My friend was over the other day and asked me if I heard of the case? Since I didn't he mentioned how the family had an amazing encounter. The police never found the whereabouts of the McPherson family after the checked the location when neighbors called the poice after hearing gunshots.
I tried to find the original that this came from. The only copies that claim the original are fake and staged on youtube. Has ayone heard of this amazing case and where the original is located to post on the thread? cheers

Uhm, no. This was super-low budget film/video. It came up on a segment of the old Sightings show (early 90's). I know because I watched it, and have it on VHS somewhere. Some of this footage is from the Sightings show. The researcher speaking about the alien's eye (who's name escapes me), was convinced it's real. Then they bring in the director/producer of the film, and if I remember right, the director is surprised it got all the attention it did. Then they show some "making of" pictures from the set, with the girls getting into the alien costumes. The researcher is shown all this stuff and told the footage is not real, and man, he was embarrassed. Yet he maintained that some of the video must have been based on fact, and then says parts of it might still be real. I felt bad for the guy, but come on...
Not that wikipedia can always be trusted, but this jives with what I remember: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_McPherson_Tape

Hey Mojo,
Man, if there´s indeed an original tape, I firmly believe you wont find it anywhere.
If it wasn´t destroyed, it´s probably locked in an alphabet agency´s top-secret storehouse somewhere.

agreed Raf...it seems like great lengths were made to cover-up the original story.
edit: My friend Jimmer uncovered more info but it is confusing to me. The story starts to get muddier...

Are you saying the original 1989 film by Dean Alioto was based on a true story and there is footage of the actual encounter? I don't understand.
PS. My mistake about Sightings. Dean Alioto says it was on Encounters. Encounters was a Sightings copy-cat, sometimes even covering the same ground, so it's easy to confuse them without an episode guide (or the tapes). Either way I have the show on VHS.

Hey, I personally know some of the actors who did this video through working with them on other projects. I'm very sorry to confirm that this is not real and has been a hoax from the very beginning.

It's still very confusing the fake video that I know of starts out saying it's a 'Thanksgiving dinner party' but in the original it starts out as a 'birthday party.' And the actors in the second video that you mention Kristin are they the samd actors in the original non-Thanksgiving party? They dont appear to look the same.

The guy's who are outside and checking the breaker box are the ones that I know personally. They are actor's in Vancouver, BC Canada. When I saw the video, I stopped when I saw them as I already knew it was a hoax at that point. Aaron, who plays the tall blond guy usually can only find parts as a cop. He has had cameo's in many well known series, even Fringe. Really nice guy. Do you have links to both? I could easily let you know if I could watch the beginning of each.

Kristin
