If he is impeached, it will be after he's left office like G Bush was in 2008 (from memory).
To impeach, in the formal legal definition, is to charge a public official with improper conduct in office before a proper tribunal. One cannot impeach a private citizen or a former public official.
George Bush was never impeached, and, if my understanding is correct, no US public official has ever been impeached after leaving office, by definition of the word "impeached".

The word comes from the French 'empêcher', which means 'to prevent'. The idea is to prevent further damage being done in office by removing someone from that office. So you've got to be right Paul.

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann had tough words for Obama, even going so far as to suggest impeachment should be on the table.
She told Rusty Humphries in a conference call sponsored by TeaParty.net on Tuesday that “we can have an impeachment hearing in the house” because Obama “has committed impeachable offenses.”
I think that is no more against democrats vs republicans but an agenda that America people is not signing off, perhaps the way out is an impeachment. It has done before in Brazil, it can be done in America as well. It will probably save the day.
The way out is to impeach the government as a whole. We don't need leaders! WE DO NOT NEED LEADERS!

sadly we do need leaders, humans always set a power over themselves , as to not take any self responsiblity for their thoughts and actions ... look at it, a city council , a mayor, a governor, a senator , a congressman, from every state , then a senate, a congress, the white house , the joint chiefs, the pentegon, white house chief of staff , the TSA , DHS, CIA NSA, ATF , FBI , ONI , all positions to take the heat so we don't have to be responsible for anything , we can blame them ... We could just let the governor run his state, and the mayors run the cities , and dissolve the rest and let the local sheriffs keep the peace , sure would save some money ...I guess if we had a neighborhood watch we could do that ourselves ...

I know poor woman. People call her Bat guado Bachman.
After watching her the last 7 years, I believe them. She's a hypocritical farmer bill sucker. Her farms net pork in the hundreds of thousands a year, yet she voted NO to help other farmers effected by the heavy flooding and took the Food Stamp contract out the farm bill to subject us to "unlabled foods."' She's the nwo's favorite because she's divisive, ideological and off the chain mad with career politician power.

As long as we keep believing this lie, we will never see a lasting improvement. God warned against having leaders, Jesus stated that governments had no legitimacy, yet we keep handing over our sovereignty to lunatics. It has been happening over and over again for thousands of years.

I don't think they can shut them down, they can only withdraw any "jurisdiction" they created, or it may be a "state" they have superimposed over the existing state... And private citizens can and should pick their own elected officials... the Federal government is a corporation "superimposed" over the real republic, I know it's more complicated then that, but still their jurisdiction is over a corporation that they created... bloody lawyers should wake up and educate people how to get out of it... there is a book called "invisible contracts" by Mercier, it is a must read for everyone... it's all statutory commercial contract law, contracts can be revoked, signatures can be rescissioned, it's endless... it's wading into their cesspool, but the lawyers should do it... they will suffer too

The shutdown doesn't seem to be slowing down the long term agenda.
Government Shutdown Doesn’t Slow Negotiations On The Trans-Pacific Partnership
As the federal government shutdown continues, Secretary of State John Kerry heads to Asia for secret talks on a sweeping new trade deal, the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
The TPP is often referred to by critics as “NAFTA on steroids,” and would establish a free trade zone that would stretch from Vietnam to Chile, encompassing 800 million people and nearly 40 percent of the global economy. While the text of the treaty has been largely negotiated behind closed doors and, until June, kept secret from Congress, more than 600 corporate advisers reportedly have access to the measure, including employees of Halliburton and Monsanto.
“This is not mainly about trade,” says Lori Wallach, director of Public Citizen’s Global Trade Watch. “It is a corporate Trojan horse. The agreement has 29 chapters, and only five of them have to do with trade. The other 24 chapters either handcuff our domestic governments, limiting food safety, environmental standards, financial regulation, energy and climate policy, or establishing new powers for corporations.”

There is little doubt that this story is bogus or just wishful thinking. The US was established to be government for the people and by the people but we have politicians in office that have made careers out of it. They understand how the game is played and manipulate the lobbyist and budgets for their personal gain. No institution on the planet needs term limits more than the both houses!
I recently read an outstanding book called An Act of Self Defense by Erne Lewis. It is rated 4 ½ stars on Amazon and is available for $ 2.01 used, $9.93 new and $ 4.99 on Kindle. Mr Lewis leans farther toward the Libertarian side than I do but this work is something every American should read. A brilliant political thriller that does not get into the"Liberals and idiots" or the "Conservatives have their heads up their ...". He just points out that we have been duped.
The only real flaw I see is that he professes that this is happening 10 years in the future, I think that he miscalculated by about 7 years. Below is a clip from Amazon.
I hope you will enjoy. Please realize that when it comes in you will loose a day from your life. I read it from start to finish in a day except for the last few pages which I restrained myself and read over a few days savoring it like a good Scotch or glass of wine.
Be Well
1 Flew Over
It is ten years into the future and the nation’s government is nearing financial and moral collapse. A small group (the TLR) believes deadly force is necessary to save individual liberty from the two-party political aristocracy that is Congress. They believe the imminent economic collapse will be an excuse for the dictatorial powers soon to be claimed by the federal government. They accuse Congress of having “increased your powers far beyond their constitutional limits. You have systematically destroyed our natural right to own ourselves and make our own choices. You have become an aristocracy that steals our production and controls us as if we are your serfs.” They announce to the nation, “Ours is the only form of revolution now possible, but it has this advantage. If lives must be taken, only ours or those that have stolen our lives will be required to forfeit theirs.” They give Congress three days . . . to approve their proposed Term Limits Amendment to the Constitution, one that prevents professional politicians from serving in Congress, or, unless they first resign, the long term incumbents “will be term-limited in the only way they leave us.” The Department of Justice targets term limits supporters and libertarians in its hunt for the terrorist group. But when the first senator is “term-limited” in spite of all that federal authorities can do to stop it, it is clear the terrorists will not be easily found. They are inside the federal law enforcement agencies that are hunting them. This novel examines a critical issue for our liberty. If our right to own ourselves and make our own choices—our liberties—are diminishing with every year, how do we ever regain them? Is deadly force justified? even in self-defense? Will it be too late?

I was speaking "off the cuff" as I didn't have time that day to fully research everything in this thread. However, Congressman Dennis Kucinich, read at length 35 articles of impeachment in June 2008 to the U.S. House of Representatives. No impeachment ever took place and Bush left office In January 2009. So I was incorrect saying Bush was impeached "after" he left office.
My point was that things like Courts and Jails are only for the citizens, while the elite will always find ways to "get away" with their "crimes."

Obama Signs Dictatorial Executive Order Imposing Debunked Climate Change Policies
Another arrogant violation of Article I Section I of the Constitution
November 2, 2013
The Obama administration on Friday once again disrespected the Constitution by signing an executive order that circumvents Congress and the American people.
The latest move defiantly ignores a decision by Congress in 2009 to not establish a cap-and-trade system that would have supposedly discouraged greenhouse-gas emissions. The Waxman-Markey bill passed the House but was defeated in the Senate. At the time, Democrats controlled both houses of Congress.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YNgfR9-e2s
The latest unconstitutional EO establishes a task force of state and local officials “to advise the administration on how to respond to severe storms, wildfires, droughts and other potential impacts of climate change.” according to Fox News.
The EO lumps extreme weather events under the discredited rubric of climate change. It will mandate new federal building codes under Agenda 21′s “sustainability” and promises to “address climate impacts and infrastructure needs.” The order was praised by the EPA and its administrator, Gina McCarthy, who said it serves as a “roadmap for agency work” and forces the nation to face what it deems are “climate-related challenges.”
The EO will withhold money expropriated by the federal government from the states if they do not sign on to the latest climate scam proposals. It will “bring sweeping new changes to land use and resource policies,” “refocus of climate change data and use of it to push a new agenda into every priority of the federal government,” and, importantly, make policies immune to challenge by establishing “a new internal organization for coordination efforts during a government sequestration and possible future shutdowns.”
A study released last year debunked Al Gore’s “hockey stick” graph on warming and states that the statistical outcomes on climate change produced by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and associated organizations are “quite wrong.”
Data compiled by NASA’s Langley Research Center earlier this year, writes Ethan A. Huff for Natural News, reveals that “all those atmospheric greenhouse gases that Al Gore and all the other global warming hoaxers have long claimed are overheating and destroying our planet are actually cooling it.”
Article I Section I of the Constitution unambiguously states that Congress, not the executive, has legislative power. An executive order is not lawful legislation.
“An Executive Order is a policy or procedure issued by the President that is a regulation that applies only to employees of the Executive Branch of government,” notes the Tenth Amendment Center. “When a President issues an unconstitutional Executive Order and Congress allows the order to stand they are violating their oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution.”

The chief individual in this agenda is director of the Aspen Institute, Canadian multi-millionaire Maurice Strong. Strong is being heralded as the “indispensable man” at the center of the U.N.’s global power. He has served as director of the World Future Society, trustee of the Rockefeller Foundation and Aspen Institute, and is a member of the Club of Rome.
Strong is now:
• Senior Advisor to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan
• Senior Advisor to World Bank President James Wolfensohn
• Chairman of the Earth Council
• Chairman of the World Resources Institute
• Co-Chairman of the Council of the World Economic Forum
• member of Toyota’s International Advisory Board

“It is clear that current lifestyles and consumption patterns of the affluent middle class—involving high meat intake, consumption of large amounts of frozen and convenience foods, use of fossil fuels, appliances, home and work-place air-conditioning, and suburban housing—are not sustainable. A shift is necessary towards lifestyles less geared to environmentally damaging consumption patterns.”
Maurice Strong (1992 Rio Earth Summit 11).
"After all, sustainability means running the global environment - Earth Inc. - like a corporation: with depreciation, amortization and maintenance accounts. In other words, keeping the asset whole, rather than undermining your natural capital."
* Maurice Strong
After the Earth Summit, Strong continued to take a leading role in implementing the results of agreements at the Earth Summit through establishment of the Earth Council, the Earth Charter movement, his chairmanship of the World Resources Institute, membership on the board of the International Institute for Sustainable Development, the Stockholm Environment Institute, The Africa-America Institute, the Institute of Ecology in Indonesia, the Beijer Institute of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, and others. Strong was a longtime Foundation Director of the World Economic Forum, a senior advisor to the president of the World Bank, a member of the International Advisory of Toyota Motor Corporation, the Advisory Council for the Center for International Development of Harvard University, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, the World Conservation Union (IUCN), the World Wildlife Fund, Resources for the Future, and the Eisenhower Fellowships. His public service activities were carried out on a pro bono basis made possible by his business activities, which included chairman of the International Advisory Group of CH2M Hill, Strovest Holdings, Technology Development Inc., Zenon Environmental, and most recently, Cosmos International, and the China Carbon Corporation.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maurice_Strong#Earth_Summit
Among the hats he currently wears are: Senior Advisor to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan; Senior Advisor to World Bank President James Wolfensohn; Chairman of the Earth Council; Chairman of the World Resources Institute; Co-Chairman of the Council of the World Economic Forum; member of Toyota's International Advisory Board. As advisor to Kofi Annan, he is overseeing the new UN reforms.

The Fed's contract is not up ... no renewal necessary. The stories I've seen claiming that the Fed had an expiring contract confused me. Perhaps it did once, but got it changed to an eternal contract.
Aha - I finally have a source for this claim of mine that the Federal Reserve's charter is "eternal":
hW1oWvyHbik
Bill Still explains how the THE McFADDEN NATIONAL BANK ACT of 1927 ammended the Federal Reserve charter (originally granted in 1913) from requiring renewal every 20 years, to instead to continue until dissolved by Congress. From the book BRANCH BANKING IN THE UNITED STATES, by SHIRLEY DONALD SOUTHWORTH, Ph.D. , 1928 (http://archive.org/stream/branchbankingint013222mbp/branchbankingint013222mbp_djvu.txt):
Senate. Banking and Currency Committee. Perpetual charters for
national banks, hearing before subcommittee on S. 3255, to amend
Sec. 5136, Revised statutes, relating to corporate powers of associations,
so as to provide succession thereof until dissolved, and to apply said
section as so amended to all national banking associations.
and further down:
FEDERAL, RESERVE BANKS CHARTERED FOR INDETERMINATE PERIOD
Sec. 18. That the second subdivision of the fourth paragraph of Section
4 of the Federal Reserve Act be amended to read as follows :
" Second. To have succession after the approval of this Act until dis-
solved by Act of Congress or until forfeiture of franchise for violation of
law."
and yet further down:
1 IUd., p. 1547. "Sec. 20. That the second subdivision of the fourth
paragraph of Section 4 of the Federal Reserve Act be amended to read as
follows :
'Second. To have succession after the approval of this Act until dis-
solved by Act of Congress or until forfeiture of franchise for violation of
law/ "

RT pulled the ultimate move, where all the main news outlets are available on cable to those who can afford to watch for $100/month
the Kremlin decided to make Russia Today available to the little guy and make it free...
no need to pay money for mind control channels for the sheeple

I wouldn't doubt the huge blow up at media outlets in London was directed mainly at RT for spilling too much truth...

I agree Rocky I post a lot of RT reports and am aware that they have been very
clever filling a niche between the alternative Alex Jones, David Ice sphere
and the corporate mainstream. They have a good balance of intelligent
male ,female news readers and reporter/Journalists and report on all the
events the mainstream owners tell there outlets to ignore.
A few like the Mail & Guardian seem to be joining more and reporting
events like Bilderberg. Channell 4 news has been good on certain events.
The BBC are better than you would think but a lot is buried in the web
site and you have to look for it, and less is actually reported on the TV
news itself though some of the radio shows go into detail on some subjects.
I do post from other outlets around the world but these are more sporadic.
But we still must try and balance whatever news reports or articles we read/post
imo.

RT at the moment have good news crews & reporters around the world
how long they are able to stay that way, time will tell. It obviously makes
the Kremlin happy to be able to see Russia play its part in the

The test will be if there is a major crackdown on democracy in Russia

Although RT is a propoganda arm of the kremlin, it still puts out better "news" than the MSM. On a sidenote, glad to see Mr. Seagal stepping up and saying something about all this. He's actually one of the better martial arts stars out there; he's got a dojo in Japan where he teaches Aikido (something westerners rarely do to the Japanese, who invented the art). He's the real deal; someone I would definatly *not* want to put me in a joint-lock. :p

Steven Seagal walked right by me in the lobby of the Peabody Hotel in Memphis about 5 years ago. The thing that struck me was that he was huge. The friend I was with is not a small man, around 6 foot and 220 pounds. Seagal absolutely dwarfed my friend. Seagal looked very fit. I might would have taken a picture, but Seagal had 2 equally huge bodyguards with him. So I just gawked at him. As to the interveiw. I am not surprised at all.

He does seem to possess integrity, virtue, compassion. A follower of the narrow way. Alas this forum seems to be diluted more often than not, so it would matter little if he were on the forum, it would quickly become a cult of personality thing happening(it's easy to look for a leader or savior) I could only imagine how that might turn out. Look at the Charles era. Those who speak the truth clearly without the babble aren't nearly as entertaining or distracting, I doubt he would suffer fools easily. Bill said there are several celebrities on Project Avalon currently, if I remember correctly.
But not using familiar names.
That is one way to avoid a cult following.
Another way is to look to one's own intuition as primary guidance. If a leader, savior or guru shows up, so be it. Many can handle that without giving away their personal power. For those who would give their power away, maybe that would be another learning experience one signed up to overcome. Possibly taking lifetimes to overcome.

Mr. Seagal is a buddist , hmmm no wonder he is all about life and good vs evil , and doing what he can for the good of humanity ... I like how he sees right thru the mass shootings and bombings calling them basically false flags ... kudos about schools , we have armed guards on money , jewelry , malls , private country clubs , but the most important thing our CHILDREN have no armed guards ... so money is more important than kids ???

Yes Putin is no saint.. he's a criminal in his own right and pulled more than a couple of false flag terrorism attacks for political gain..... they are more than capable of extreme brutality and violence.... but the big difference with him, and in my opinion is one of the main points Seagal makes, is that Putin actually cares about Russia, and does things for its benefit.... whereas Obama clearly hates America and everything it stands for.
I like him too, always did, but his movies became a little too redundant around 10 years and 50 pounds ago....

Suit Filed Before ICC Against Obama and Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood for Crimes Against Humanity
November 11, 2013 • 10:02AM
According to Human Events and Examiner.com (http://www.examiner.com/article/egyptian-lawyers-accuse-obama-of-crimes-against-humanity), President Obama has been accused of crimes against humanity in a complaint submitted to the International Criminal Court in the Hague by a group of Egyptian lawyers. As reported in the Egyptian newspaper El Watan, the complaint charges Obama of being an accessory to the Muslim Brotherhood, which incited widespread violence in Egypt both before and after the June 30 Revolution.
Along with Obama, the complaint names several Brotherhood members by name, including the leader of the organization Muhammad Badie, and other top ranking leaders such as Mohamed al-Beltagy, Essam al-Erian, and Safwat Hegazi, adding that “Obama cooperated, incited, and assisted the armed elements of the Muslim Brotherhood in the commission of crimes against humanity in the period from 3/7/2013-8/18/2013, in the Arab Republic of Egypt.”
According to the published text, the complaint begins by quoting Article 7/1 of the Statute of the International Criminal Court, titled “Crimes against humanity,” which is reproduced below:
Article 7
Crimes against humanity
1. For the purpose of this Statute, crime against humanity means any of the following acts when committed as part of a widespread or systematic attack directed against any civilian population, with knowledge of the attack:
(a) Murder;
(b) Extermination;
(c) Enslavement;
(d) Deportation or forcible transfer of population;
(e) Imprisonment or other severe deprivation of physical liberty in violation of fundamental rules of international law;
(f) Torture;
(g) Rape, sexual slavery, enforced prostitution, forced pregnancy, enforced sterilization, or any other form of sexual violence of comparable gravity;
(h) Persecution against any identifiable group or collectivity on political, racial, national, ethnic, cultural, religious, gender as defined in paragraph 3, or other grounds that are universally recognized as impermissible under international law, in connection with any act referred to in this paragraph or any crime within the jurisdiction of the Court;
(i) Enforced disappearance of persons;
(j) The crime of apartheid;
(k) Other inhumane acts of a similar character intentionally causing great suffering, or serious injury to body or to mental or physical health

It states in the article that the Egyptian lawyers filed a "complaint". Is that different than a lawsuit?
GlassSteagallfan
12th November 2013, 19:39
Good question Sid! The article only uses the word 'suit' and then 'complaint'.
A quick look through an online legal dictonary shows the following:
complaint
n. the first document filed with the court (actually with the County Clerk or Clerk of the Court) by a person or entity claiming legal rights against another. The party filing the complaint is usually called the plaintiff and the party against whom the complaint is filed is called the defendant or defendants. Complaints are pleadings and must be drafted carefully (usually by an attorney) to properly state the factual as well as legal basis for the claim, although some states have approved complaint forms which can be filled in by an individual. A complaint also must follow statutory requirements as to form. For example, a complaint must be typed on a specific type of paper or on forms approved by the courts, name both the party making the claim and all defendants, and should state what damages or performance is demanded (the prayer). When the complaint is filed, the court clerk will issue a summons, which gives the name and file number of the lawsuit and the address of the attorney filing the complaint, and instructs the defendant that he/she/it has a specific time to file an answer or other response. A copy of the complaint and the summons must be served on a defendant before a response is required. Under a unique statute, New York allows a summons to be served without a complaint. A complaint filing must be accompanied by a filing fee payable to the court clerk, unless a waiver based on poverty is obtained.
suit
n. generic term for any filing of a complaint (or petition) asking for legal redress by judicial action, often called a "lawsuit." In common parlance a suit asking for a court order for action rather than a money judgment is often called a "petition," but technically it is a "suit in equity."
lawsuit
n. a common term for a legal action by one person or entity against another person or entity, to be decided in a court of law, sometimes just called a "suit." The legal claims within a lawsuit are called "causes of action."

It has been attempted. In February 2007, former MI6 whistleblower David Shayler appeared in Ireland with Annie Machon and William Rodriguez who unsuccessfully sued President Bush and 155 others in federal court alleging their complicity in the 9/11 attacks. I must admit this is only something I heard recently and not at the time, so not much publicity was given to it.
Let us hope that David Icke's new TV channel will address some of these issues and get it all out there. Trouble is he will be preaching to the converted unless his channel goes mainstream.

In the movie Machete with Steven Seagal the last line Machete speaks, and this is the whole point of the movie I think, he gets offered an US ID card 'now you are a real PERSON' and this is where he says something quite odd actually, 'I don't need to be a PERSON I am already a Man' think about that one in legal US terminology, very interesting imo, the movie as such is a corny piece of crap but the whole leading cast of the movie is made up out of some pretty much awake people who knew exactly what they were doing, is a name on the US ID spelled out all caps? If so, go figure:rolleyes:. Interesting message.

Have we reach a turning point with Barack Obama? Here are three excerpts which, taken together, indicate that we may have:
Obama’s Big Lie is destroying his credibility
Michael Goodwin, New York Post, November 13, 2013
When I first saw the headline saying Bill Clinton was advising President Obama to “honor his commitment,” I had to laugh. The idea of Monica Lewinsky’s boyfriend as moral referee always cracks me up.
Then I got to wondering. Which commitment was Clinton talking about?
Is it the one Obama made to the Israeli people, that he had their backs and would never let Iran get a nuclear weapon? Or was it his promise to enforce a “red line” in Syria?
Or maybe it was Obama’s promise to “never rest” until we caught the terrorists who killed our ambassador and three other Americans in Libya?
Or was Clinton talking about the many times the president said he would “never rest” until every American who wanted a job had one?
Or maybe he was talking about the pledge to change the tone in Washington? Or to go through the budget “line by line” and cross out the waste driving up the deficit?
You get the picture — any of those whoppers would qualify. But, of course, Clinton was talking about the broken promise of the moment, the one where Obama vowed that “if you like your health insurance, you can keep it.”

Obama Ex Secret Service Agent Dan Bongino “It’s Worse Than People Know”
Mac Slavo, shftplan.com, November 5, 2013
You may have your suspicions about what’s going on behind closed doors at the White House.
But according to one of President Obama’s former body guards it’s much worse than we can even imagine.
Dan Bongino has protected numerous Presidents over his career, including President Obama. He has been within ear-shot of many a discussion in the Oval Office, but up until this administration has stayed out of the lime light. Apparently, however, the activities of this administration are so abhorrent that he could no longer keep quiet.
Bongino is so upset with what he witnessed that he is now running for Congress because he feels it’s the only way to take America back from the sycophants who have made every effort to enrich themselves with money and power at the expense of the American people.
How bad is it?
"We’re in a lot of trouble.
"The President sees government – and I think it’s because of his lack of experience and maybe community organizing in the past – as this shiny new toy.
"For all the disagreements I had with Clinton, Carter and Bush there were always limits… there was that line you just didn’t cross… We cross it seemingly every day. We’re lost in the scandals…
"The Jamie Dimon shakedown at Chase… the HHS scandal.. Kathleen Sebelius shaking down the health care industry for money… the IRS… it’s to the point where these scandals in and of themselves would be huge back-breaking scandals are just lost in the scandal fog of this administration…
"[B]It’s worse than people know… and I’m not trying to scare you either."

Obamacare Will Be Repealed Well In Advance Of The 2014 Elections
Steven Hayward; Contributor, Forbes, November 11, 2013
Prediction: even if HealthCare.gov is fixed by the end of the month (unlikely), Obamacare is going to be repealed well in advance of next year’s election. And if the website continues to fail, the push for repeal—from endangered Democrats—will occur very rapidly. The website is a sideshow: the real action is the number of people and businesses who are losing their health plans or having to pay a lot more. Fixing the website will only delay the inevitable.
It is important to remember why it was so important for Obama to promise repeatedly that “if you like your health insurance/doctor, you can keep your health insurance/doctor.” Cast your mind back to the ignominious collapse of Hillarycare in 1994. Hillarycare came out of the box in September 1993 to high public support according to the early polls. This was not a surprise. Opinion polls for decades have shown a large majority of Americans support the general idea of universal health coverage. But Hillarycare came apart as the bureaucratic details came out, the most important one being that you couldn’t be sure you’d be able to keep your doctors or select specialists of your choice. The Clintons refused to consider a compromise, but even with large Democratic Senate and House majorities the bill was so dead it was never brought up for a vote.
...
Senate Democrats endangered for re-election will lead the charge for repeal perhaps as soon as January, after they get an earful over the Christmas break. They’ll call it “reform,” and clothe it in calls for delaying the individual mandate and allowing people and businesses to keep their existing health insurance policies. But it is probably too late to go back in many cases. With the political damage guaranteed to continue, the momentum toward repeal will be unstoppable. Democrats will not want to face the voters next November with the albatross of Obamacare.

I do not wish bad karma on anyone, and that includes Barack Obama and the global control crowd behind him. Eventually though, the arrogance of power goes too far and some event or events occur that have the potential to unravel their agenda.
Obamacare was never about health, but about control of the masses. If it is repealed, it could be the beginning of change for the better; not all at once, but in time.

Rand Paul Reveals BARACK OBAMA WROTE THE REGULATION TO CANCEL YOUR INSURANCE AFTER OBAMACARE PASSED!
According to Senator Rand Paul, who spoke at a luncheon in Charleston, South Carolina on Monday, November 11, the President of the United States himself wrote the regulation to cancel the health insurance of MILLIONS of Americans…3 months after Obamacare was passed!
Rand Paul on Obamacare :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22qAbmL0yDw
“I’m still learning about it. It’s 20,000 pages of regulations. The Bill was 2,000 pages and [B]I didn’t realize this until this week, the whole idea of you losing or getting your insurance cancelled wasn’t in the original Obamacare. It was a regulation WRITTEN BY PRESIDENT OBAMA, three months later. So we had a vote, this is before I got up there. The Republicans had a vote to try to cancel that regulation so you COULDN’T BE CANCELLED, to grandfather everybody in. You know what the vote was? Straight party line. EVERY DEMOCRAT VOTED TO KEEP THE RULE THAT CANCELS YOUR INSURANCE.”
As the now 20,000+ Obamacare pages come home to roost, remind those who have continued to support the Liar-in-Chief, regardless of his crimes, of this simple fact: The man who sits in the Oval Office (when he’s not on a golf course), and the Party to which they have pledged their unquestioning allegiance, has now wholly betrayed them. And their children.

And it came to pass in the Age of Insanity that the people of the land called America, having lost their morals , their initiative , and their Will to defend their liberties, chose as their Supreme Leader that Person known as "The One."
He emerged from the vapors with a message that had no meaning; but He Hypnotized the people telling them , "I am sent to save you.
"
My lack of experience , my questionable ethics , my monstrous ego , and my Association with evil doers are of no consequence. I shall save you with Hope and Change.
Go , therefore , and proclaim throughout the Land that he who preceded me is evil , that he has defiled the nation , and that all he has built must be destroyed.
And the people rejoiced , For even though they knew not what "The One" would do , he had promised that it was good; and they believed.
And "The One" said " We live in The greatest country in the world. Help me change everything about it!"
And the people said , "Hallelujah! Change is good!"
Then He said , "We are going to tax the rich fat-cats."
And the People said "Sock it to them!"
"And redistribute their wealth."
And the people said , "Show us the money!"
And the he said , "Redistribution of wealth is good for everybody.."
And Joe the plumber asked , "Are you kidding me? You're going to Steal my money and give it to the deadbeats??"
And "The One" ridiculed and taunted him, and Joe's personal records were hacked and publicized.
One lone reporter asked , "Isn't that Marxist policy?"
And she was banished from the kingdom.
Then a citizen asked , "With no foreign relations experience and having zero military experience or knowledge , how will you deal with Radical terrorists?"
And "The One" said , "Simple. I shall sit with them and talk with them and show them how nice we really are; and they will forget that they ever wanted to kill us all!"
And the people said , "Hallelujah!! We are safe at last , and we can beat our weapons Into free cars for the people!"
Then "The One" said "I shall give 95% of you lower taxes."
And one , Lone voice said , "But 40% of us don't pay ANY taxes.
"
So "The One" Said , "Then I shall give you some of the taxes the fat-cats
pay!"
And the people said , "Hallelujah! Show us the money!"
Then "The One" said , "I shall tax your Capital Gains when you sell your homes!"
And the people yawned and the slumping housing market collapsed.
And He said. "I shall mandate employer-funded health care for every worker and raise the minimum wage. And I shall give every Person unlimited healthcare and medicine and transportation to the Clinics."
...
Oh, except for Muslims for Muslims shall not pay their share of healthcare.
And the people said , "Give me some of that!"
Then he said , "I shall penalize employers who ship jobs overseas."
And the people said , "Where's my rebate check?"
Then "The One" said , "I shall bankrupt the coal industry and electricity rates will skyrocket!"
And the people said , "Coal is dirty , coal is evil , no more coal! But we don't care for that part about higher electric rates.
So "The One" said , Not to worry. If Your rebate isn't enough to cover your expenses , we shall bail you out.
Just sign up with the ACORN and you troubles are over!"
Then He said , "Illegal immigrants feel scorned and slighted. Let's grant them amnesty , Social Security , free education , free lunches , Free medical care , bilingual signs and guaranteed housing...
"
And the people said , "Hallelujah!" and they made him king!
And so it came to pass that employers , facing spiraling costs and ever-higher taxes , raised their prices and laid off workers. Others simply gave up and went out of business and the economy sank like unto a rock dropped from a cliff.
The banking industry was destroyed. Manufacturing slowed to a crawl and more of the people were without a means of support.
Then "The One" said , "I am the "the One"- The Messiah and I'm here To save you!
We shall just print more money so everyone will have enough!"
But our foreign trading partners said unto Him. "Wait a Minute. Your dollar is not worth a pile of camel dung! You will have to pay more...
And "The One" said , "Wait a minute. That is unfair!!"
And the world said , "Neither are these other idiotic programs you have embraced.
Lo , you have become a Socialist state and a second-rate power. Now you shall play by our rules!"
And the people cried out , "Alas , alas!! What have we done?"
And the change agent's name was changed to dung. And the once mighty nation was no more; and the once proud people were without sustenance or shelter or hope.
And the Change "The One" had given them was as like unto a poison that had destroyed them and like a whirlwind that consumed all that they had built.
And the people beat their chests in despair and cried out in anguish , "Give us back our nation and our pride and our hope!!" But it was too late , and their homeland was no more.

A funny thing is a forum. The proximity of a prediction to a donation link can cause dozens of postings and thousands of views -- even causing the thread to be closed:

But when the prediction comes true, little interest. Go figure. However, the true importance of Miriam's prediction is what follows. Will the consequence of Obama's lies lead to change for the better ("...help to restore balance in this world.")?

The MSM announced today how Americans will be glad if Ms Yellen keeps QE 3 and 4 going so the Stock Market stays intact. Scaring the average viewer to accept her 'bandaid'. Yet MSM are hiding the real truth under a layer of fear we all have of a sudden collapse. Because of course none of us want a sudden crash of the Stock Market. But they are failing to mention how very bad QE is in the long term. Most viewers of MSM dont understand that each month 85 billion is literally given to the bankers and tptb are buying up all that real estate bonds at bargain prices. The bankers own the Federal Reserve or are at least working along side those interests. Equally important our currency is losing even more value with each month QE persists, like sucking us dry before the final killshot. Jim Willie claims that QE is hyper inflation (as our currency is watered down each month) in the midst of deflation with the artificially low interest rates. It's quite unpleasant but our currency will need a correction eventually. I think we are living beyond our means in part because of all the wars. But anyway it was interesting how they sell her to the public playing the fear card of ending QE. It would be more ethical to come clean with the truth and help build emotional strength to accept our predicament, and move forward. Of course the MSM isn't doing that at this time.

Students suffer ObamaCare sticker shock as premiums soar, plans get cut
While millions of Americans are watching their individual polices get canceled due to ObamaCare regulations, the new health care rules are also having a major impact on college campuses.
For decades, universities and colleges have offered students bare-bones policies. But because of the Affordable Care Act, those policies no longer cut it – and universities are forced to decide whether to offer significantly higher-cost plans or cancel coverage altogether.
The new rules affect a broad swath of American schools, especially the small ones.
At Bowie State University in Maryland, the cost of student health insurance policies went from roughly $100 a year to $1,800 a year.
The cancelled plan offered $5,000 worth of medical coverage to students for just $54 per semester. University administrators said an acceptable replacement under the Affordable Care Act would have cost $900 per semester, a 1,500 percent increase.
Students who need individual coverage are likely to find a better deal for themselves on the Maryland Health Connection insurance exchange, University spokeswoman Cassandra Robinson said.
In the end, the school decided to drop the policy for all of its 5,500 enrollees. Students were notified of the dropped coverage on the school’s website.
"Bowie State University has suspended offering health insurance for domestic students for the 2013-2014 academic year," according to the school's official website. "Due to new requirements of the Affordable Care Act which will go into effect on January 1, 2014, the cost of insurance for domestic students will increase to approximately $1800 per year."
The sticker shock didn’t sit well with some students who spoke out against the price hike.
“You’ve haven’t done anything Obama and I am disappointed in you,” one student said. Another told Campus Reform, “We don’t have that money. We can barely afford books.”
The frustration has been felt across the country as colleges and universities have to decide whether to cut coverage or offer sky-high plans that in some cases triple the cost of premiums.
In New Jersey, students who enrolled in this past semester were the first class that had to shoulder the higher premium costs. Many community colleges in Bergen and Passaic counties were forced to cut student coverage altogether.
In Cranford, N.J., Stephen Nacco, the Union County Community College Vice President of Administrative Services, says the cost of health insurance is now “more than a thousand dollars per students and that it is dramatically different” than what it had been in the past.
Students were paying so little before because the coverage they received was so scant. The costs have gone up because under ObamaCare, plans must offer coverage for services like annual checkups and alcohol abuse treatments. Because they offer a wider range of services, the premiums also increase.
According to the New Jersey Association of State Colleges and Universities, students at nine schools in the state saw the cost of their policies triple, Paul Shelly, a spokesman for the organization told North Jersey.com.
It’s been a similar story across most of the country.
According to a 2008 study by the Government Accountability Office, about 6,000 students or about 7 percent of the total number of 18-to-23-year-olds in college, bought their own insurance, usually through plans arranged with the school.
The same study found that 60 percent of schools’ plans had coverage of $50,000 or less for specific conditions, and almost all the rest had some sort of payout caps that they will have to do away with by 2014.
In the past, students at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan., were offered a one-year plan that cost students $445, with payouts capping at $10,000. For the 2012-2013 academic year, the payout cap was increased to $100,000 per the new health care overhaul, which meant students at Bethany would have to shell out more than $2,000 for coverage. It apparently was too much in the end.
Bob Schmoll, Bethany’s vice president for finance, told The Wall Street Journal, the school “decided not to offer coverage for our students next year” given the proposed increase in premium. Schmoll says the school could have kept the limited-coverage plan but that it would have financially not been feasible.
Administrators at Lenoir-Rhyne University in North Carolina, Cornell College in Iowa and the University of Puget Sound in Washington also told students they would be dropping school-sponsored coverage. The three schools say student premiums would have gone up 10-fold.

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul has issued an impassioned video address, slamming the surveillance state and demanding that freedom be restored.
“We were once outraged and dismayed and spurred to resist when British soldiers came knocking at our door with illegitimate warrants seeking taxes on our papers,” the Senator notes, citing the American Revolution.
“Today, your government responds that there is no expectation of privacy once you consign your records to a third party,” Paul continues.
“Your government argues that the Fourth Amendment applies not at all to your bank records, your Visa bill, your internet searches or purchases or emails. If not resistance, shouldn’t there at least be outrage?” the Senator urges.
qVeAqXUILOQ
Adding that Orwell’s 1984 needn’t even be imagined in order to be alarmed, the Senator continued, “Imagine for a moment what information could be gathered from your Visa bill,” he added, pointing to personal information pertaining to health and even politics.
“Are we so afraid of terrorists that we are willing to give up the very freedoms that separate us from them?” Paul asked.
Citing Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Paul points to pro-surveillance state representatives noting “The surveillance state was made to disappear through the legerdemain of defining it out of existence.”
Comparing this to a scene from The Book of Laughter and Forgetting by Milan Kundera, the Senator states “Kundera captures the heart of the debate: the struggle of man against power is the struggle of memory against forgetting…against allowing the state to define away its usurpations.”
“Will we allow defenders of the surveillance state to airbrush history and define away the notion of spying? Will we sit idly by as our expectation of freedom is defined downward?” Paul asks.
“Will we be sunshine patriots, or will we stand up like free men and women and say, ‘Enough is enough, we want our freedoms back’?” the Senator concludes.
Paul’s call to action comes in the wake of yet more NSA revelations detailing how widespread and expansive the surveillance net has become, extending to UK citizens far beyond the scope of cooperation exercised by the British government.
The Electronic Freedom Foundation has compiled a searchable compendium of the released NSA spying documents, bringing together the flood of information released by newspapers and the government into one resource.
Meanwhile, Senators Ron Wyden, Mark Udall and Martin Heinrich are seeking to file an amicus brief in the EFF’s lawsuit against the NSA, concerning the bulk collection of metadata from all phone calls.
The Senators contend that there is no evidence that the bulk data collection program has been of any use. The filing states:
Now that the government’s bulk call-records program has been exposed, the government has defended it vigorously. Amici submit this brief to respond to the government’s claim, which it is expected to repeat in this suit, that its collection of bulk call records is necessary to defend the nation against terrorist attacks. Amici make one central point: As members of the committee charged with overseeing the National Security Agency’s surveillance, Amici have reviewed this surveillance extensively and have seen no evidence that the bulk collection of Americans’ phone records has provided any intelligence of value that could not have been gathered through less intrusive means. The government has at its disposal a number of authorities that allow it to obtain the call records of suspected terrorists and those in contact with suspected terrorists. It appears to Amici that these more targeted authorities could have been used to obtain the information that the government has publicly claimed was crucial in a few important counterterrorism cases.

Some that have good hearts and best intentions when elected are soon sucked into the system.
Some stand up.
Ron Paul (daddy) should have won the last presidential election if all things were fair on a media basis and electronic fraud basis.
Anyone who doubts that really needs to dig deeper.
... but there we go ... what must we do to collapse the system such that what the people want actually comes to fruition???

I have thought it another 'Coincidence' the cross over on Terrorism.
Before 9/11 it was regional and after it was global. There has always
been unrest in most countries thru history from one group or other
challenging the authority or legitimacy of the governing regime.
In the UK, the most recent was the 'Troubles' in Northern Ireland,
and as complex and bloody as they were, we were constantly told
not to let 'The terrorist' stop our way of life whatever the cost.
This is what happened and although there were weekly bombings
and murders, we kept living daily life as usual on the whole, though
the news constantly reminded us of events.
The IRA eventually started a peace accord in 1994 confirming in 1998 ?
Now they are part of the governing body in Northern Ireland today.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Ireland_peace_process
It seems odd timing that we just finished one era of terrorism to go into
another after 9/11 & 7/7.......
The point being we should not give up our freedom for protection
against 'Dubious Terrorist Groups' ...imo

‘The NSA has taken 9/11 as a necessity to implement a global communications
vacuum cleaner, attempting to hoover up and analyse every single piece of human
electronic communication on the planet, using this data to identify human rights
activists and trying to put in jail anyone who attempts to expose this. President
Bush rolled out the Patriot Act within days of 9/11 which allows the US government
to do just about anything it likes, all in the name of counter terrorism and National
Security.
This has since been followed by President Obama quietly sneaking through the
NDAA (National Defence Authorisation Act) on New Year’s Eve 2011 which allows
him to legally assassinate or imprison for life anyone he wants to without any
evidence required at all, a power that he has already exercised. Add to this also the
fact that we now have hundreds of human-less military drones criss-crossing our
skies killing innocent women and children in their hundreds, with no accountability,
as the US military supposedly tries to nullify individuals who the NSA, through their
communications hoovering activities, have deemed to be potential terrorist
suspects. All of this is justified by our authorities on the back of 9/11 because it is
needed to keep us all safe.’

I really support Rand Paul (and his dad) and what they have to say. That being said, I can still tell that him speaking publicly about his opposition to Obama's policies is a way for him to pave his way for the presidency in 2016. Rand Paul, Jesse Ventura, Ted Cruz, and others are obviously speaking so openly in the public so they can appear as "the good guy" to the public and be nominated in 2016. Same old story.
I do support what each of them has to say, but simply installing somebody with a campaign slogan of "CHANGE" is simply not enough. Look what happened with Obama. He campaigned under the slogan of "change," leading people to false forms of hope, and now look at what happened.
It simply blows my mind that the American public has not woken up to the fact that every single president who has had good intentions when campaigning has not delivered his promises. Hmmmm...I wonder why this would be.
It's because the president is controlled by a parasite that has its grip on humanity. Even if somebody did sincerely have good intentions when entering the presidency and really did want to do good for people (JFK, Eisenhower?), it is obvious that there is some devious manipulation going on. Every four years the people forget that they were duped yet again, are promised with hope of a better future (with different words), and vote yet again for somebody who bases their entire existence on studying politics. This probably has to do with mind control (television, GMOs, water-fluoridation, etc.) This is not the answer.
Americans are kind of like 10-second Tom from the film Fifty First Dates:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRYJzwvT0WA
If we are going to progress as humanity, then we are going to have to overthrow this parasite first. Even if Rand Paul is elected as president in 2016 (whom I think has good intentions), he will be a repeat of Bush and Obama because of the parasite. He will be threatened and humanity will be immersed fully into an Orwellian Police State.
We need to overthrow this parasite and we need to do it now. We also need to get somebody in office who does not want the power, and does not dedicate their life studying how to manipulate people (the definition of politics= manipulation and control). I suggest a Conservation Biologist, personally (they know how the world really works. Also, they tend to have more empathy).

What I am saying is that if we overthrow this parasite, humanity is woken up, and we finally regain the freedom to reform our entire social structure, then we will have to seriously reconsider how we place people in positions of power.
So once all is well, which I sincerely believe we will come out strong as humanity, we can begin to restructure.
When this Illuminati parasite is overthrown, instead of continuing to place political science as the requirement (or norm) for positions of power, let us consider nominating scientists.
Pure scientists (when not corrupted) have a much better image how the universe works. If properly trained, they understand human behavior, universal laws of physics, and conservation issues. Humanity is not separate from the universe as politics so often seems to suggest. Humanity is so intimately tied to the universe, as all organism are. Politics seeks to remove humanity from nature, which is very inaccurate and manipulative.
As Graham Hancock says "The US president should take Ayahuasca at least 10 times before entering office."

Could not agree more.
The system *must* fall across the board to have a chance at something better.
Most in amerika are too comfortable with their ballgames and reality tv to have a clue.
The "fall" will happen soon enough (for better or worse) ... but in the meanwhile I still appreciate those voices who are brave enough to stand up to the system as it is.
Rand Paul saying these things simply to get votes???
Hmmm.
If an honest person somehow gets elected and into the system what would we have them do???
Anyway ... just a couple clips to honor both father and son and appreciate such a rare breed that actually puts it on the line for *YOU and ME ... we the people*.
The system is a joke ... let's laugh at it ... and then bring about something much different.

http://www.wikiarmy.com/index.php/15-breaking-news/63-seal-commander-says-special-operations-assault-on-obama-has-begun
Last week saw US Military Special Forces be raised to the forefront of the political picture. Retired Navy Seal Commander Ryan Zinke stepped up and says that the Special Operations Assault on President Obama has just begun.
As all of you know, there have been many US military brass who have been fired from their posts in the military -- far too many, given that the bulk of them had spotless records. The list of the fired brass is huge, to wit:
http://conservativeangle.com/disturbing-the-complete-list-of-purged-military-high-officers-under-obama/
So, I was hoping that this would FINALLY nudge the US military into taking decisive action against the current regime in Washington. I really hope that this takes the form of aggressive, physical assaults with Special Forces teams swarming into Washington to arrest numerous politicians, lobbyists, etc.
I'm tired of dosing on 'hopium', but, geez, when are the Oath Keepers finally going to take action? Expecting the whole society to take action against the regime is a pipe dream -- no organization has the logistical/military abilities to take the bastards out of Washington like the US military and its Special Forces.
Please visualize the Special Forces swarming into Washington and taking out Obama and all the politicians. The State of the Union speech is a perfect time for that to happen, right? Or sooner.

It may be that these stop-start 'major false flag' rumors that are doing the rounds, are meant to be shake-down cage bashing moves to root out the good people in the military by pushing them to refuse orders, and sacking them.
Each time that happens, the military machine drops another notch into the tyranny socket where it will eventually perform robotically as the spaces are filled with hand picked psychos and or products of the super soldier / super officer programs.
The penny has just dropped, for me, that it's what they are about right now.
I can quite well imagine that they will take something very similar out to the general population once they've got done with the military shake down.
This week, we published a story on a U.S. Army General calling for the resignation of Barack Obama and other administration officials. (http://conservativeangle.com/u-s-army-general-calling-for-the-forced-resignations-of-barack-hussein-obama-and-other-administration-officials/) Now, we have a very disturbing list of military high-ranking officers that have been purged from the Obama administration.

This is the same thing Clinton did with the FBI in his first year. From then on, he had the ability to swoop in and control the spin and the flow of information, and the "investigations" from large events, like Oklahoma City and TWA 800.

Key info here my friend...
[H/T Investment Watch Blog (http://investmentwatchblog.com/list-of-names-military-purge-high-officers-terrifying/)] — Look up the service records of some of these guys. MOST have perfect LONG services, highly decorated.

There are currently 48 4-Star Generals. maybe they were all the brass that were in on the white hat movement... ... someone ratted them out... once again some evil rat b***ard just made a payload of cash somewhere.... just my speculation.... that's just way too many for just refusing to blow off a nuke in South Carolina. Well they had their chance to face make an attempt to clean up the system... and now they're ousted, marked men, labeled as institutional pariahs, outcasts... for trying to stand up to the Rockefeller magical money machine... the puppet master... who in turn is controlled by the Jesuits??? anyway.... welcome to the club...

Something to consider and which is probably why nothing is done:
I find the following very disturbing:
At a meeting in Copenhagen June 10, 1931: Arnold Toynbee, "Director of Studies" at Chatham House, London, said:
"It is just because we are really attacking the principle of local sovereignty that we keep on protesting our loyalty to it so loudly.
The harder we press our attack upon the idol, the more pains we take to keep its priests and devotees in a fool's paradise - lapped in a false sense of security which will inhibit them from taking up arms in their idol's defense....
We are at present working, discreetly with all our might, to wrest this mysterious political force called sovereignty out of the clutches of the local national states of the world. And all the time, we are denying with our lips what we are doing with our hands."
[From: http://henrymakow.com/confessions_of_a_dupe_me.html]
Why disturbing?
Because either no-one lifts a finger and the above goes through unhindered or, else, fingers pull triggers to end up in the hands of bankers with an exorbitant debt...
... dreaming of feathers and soft places...

Sadly Mozart - military coups do not work per se and getting rid of Obama will not save America from her woes. These problems were at least 60 years in the making !!! Change for change sake is no solution at all. It's the ideologies of the masses, the elected officials and those with profit agendas in mind that must change and that will take generations !!!
http://www.wikiarmy.com/index.php/15-breaking-news/63-seal-commander-says-special-operations-assault-on-obama-has-begun
Or sooner.

The retired generals could perhaps stop another "Fukushima" like event.
As to regime change I agree however that any attempt now at revolution will easily end up with inter faction arguing as we are not yet ready, not unified as a nation. I'd like to see one of the retired generals steal a piece of Prime time air space and expose how the media is lying. That is a truism we could all agree on. If more are awake and aware it's got to be beneficial. And it can help move us toward a unifying common theme or themes. The more themes however the more infighting unless they are very basic.

President Obama's uncle said at a deportation hearing Tuesday that Obama stayed with him while he was a student at Harvard Law School in the 1980s -- despite the White House having said that Obama never met the man.

Wonder what his name was then? Seems like most of the events of Barry's / Barack's life have been fuzzed over, wonder why this one? What has the uncle done or said to paint him in an unflattering light I wonder? Well he's still alive, he can thank his nephew for that at least.. N

Sorry jagman, I have to disagree with you. During the Campaign when then Senator Obama was running and the immigration issue was heated, we found out about his relatives in Kenya, because he wrote a book about going there to meet his father's people after college. Really nothing strange about that because when I got out of college, I made the trek down to VA because of a nasty divorce between my parents, and i'd never seen them or remembered seeing them until I actually talked to them, I was too young to remember. Anyway we found out about his Aunt who came illegally on visa, and the cousin to whom this uncle is sister to the aunt, and father to the cousin.
WE knew all because we delved into every crack and crevice, so as not to have a "black man" embarrass us when we voted. It's when Hillary and Edwards were in the race.
WE did all the delving in 2005, 2006, 07. and 08, ever since Kerry's Convention speech in 2004, when a spur of the moment, last decision fill in from Chicago did the speech, that spoke to every American's forefathers dream for this country and it's people's future. Future is the word we focused on. Racism is tired and costly. I know it hard for most to believe that a blackman is as clean as a whistle, and that's the way all our candidates are to be vetted from that day forward and the reason Hillary lost, because of dishonesty. She tossed the honesty gauntlet and the scary blackman fear, but it didn't work then, and it won't work now. there are no boogeymen to fear when you have faith in God. WE the people were in mourning for a very deadly and costly vote to war based upon lies, and if all of America doesn't have sense enough to at least admit that, then there's definately something wrong in this country, and the storms will blow until it's right. The winds of change are blowing for our generation, after centuries of lies, deceit and neglect or our people. All of our people. Injustice to one citizen, is injustice to all citizens. That is our future, the truth all the time, not sometimes for clear decisions based upon fact.
I'm sorry everybody else wasn't paying attention, even the birth certificate was out there and discussed verbatim about birth and parents, and school record and everything, and it's why the President doesn't want to keep rehashing it over and over, because we kept at it until "no stone was unturned. Everyone else voted for the other guys and weren't privvy to all the vetting. We turned Barack Hussein Obama over and over and over and when there simply was no reason to fear this teacher, we embraced him as a honest candidate for President.
It was as simple as that, but we had to give him a spine and test him on the toughest race in history, and we won.
People really ought to be more appreciative of all the prayers and love we had when in 2004, we found out Bush lied our troops to their deaths and a prayer from Iraq, America, EU, went out to the high heavens in prayers for forgiveness for our ignorance and NOT vetting everything, and from then on, we've not slept on anything. Walking and chewing gum and blowing bubbles at the same time.

Wow, Jagman. Try some decaf.
The issues and attitudes around Barak Obama, both pro and con, are complex and involve many issues. Race is indeed one of those issues, whether it is for you or not. It is an issue for many of his supporters and many of his detractors. No one called you a racist as far as I can see. Acknowledging race as a factor in our society is hardly "playing the race card".
Lifebringer is sharing a point of view. You might be overreacting here. I can't for the life of me figure out what you want to "report" to the mods, but hey knock yourself out.
On a tangent, there are lots of very interesting things to discuss and delve into regarding the administration of Barak Obama. Lots of evidence about different things to look at and discuss. But we will never get anywhere until we drop these silly notions of "conservatives" and "liberals". These labels are provided for us as a distraction. Let us not oblige. The first step to wisdom is to let go of what we think we know. What we think we know, what we believe to be true, this is the most powerful weapon deployed against us. I guess I feel like saying this because I have to wonder where your reactivity is coming from.
No, regarding the Boston.com piece. This Onyango seems like the Billy Carter of the Obama family. Arrested for drunk driving and such. Not surprising that the President would try to distance himself. I'm not going to get excited every time a politician tells a lie. Does it prove he's a liar? Does it need to be proven? No one rises to that level of power while telling the truth. That's why men like Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich, Ralph Nader, and Colin Powell will never be president. Regardless of their politics, those are fairly honest men as far as I can tell. Not corrupt enough. So these kinds of lies aren't really worth getting excited about unless we get off on jumping up and down and pointing every time Satan eats his meat with his salad fork. And if righteousness is indeed our drug of choice, then that's our issue, but it's just one more way that we can be easily manipulated and controlled.
All that being said about honest men and corruption, I'm keeping an eye on Chris Christie. Seems like a decent guy and if anyone has a chance against Hillary I would think it would be him. I'm not even anti-Hillary, but I am anti-dynasty. So no Jeb Bush for me either.
What were we talking about again? I tend to ramble when my meds don't come in the mail on time. Squirrel.

Obama strikes me as a pathological liar....which of course all politicians are. And no, his race has nothing to do with it. I think it's about time we had a black President, and it's just a shame that the first one has to be this one. I never thought anyone could be worse than Dubya, but that just shows how naive I am. It's positively spooky how this guy came out of nowhere, snapped up the White House and started out-Bushing Bush! I don't think for a moment he's the one really pulling the strings. Somewhere there's a group of subhuman, evil parasites, working to destroy nations and enslave as many people as they can - the POTUS is just the front man. I hope I'm just paranoid, but man, would I love to see some integrity in governance!

Green Guy, I wonder sometimes what integrity in government would even look like. Seems like this would be such a disconnect from the existing system as to cause a collapse. We'd have to rebuild. I guess that's kind of what Mandela did in South Africa, but there would certainly be a period of turmoil for us. I'm pessimistic, though. I think anyone with integrity will get the Bobby Kennedy treatment if they are spotted early on. Let's hope that I am wrong someday. Hey. maybe Tom Hanks will run! Seems like a decent guy.

President Obama's uncle said at a deportation hearing Tuesday that Obama stayed with him while he was a student at Harvard Law School in the 1980s -- despite the White House having said that Obama never met the man.
People would say anything not to be deported, and to me, the fact that Obama does nothing for him is because he has never met him. Africa is very very corrupted. People there would not believe most of the uncle's talk. I have been told to get use to inflate everything I am and I do, because people would cut half automatically anyhow. I think the uncle is lying not to get deported.

I am afraid of our president , he has a drone kill list and uses it ... No trial , No judge , just boom ... If you step back and take a look , Obama and Bush have the same agenda... Both gave bailouts to banks , Both signed laws on holidays that take our freedoms , Both killed the economy , Both use predator drones , Both claim foreign countries have WMD's and use them on their own people , Both want war in the middle east , the public just didn't bite on Syria like they did on Iraq ...Both keep troops in Afganistan , Both stand in front of cameras and talk out of both sides of their mouths, saying one thing and we find out something different happens ...they are the same, don't fall for their trap of divide and conquer ... group hug

Lifebringer - the concerns that many of us have with Obama are not about race, either way.
jagman - the decaf might be a good idea :). The most effective way to respond is usually more calmly.
When we "take the bait" by overreacting to an (admittedly annoying) distraction from the important points, we contribute to furthering the distraction.

Whiskey, I work with a bunch of roughhouse guys here doing some pretty dirty jobs, Not once have I ever heard a racial overtone or slang used in regards to our president, this has nothing to do with racial except for those who continuously desire to elevate that theme. Elevate the theme, empower the division, keep the people divided and we never solve any issues, not for me. We do need to learn from history. I was absolutely appalled at Oprahs latest greatest racial divide as well. Ah the people making the news these days , very, very few. As far as integrity goes in government here's a moment in time to ponder and what stark contrasts this man was and is today to leaders in our past, present, and future. As I value your opinion , please value mine, enjoy the day.

The crux of the problem as I see it is that Barack Obama was not vetted at all. This normally is the job of the media and they did not fail in their vetting responsibility they simply did not perform them. I don't think Hillary lost the primaries because she lied, I think the media was so enthralled with the possibility of a black man becoming President, they very quickly dispatched Hillary under the bus. Saying that we turned "Barack Hussein Obama" over and over and over is just not a true statement. Granted 5 years down the road we know a bit more about Obama but not very much.
Here are a few examples
The media is still giving Obama free passes everyday, take for example the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He campaigned on the premise that he would stop the wars early. The wars are still raging and 73% of all the causalities in Afghanistan have happen since Obama has been in office. The wars are stopping on the original Bush calendar, not on a moved up Obama calendar. It amazes me that people are not outraged by this fact but once again the media does not report this information.
Take for example the IRS scandal, Obama says that he was "outraged by the behavior of the IRS". People wanted and needed to hear that, no American regardless of their politics wants an out of control IRS. Since Obama made that statement there has been no follow up by the president or the media. It pretty much business as usual.
Take for example the Benghazi scandal, Obama starts out blaming a video for the attack on the Consulate which was completely dishonest and there is little question that Obama knew this fact. When he finally came around to admitting it was a terrorist attack he claimed that those responsible would be held accountable. Americans wanted and needed to hear that but there has been not follow up by the president or the media.
Take for example the healthcare debacle. If Obama said: even if you like your doctor, you may not be able to keep your doctor. If he said: even if you like your healthcare plan you may not be able to keep your healthcare plan. If he said your premiums would be going up...............he probably would not have been reelected. As a matter of fact the last numbers indicate that that he would have definitely lost the election. This info was known by many in the media and they did not cover it up they simply did not report it. This was the ultimate free pass by the media, giving a man a second term based on false information.
I could go with a litany of similar events and scandals but the point is that this president and the media are still not giving the people information. They give us the headline only (knowing that Americans only need a headline and not substance) and not providing any substance or follow up. This is a sad commentary on most people today. Give them the headline they want to hear and don't worry about the substance.
This free pass has never been given to other presidents (at least not to this extent), this free get out of jail card has been given to Obama and Obama only. It covers a catalogue of sins. This president wasted no time donning the Teflon vest the media had given him, he puts it on at every opportunity.
My point is that Obama was clearly never vetted. Obama is still getting more than preferential treatment from the press. This special handling for this president goes beyond the pale, to an extent it is almost embarrassingly obvious.
In many ways this is a shame, Obama had an opportunity to be a great president but he squandered this wonderful opportunity presented to him by the mainstream media and the American People on a silver platter.

Is it possible that the oathkeepers within the military are completely hamstrung by it's central edict of following the chain of command?
Are we perhaps waiting for these oathkeepers to achieve the impossible? It would appear that no one in the military is above dismissal for failing
to follow orders. So the only option left for these people would be a coup d'etat - unless the people step into their power and authorize the actions necessary.
What would happen if, instead of protesting (argument/dishonorable in contract law), people united in a written expression of their will (renegotiated the contract) and issued the orders necessary for the oathkeepers to do their sworn duty.
If the government and it's military are created of,by and for the people (note: not persons or citizens), then what is required for the people
to reclaim their power and hold their creations to account?

Seymour Hersh Alleges Obama Administration Lied on Syria Gas Attack
by Adrian Lee, thewire, 12/08/13
http://news.yahoo.com/seymour-hersh-alleges-obama-administration-lied-syria-gas-204437397.html
Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh has dropped yet another bombshell allegation: President Obama wasn't honest with the American people when he blamed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for a sarin-gas attack in that killed hundreds of civilians.
In early September, Secretary of State John Kerry said the United States had proof that the nerve-gas attack was made on Assad's orders. "We know the Assad regime was responsible," President Obama told the nation in an address days after this revelation, which he said pushed him over the "red line" in considering military intervention.
But in a long story published Sunday for the London Review of Books, Hersh — best known for his exposés on the cover-ups of the My Lai Massacre and of Abu Ghraib – said the administration "cherry-picked intelligence," citing conversations with intelligence and military officials.
A former senior intelligence official told me that the Obama administration had altered the available information – in terms of its timing and sequence – to enable the president and his advisers to make intelligence retrieved days after the attack look as if it had been picked up and analysed in real time, as the attack was happening. The distortion, he said, reminded him of the 1964 Gulf of Tonkin incident, when the Johnson administration reversed the sequence of National Security Agency intercepts to justify one of the early bombings of North Vietnam. The same official said there was immense frustration inside the military and intelligence bureaucracy: ‘The guys are throwing their hands in the air and saying, “How can we help this guy” – Obama – “when he and his cronies in the White House make up the intelligence as they go along?”’
Here's what Hersh alleges:
The administration buried intelligence on the fundamentalist group/rebel group al-Nusra. It was seen, Hersh says, as an alarming threat by May, with the U.S. being aware of al-Nusra member able to make and use sarin, and yet the group – associated with the rebel opposition in Syria – was never considered a suspect in the sarin attacks. Hersh refers to a top-secret June cable sent to the deputy director of the Defense Intelligence Agency that said al-Nusra could acquire and use sarin. But the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Office of the Defense Intelligence Agency could not find the document in question, even when given its specific codes.

Pulitzer winner Seymour Hersh: Bin Laden raid ‘one big lie’
By Cheryl K. Chumley, The Washington Times, 09/30/13
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/sep/30/pulitzers-seymour-hersh-bin-laden-raid-one-big-lie/
Seymour Hersh, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, said all the details surrounding the U.S. raid on Osama bin Laden’s compound that resulted in the terrorist leader’s death are completely false.
That whole story of U.S. success is “one big lie,” he said in The Guardian.
“Not one word of it is true,” he said, referring to the narrative put forth by the Obama administration about the bin Laden mission and about the al Qaeda leader’s 2011 death.
Mr. Hersh didn’t specify or elaborate, but he is writing a book about national security issues, The New York Post reported. And one chapter is focused on the U.S. Navy SEALs’ storming of the bin Laden compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan.
Mr. Hersh even said that the report put out by the Pakistani government about life in the compound was a lie.
“The Pakistanis put out a report, don’t get me going on it,” he said in the New York Post report. “Let’s put it this way — it was done with considerable American input. It’s a [expletive] report.”

Samantha Power, the U.S. ambassador to the UN, told a press conference: ‘It’s very important to note that only the [Assad] regime possesses sarin, and we have no evidence that the opposition possesses sarin.’
It is not known whether the highly classified reporting on al-Nusra was made available to Power’s office, but her comment was a reflection of the attitude that swept through the administration.

Wow, Bush and Iraq all over again. So it would appear to be true that the goal of the Administration was to get us into a war, perhaps so that it might lead to a larger conflagration in Middle East and possibly a world war as suggested by those "conspiracy theorists" looking at the NWO agenda and the machinations of the hidden government and the military industrial establishment.

Thanks. Seymour Hersh has not only earned his Pulitzers, he deserves the Nobel Peace Price (if the prize isn't diminished by some of the creeps who have received it) for his continued work in exposing the war mongers of the world, perhaps the biggest evil doers on the planet. With his exposes on My Lai and Abu Graibh, he has demonstrated that war is nothing but an evil enterprise carried out by the profit gouging fear mongering military industrial complex that go about removing the moral backbone of most U.S. Presidents.

I have been watching the Mandela memorial all day.
Obama shook the hand of Raul Castro (that's the dude from Cuba!) and greeted him with a smile and a few words.

Obama made a brilliant speech.

http://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/world/2013/12/10/mandela-memorial-barack-obama-speech.cnn.html
Here's an excerpt and my comments about it ...
We, too, must act on behalf of justice. We, too, must act on behalf of peace. There are too many of us who happily embrace Madiba’s legacy of racial reconciliation, but passionately resist even modest reforms that would challenge chronic poverty and growing inequality. There are too many leaders who claim solidarity with Madiba’s struggle for freedom, but do not tolerate dissent from their own people. And there are too many of us who stand on the sidelines, comfortable in complacency or cynicism when our voices must be heard.
[B]Obama seems to be speaking to himself when talking about dissent! Obama speaks brilliantly, but what he says and does just do not match. Is he a two-faced liar or does he speak the truth in speeches but is relatively powerless as a president, as some commentators say?
Jewish, Muslim, Hindu and Christian religious leaders shared a stage to pray for and give thanks for Madiba (this is normal in South Africa, but perhaps not in other countries), and a variety of political leaders (many who are not friendly with each other) sat together (Israel decided not to attend ... probably could not face sitting with leaders from Iran and Palestine!)
It rained (in South Africa that is a sign of good luck), it was a very long day, full of many speeches (from UN, AU, BRICS and various SA VIPs and political and religious leaders, and USA was given a great honour by asking Obama to speak), the crowd was rowdy and booed the president (of SA) three times in front of the whole world (Madiba was a freedom fighter so I thought that was a fitting tribute!), there was a praise singer and the hymns made me cry, and perhaps the world would be bewildered, but singing and dancing is what South Africans do, when we celebrate, when we mourn, when we protest.
PS Castro also gave a very good speech ... will see if I can find a transcript of that. (I was inspired by the Cuban revolution as a student and am still inspired by the courage and strength and achievements of Cubans, even though they have struggled and have made many mistakes.)
PPS Many supporters of South Africans from Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany, and many other countries, seem to have been bypassed in this memorial, but South Africans remember them and the voices of the struggle for freedom, equality and opportunity of all may be under siege in those countries, as in South Africa, but, today, I have hope that we will find each other again and work together to prevail.

I did watch it too and feel i can't trust any of the speeches of the living, only the ones of Mandela. Would be great to have a medium contact him to give his perspective of what happened today:angel: I really wanted to believe Obama did really mean what he said but i just coudn't.
Sweden was the first country to officially acknowlede ANC during the Social democrat Olof Palme who started to raise money already when he was young by giving blood.
The economical support was bigger than all the other countries together.
A beautiful example of the humbleness of Mandela was when he visited Sweden right after he was liberated and was intrviewed by a young woman who started support groups for ANC. She asked him who his hero was and he answered that it's very difficult to single out one special since there are so many..."You are my hero" he then told her smiling:) and she replied "You are mine " She was interviewed today and said she was amazed he did choose an interview from such a small youth organization.

Spouth Africa is in turmoil ... our president was booed three times during the memorial to Nelson Mandela (and then the ANC handlers handled the situation to mask the displayed discontent).
No, it did not diminish us or Mandela, because Mandela was also a freedom fighter and I experienced this behaviour of the crowd as a tribute to Mandela ... that his spirit gives us hope that we can get back to walking that path of freedom ... the path where it is not too difficult to provide working toilets and libraries and decent teachers for all schools, the path where it is not too difficult to empower the poor instead of using them as political ammunition, the path where we can teach South Africans that racism is unscientific and stupid, the path where we can embrace NGOs that help those who cannot help themselves, the path where we embrace critical and creative thinking and enjoy robust debates without throwing poo, the path where hollow VIPs do not spend millions on cars and catering and backroom deals and upgrades to personal property and the corrupt enrichment through inflated tenders (when the heck are we going to get government control of budgets and quality control for projects instead of paying through the nose for whatever is quoted and then delivered in corrupt tenders ... any private company that works on this model is soon bankrupt!).
The behaviour of crowds elsewhere (where is the free food, on top of the free transport, and why the heck isn't this a public holiday so I can be here for free) is a symptom of how dangerously disempowered many South Africans have become. The vibrant and effective community groups and NGOs of Mandela's time have become poo-throwing and fighting-through-courts costly and often ineffectual mobs.
In his death and the memory of his life, Nelson Mandela is calling for us to remember that he was a freedom fighter and that he fought for that freedom with wisdom, courage and love, but also organisation and strategy and the forging of relationships and co-operation. Today, I felt hope that South Africans can do this and we can find our way back to that long walk to freedom.
I hope that across the world the message and power of Mandela and the liberation of South Africa will manifest in the people becoming freedom fighters with the wisdom and strength and love of Mandela, but also with the superb understanding of politics and organisation and co-operation, and humility of acknowledging and accepting human frailty in making mistakes, that existed in South Africa when he was president.

Having seen all the pictures relating to Obama shaking Castro's hand and know generally how Obama behaves himself with most other politicians having seen him in action, I don't think it was very sincere. Obama has a way of looking at the people with very little genuine eye contact. He was more gracious and had more eye contact with Castro's wife. ts just him having a hard time hiding the fact that he could not care less. Well at least, I see it myself, I have to say I am a self defined body language "expert".
Take it as you will, but my gut feeling is just him doing what had to be politically done.
You can bet that Castro knows full well all of this and he himself just played his part in this bigger than both of them expected moment.
Obama would not shake my hand as I would not either, but if it did happen, he certainly would not fool me...

To be large, full and complete again (what a relief!), not in this limited box of a body.
If this is a case of Obama having 'fun' at a funeral, then that is a problem, for some. I may not think it is a good idea in that context, as it is done out of ignorance and malice, lack of emotions. In my case, I'm talking bout knowing what is going on at the fundamental level, and I'm not seeing a problem in that context.
However, the odds are he is not aware at that level and thus it is an insult. But, considering the things I've seen done or recall being, it is so far from being important, that I cannot be bothered to let it even register.
Use it as a sign to measure his contempt or lack of emotions, sure, and parade it around as a form of illustrating to the public why they might need to be against him. In that, it might be valid. On me personally, it registers not even a blink.

I imagine that the modern version of an Irish wake might have, the odd time... relatives sitting on the floor beside the hunched corpse that has a drink in it's hand, taking a selfie of themselves and the corpse, both with drinks in their hands.
Yes I can see it as appropriate at a wake. It wasn't a wake.

And in fairness, Obama wasn't the only one who didn't seem to be taking the occasion seriously.

I'm with Carmody. It was a memorial, a celebration of his life. Had I been there, I would really have appreciated the coffee ;) The funeral is on Sunday.
I was bemused by completely other things on that day. The pouring rain. A good omen for many African cultures. The fake sign language interpreter and the raw emotional boos whenever the Commander in Thief: Zuma, appeared on the screens. Those who have lived through the Nkandla housing scandal, will know what I mean. The epitome of 'entitlement'. UGH!!!
Those who judge from afar, who have not been through the "struggle" will most certainly have a hard time understanding that most Africans will have no problem with the 'selfie', whether I like them (those taking the pic) or not.
Anyhoo, as with most things, divide and conquer is the order of the day/our lives. I still feel privileged to have been alive/awake during his lifetime, and having met the man personally I can attest to his larger than life persona. He is/was a gift to me and many others.
Haters will hate.........

Funeral is funeral, and wake is wake. Two different things.
When some are grieving the jokes and laughter of others whose minds are on just having fun and
can be a bit irritating. But maybe no one else was sad...
...so Africans don't feel a thing when an era ends?

Each will choose to what degree. Those who choose less due to the actions of others are lessened substantially; Just as those who feel pain in their hearts, due to their own judgements that they chose to make.
(re: this situation, I don't feel you are being judging - I tend to see things objectively and respond objectively but often fail to adjust in moments of subjectivity - I am learning this now - probably pissed off a lot of people here unintentionally ;))

Michelle Obama was obviously not amused.
Maybe she has a better idea than the other three what is appropriate behavior at a funeral.
You are falling same trap among majority.
First of all . It was a remembrance memorial not a funeral, not likely you witnessed in your culture everyday. Remembrance memorial is a joy for participants which honor the deceased person and his/her accomplished works. Participants dance , eat and drink for memory of him/her.
Totally different acts play contrary to your customs.
Do not generalize,/label an unfamiliar culture with your taught customs please.

Iran pulled out of expert-level talks with six world powers Friday to protest the expansion of U.S. sanctions, saying the blacklisting of more entities violates the spirit of a groundbreaking agreement over Tehran's atomic program.
In the first major hurdle to the interim deal reached last month in Geneva, the United States targeted more than a dozen companies and people on Thursday for evading sanctions against Iran.
It was an effort by the Obama administration to show it will enforce existing law even as it presses Congress to hold off on additional measures while world powers pursue a comprehensive nuclear deal with Tehran.
But the Iranians called the move them "unconstructive and against good intentions," and accused the U.S. of sending mixed signals.

If there has ever been a speech that everyone needs to see regarding Obama’s plan to take our guns. This is the one!
In this clip we see an army vet that serves as a police officer speak to the motion to repeal the ‘Safe’ act at the Dutchess County Legislature New York State.
His name is Aaron Weiss and he has quite a bit say. At some points he even tears up. It isn’t until he speaks on his friend’s passing away in war that his emotions get the best of him.

This was front page news today in the Boston Globe...and other news sources...has me wondering why? US arms 1/3 of the world with arms...
"Since 2009, when President Obama took office, the United States has led a surge in global arms deals, accounting for nearly a third of the roughly $30 billion in weapons transfers completed last year, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute."
That's $10 billion - $10,000,000,000 - sales in military weapons in just one year, with more to come.
Obama, Kerry push for over seas sales of US weapons
Secretary of State John F. Kerry has been active in efforts to help US defense contractors sell more military supplies to allies overseas as a way to bolster their role in international security.
WASHINGTON — The Obama administration is making an aggressive push to help US
weapons manufacturers sell more arms overseas, including lobbying foreign leaders to
purchase warships, aircraft, and missiles, and relaxing some controls on the transfer of
military components, according to administration and industry officials.
Since 2009, when President Obama took office, the United States has led a surge in
global arms deals, accounting for nearly a third of the roughly $30 billion in weapons
transfers completed last year, according to the Stockholm International Peace
Research Institute.
Its share was up from a little more than a quarter of the global market four years ago,
according to the Swedish group, which has tallied arms sales worldwide since 1966.
US arms transfers went from $6.9 billion in 2009 to $8.7 billion last year, according to
the institute’s database, a 25 percent increase. The statistics for this year are not yet
available, but specialists say they expect to see the steady upward trend continue.
Top administration officials credit a coordinated effort by the White House and active
participation by Secretary of State John F. Kerry with helping American companies ink
more weapons contracts. Officials also are lowering regulatory barriers to companies
looking to export arms.
The policy is driven, the administration says,
by a key US foreign policy goal: helping the
country’s allies shoulder more of the burden of
international security. It is not about trying to
boost company profits and protect jobs in the
United States, they insist, though they
acknowledge economic benefits are a
byproduct of the policy.
“We are very keen to have allies and partners step up to the plate,” said Gregory M.
Kausner, deputy assistant secretary of state for regional security and arms transfers,
and a former Navy fighter pilot. He described arms sales as a “fundamental tool of
foreign policy.”
Yet a number of human rights and international security experts are raising alarms
that the more aggressive approach, which has received scant attention in Congress,
could fuel tensions with Iran and China, and make it easier for potential adversaries to gain access to sensitive US military technologies.
They also worry that not enough consideration is
being given to the possibility that some allies
who are buying record amounts of high-tech
arms, especially in the unstable Middle East,
could end up using American weapons to stifle
dissent or commit other human-rights abuses.
They cite Egypt as a recent example.
“The floodgates are going to open and it is going
to be a happy new year for the defense industry,
which is going to make a lot of money,” said
Richard Grimmett, who recently retired after
more than 30 years as the leading international
security analyst for the Congressional Research
Service, a nonpartisan legislative branch agency. “But you didn’t have oversight
hearings explaining, ‘Here is why it is a good idea, here is why it is a bad idea.’ ”
One of the biggest beneficiaries has been Waltham-based Raytheon Co., the largest
employer in Massachusetts and the world’s fifth-largest defense contractor. It reported
earlier this month that as much as 30 percent of its annual business will come from
foreign sales — the highest it has reported. The company expects in coming weeks to
complete deals in the Middle East worth $5 billion.
Raytheon can thank, in part, Kerry, who has final authority over international arms
sales by US companies and in recent months has taken on a significant role as booster.
For example, earlier this year Kerry personally advocated for a $2 billion proposal
from Raytheon to outfit the Persian Gulf emirate of Oman, which is adjacent to Iran,
with a new air defense system. Kerry’s advocacy in effect continued the lobbying
campaign he began several years earlier as a Massachusetts senator.
“I wanted to come here to be able to thank you and to celebrate with you the Raytheon
initiative,” Kerry remarked in May as he met Oman’s defense minister.
Kerry declined to be interviewed for this story. A senior US official directly involved in
the review process said the increase in arm sales to the Middle East and Asia is a
reflection of the government’s new approach.
“In the past, there wasn’t a very coherent strategy to do advocacy,” said the official,
who was not authorized to speak publicly. “Slowly over the years there’s been a
recognition that there has to be a greater governmentwide thought process. This
administration has focused on it.’’
The official explained that US defense company proposals are now a consideration in
virtually all diplomatic dealings with foreign officials. For example, top government
officials traveling to particular countries are now regularly prepared to advocate for US
firms who are seeking to sell arms there.
“Who, at what level, is going where and when?” the official described the approach,
saying the advocacy effort is aimed at “how to get the biggest bang for the buck.”
US defense companies have two primary avenues to sell weapons internationally.
There are foreign military sales, which are government-to-government deals and
managed by the Pentagon, and direct commercial sales to foreign governments. Those
are overseen by the Department of State, which grants export licenses.
Administration officials insist that security, not economics, is what drives the push to
sell more US arms. Providing key allies with American hardware, they say, will ensure
the United States has partners in containing Iran and North Korea, as well as deterring
China from taking a more aggressive posture toward US allies Japan and South Korea.
“We don’t make these decisions as a jobs program,” said the State Department’s
Kausner.
In a sign of the growing global competition, China’s volume of arms exports climbed a
whopping 162 percent in 2008 to 2012, compared with 2003 to 2007, according to the
Stockholm Peace Research Institute tally. For the first time China placed in the top
five of global arms providers, behind the United States, Russia, Germany, and France,
and displacing the United Kingdom.
But numerous experts see financial considerations — not security strategy — as the key
factor in the surging US arms trade. They point out that the Pentagon’s buying power
is shrinking substantially with budget cuts.
“The most important thing is the US down trend,” said Richard Aboulafia, vice
president for analysis at the Teal Group, a defense and aerospace consulting firm in
Fairfax, Va. “To keep production lines alive, you have to focus on the international
market.”
For instance, he noted that a number of key weapons systems that are being purchased
in fewer numbers by the US military are now major offerings overseas, including F-15
and F/A-18 fighter jets and C-17 military transport planes.
Another factor is that the US military presence in both Iraq and Afghanistan is
drawing to a close, said Siemon Wezeman, a senior researcher at the Stockholm
Institute.
“Business was up during the wars, which gave US companies quite a lot of possibilities
to sell equipment and services and spare parts,” he said. “That, of course, will be
gone.”
The Obama administration also is shifting approval power for the sale of some military
components from the State Department to the Commerce Department, which requires
less oversight.
The new arrangement will streamline the export of thousands of components that
officials say would not provide a significant military edge, such as aircraft parts and
satellite technologies that are available on the commercial market. The list also will include “military vehicles, vessels, submarines, and auxiliary military equipment,’’ the
White House announced this fall.
Leading industry advocates say the Obama administration could go even further to
coordinate overseas sales.
“We just want to start a process where it is done even more, and make it as much of a
machine as possible,” Remy Nathan, vice president for international affairs at the
Aerospace Industries Association, a defense trade group, said of industry-government
coordination.
Among the critics of this trend is the American Bar Association’s Center for Human
Rights, which has raised concerns that the United States will be introducing a flood of
small arms and ammunition into areas ripe for conflict.
“I have not seen any meaningful analysis of the human rights component,” said
Brittany Benowitz, the center’s chief counsel, who noted worries about “people who
obtain arms from the US and then go out and do horrible things with them.”
Even some of the architects of the Obama administration’s approach acknowledge
there are potential consequences.
“There are downside risks,” said Michele Flournoy, who served as undersecretary of
defense for policy in the president’s first term. “You can have governments change, or
governments misuse US weaponry.”
She also said that by transferring some military components to the Commerce
Department’s export licensing process, there will be less tracking of where those parts
go and how they are ultimately used.
“There is certainly less reporting after the fact,” Flournoy said, though she maintains
the benefits outweigh the risks for US foreign policy.
A few members of Congress are calling for restoration of stronger export controls.
Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, a Florida Republican and member of the House
Foreign Affairs Committee, said she believes more oversight is needed “to ensure that
our military equipment and technology are not transferred to a third party without our
knowledge, and that they cannot be used to threaten our interests.”
Longtime observers said they are surprised by how little attention has been paid to the
arms sales bonanza.
“There have been times when there has been a surge in US arms sales and the issue
has been debated,” said William Hartung, a researcher at the Center for International
Policy, a Washington think tank. “This time it doesn’t seem to be the case.’’
Grimmett, who has watched the process for nearly four decades, said few seem to care
about the potential risks.
“There is no opposition anymore,” he said.

hello everyone:
I had a thought as I read this article. What if the usa is selling off military equipment that has hardware made in China in it? There have been threads here on avalon regarding backdoors in the hardware and software of military products manufactured in China. This would be an excellent way to get rid of all the problematic hardware and software without ever raising any concerns or flags with the people purchasing it.
Just a thought.....

When you buy Military hardware, you do due diligence. You get the designs that go down to the smallest component parts, all the electronics and software, and you go over it with a fine toothed comb. You do not allow compromised hardware into your arsenal. This is NOT new, this has been going on for a long time and military people know all the tricks and do a lot of due diligence.
Source: I spoke to a guy on a plane who was coming back from just one such due diligence op, he had been tearing down and reassembling helicoptors that they were thinking of buying.
