I've been watching the film 1984 which subject is about a "totalitarian superstate of Oceania under the constant surveillance of the Thought Police". And it is a bleek reminder how society, or certain proportions of it, are becoming more and more under surviellance, and with indoctrination in political thought through various programs in the military and the media, being focused on the masses as a whole, it seems even to think along lines not similar to these indoctrinations, maybe considered a "thought" crime.
Wars for example are good for certain groups and companies for as the old saying goes "war is good for business". It is a constant repetition of a political process or thought in engaging certain countries which may not conform to a certain indoctrination which is political in nature, and to some degree may threaten the resources which helps support that government, and corporations which have a vested interested (mostly of an economic nature).
The state is not only monitoring other governments, private companies and individuals, in also monitors its own citizens in the interest of self proclaimed "national security". It begs the question, whom deems this activity a "national security" interest? The CIA, FBI, NSA and numerous others are involved in monitoring its own population, but who is provided the gathered information? Faceless and nameless groups of individuals who were never voted in? The leaders in the US and the UK only receive information which others deem they should have a "need to know" in order to function in their roles, which are usual time limited. These individual who are responsible to inform their so called leaders are a part of the system of surveillance and control.
So 1984 maybe more and more like modern day society, it could be a blueprint for such.
