First off the movie is amazing, excellent acting, writing etc.

Second, the movie hinges on the idea that superstitions and rituals influence the outcome of large sporting events such as the national football league in the united states.

Not very long ago in my life this idea would have seemed absolutely insulting. But I've changed. I can't help but wonder, in a world of string theory and infinite dimensions that get played out in a way to account for every possibility, is there some truth to rituals and superstition?
Is the individual practitioner not so much trying to affect the outcome of a game, but rather, willfully trying to choose the reality for himself that the desired outcome occurs in?

I find this pretty cool. :)

I liked it.

When it gets to the scene where

**spoilers**

they start all the word association synchronicities I was getting occult Illuminati vibes or what? Was almost waiting for Jordy Maxwell to pop up and start explaining all the jazz they were on about! Then the movie went back to the earlier pace... weird ... but I liked it too!

I thought it was a great movie, too!

Besides being spot on with word association synchronicities, rituals and superstitions, I loved the family dynamics portrayed. Those people loved one another and supported each other in spite of the psychological issues that many of them were dealing with.

The conversation regarding the multiple medications that are frequently forced on these folks was right on target, too. I recognized so many of those meds that I give every day in my job as a psych nurse. Many of them have significant side effects that the actors mention....mind-numbing, foggy-head, and physically bloating, in particular. But that's a topic for another thread.

I thought it was a great movie, too. A truly brilliant script-and a great vehicle for awareness of mental illness, particularly bipolar conditions.
