years now. That combined with spinal manipulation stopped my problem and I no longer see a chiropractor for that issue.
