A PAIR of world-renowned quantum scientists say they can prove the existence of the soul.

American Dr Stuart Hameroff and British physicist Sir Roger Penrose developed a quantum theory of consciousness asserting that our souls are contained inside structures called microtubules which live within our brain cells.

Their idea stems from the notion of the brain as a biological computer, "with 100 billion neurons and their axonal firings and synaptic connections acting as information networks".

Dr Hameroff, Professor Emeritus at the Departments of Anesthesiology and Psychology and Director of the Centre of Consciousness Studies at the University of Arizona, and Sir Roger have been working on the theory since 1996.

They argue that our experience of consciousness is the result of quantum gravity effects inside these microtubules - a process they call orchestrated objective reduction (Orch-OR).

In a near-death experience the microtubules lose their quantum state, but the information within them is not destroyed. Or in layman's terms, the soul does not die but returns to the universe.

Dr Hameroff explained the theory at length in the Morgan Freeman-narrated documentary Through the Wormhole, which was recently aired in the US by the Science Channel.

The quantum soul theory is now trending worldwide, thanks to stories published this week by The Huffington Post and the Daily Mail, which have generated thousands of readers comments and social media shares.

"Let's say the heart stops beating, the blood stops flowing, the microtubules lose their quantum state," Dr Hameroff said.

"The quantum information within the microtubules is not destroyed, it can't be destroyed, it just distributes and dissipates to the universe at large.

'If the patient is resuscitated, revived, this quantum information can go back into the microtubules and the patient says "I had a near death experience".'

In the event of the patient's death, it was "possible that this quantum information can exist outside the body indefinitely - as a soul".

Dr Hameroff believes new findings about the role quantum physics plays in biological processes, such as the navigation of birds, adds weight to the theory.

interesting isn't it?

I knew it. That's a load off of my mind. When you die, you find out that you were just dreaming... again.

Still theory yet to be proven.

our current science nothing but bunch of theory...theory for after life and NDE/OBE.

That''s utter nonsense. Then they'll say 'well here's your proof', to the guys who already know.

Then they'll try to patent the damn thing.

What did he say? It's 'trending'? F__ me dead.

ALL there Is, IS CONSCIOUSNESS.

PERIOD...

ALL Else, is an 'illusion'...

As Seth would say... "camoflage"

In Unity, Peace and Love

(for CONSCIOUSNESS IS LOVE)

This is a great article and I thank you!
I've been waiting to hear more on this, thanks a ton!!!

I've not had a NDE and wanted to know what was going on with the others.

I'd let it go and let it be. Anything that takes the mainstream mind toward universal knowing and knowledge and opening..is a good thing. right now, I'm not sure their moth has found even the slightest glimmer, so at least finding the correct quadrant on the compass..... is actually a good thing.

Definition can wait until they are at least headed in the correct direction.

I agree that it is ridiculous to try to quantify the unquatifiable. To contain the uncontainable. To measure the immeasurable. You get the idea. Imho this is why, at the subatomic level, everything starts becoming probabilities at best. Oh the particle is here now, oh wait it's there, now it's gone altogether, where is it!!! Then the subjectivity of the observer comes into play. Now things really get slippery. Such is the soul.

On the other hand, I believe there is some kind of point at which science and spirit meet, though it's very tenuous. I agree that anything that gets more people pointed to what really matters is useful and therefore a good thing! So if quantum physicists want to say something is proof of the soul, so be it. Though they still don't have the thing in itself, the truth, the genuine article, rather they have another signpost. Granted some signs are brighter than others!

that reminds me of Sandman, youniverse -- the episode where Dream and Destruction visit a college in Europe and see a man dissecting an orangutan.
Dream asks, "you they think they can impale the soul of it on the edge of their knives, draw its dreams naked and screaming from its head?"

Well that just confirms what I already knew - but what is beyond the veil is anyone's guess.

I wonder if it's like "The Nexus" in Star Trek: Generations. In that you can do anything you could ever want but it lacks a certain something: realism. Because you know it is all an illusion. The prime example being Kirk doing the jump with his horse but not feeling afraid- maybe we are devoid of the full range of emotion in that state... maybe the duality of our existence here is better than being "up there".

I wonder if that's why our souls chose this existence... to learn by doing and the resulting first hand experience of becoming "something from nothing".

I think so! Isn't that why God fragmented Itself into infinite number of particles to then go out and experience every variety of reality possible? And here we are!

If scientists are catching on, hemmed in by their boundaries, well power to it!
