Russian physicists developed hollow-cathode lamps, with emit low-intensity radiation. Emission spectrum of such lamps consists of thin lines, typical for atomic and ionic spectra of elements, from which a cathode was made. Researchers found out that radiation from lamps with cathode made of magnesium and copper, stimulated migration of mentioned elements in an organism and cured inflammation.

Kudos to our Russian brothers (and sisters) for their research on behalf of mankind.

I don't know if what I want to tell is appropriate or not but here it goes:
In my country (Colombia) since centuries ago there's a natural and very effective remedy for healing wounds fast. Before industrialization, sugar cane was processed in a different way, after cutting the cane it was pressed in between 2 wheels or rollers, a very sweet liquid comes out of the cane and it's boiled in big containers on the ground and stirred constantly until it reaches the desired consistency and color which is a dark brownish gold color, sometimes they add other ingredients to make it lighter in color and more appealing to buyers.
After it has boiled down for a few hours, they pour the mix onto square molds and let it cool, the final product is called "panela" and it's used for an appetizing hot beverage called agua de panela (water of panela).
Well, when the panela is in it's square shape (a block similar to a brick but a little smaller) you scrape some of it with a knife and you get these soft scrapings that you put on any wound; it's very sweet and with the body's fluids present in the wound it melts. I admit it doesn't seem high end medicine but wounds are healed in record time.
This is the natural remedy Colombian guerrillas and even the army use for healing soldiers wounded in war when they are in the jungle with no hospitals or doctors around.
When I was a child I used it several times for almost everything and I even used it years later for my friend who had an appendectomy and he wasn't healing well, his wound was infected and completely open so I put some panela on it and in 2 days it was cured and completely closed, his doctor couldn't believe it, he wanted him to have antibiotics for weeks.
By the way, the liquid that comes out from the sugar cane when pressed is the base for sugar, they boil it down and put so many chemicals on it to make it white, that those chemicals are the culprits for sugar being so harmful to our bodies, that's why the darker the sugar the better and healthier.
So once again, no technology required, just natural and cheap stuff that works better and it's been used for centuries.
Now, I don't dismissed the new discoveries and technologies because there's always many ways to do everything but if we just looked back and use what it's at hand...

Cloud9 that is very interesting, thank you.
When I was on a clinical placement as an OT student back in 1982, there was a Physiotherapist that was treating deep pressure sores by dripping Honey into them, then using a small beam of blue light {UV?} she said created ozone. She reckoned this helped heal the sores better than anything else- said the sugar was turned to alcohol by bacteria so killing infection?
