Woman arrested for opposing
surveillance device placed in her home
Jennifer Stahl has been a strong advocate against the smart meter program in Naperville, Ill., for the last two years. The issue came to a head Wednesday afternoon when she was arrested while refusing to let the utility workers install the controversial device.
"I was protecting my property," Stahl said in an interview with TheBlaze Thursday afternoon. "I felt my emotion was like a momma bear protecting her babies."
Stahl was at a friend's house when she received the call from her husband that the utility workers had arrived. She was home within 15 minutes and saw they were at a neighbor's house. Her neighbors were not home, but they had signs stating they did not permit the new meter to be installed.
Stahl said she waited on her porch for the workers to arrive at her house. When they did, she refused them access to her backyard through her locked gate. The police ” including the police supervisor, a sergeant” were called. Stahl said the sergeant explained the workers had authorization to access the meter, but Stahl stood her ground saying she didn't approve it. The sergeant continued to try and convince Stahl to comply and said if she didn't, he'd arrest her.
"The city has always had and maintains the right to access our equipment, and today we were simply exercising that right," City Manager Doug Kreiger told the Chicago Tribune, which reported Wednesday's events.
The lock on Stahl's fence was cut, and when Stahl wouldn't step away from the meter, she was lead away by an officer, cuffed and waited for a marked squad car to arrive to take her to the department. When asked why she was being arrested, she was told it was for interfering with a police officer.
To contact the City Manager Doug Kreiger, call (630) 420-6044 or e-mail him directly at kriegerd@naperville.il.us.

Well, beware that with the introduction of windows 8 your computer will become property of Microsoft as soon as you accept the terms of use.
At least so I heard and read somewhere. I have no hands on experience yet with Windows 8 myself.

Can these devices be insulated? Like a faraday cage of sorts so it can still be installed but the signal is completely nullified?
If they are arresting people for refuzing them access to the utilities (which they seem to have pointed out is their right by law.. heh) then the only counter to this is an enclosure that stops the electomagnetic poision coming from it from getting anywhere.

You could do that ... physically ... but the electric utility company will not be amused, as that is how they read the meter, via the data stream radio'd back to them.
So I imagine that they will take whatever measures necessary to ensure that they can read that data, from any customer they are still providing electricity to.

Wow, so much for private property! In Australia Police can break into your house if they're looking for guns or drugs. Listen to this Rant Alex Jones said about smart meters and the new $1 million bionic man - they'll attach him to your house as the new Smart Meter & he'll repeat: "Hi. I'm Max, ... if you say this is 1984 you'll be permanently detained. If you video tape me you'll be arrested. Hi I'm Max..." See the video at 2.30 sec to hear this - it's the most halirious thing I've heard all year.

Here in Aus all of our power meters are generally inside a metal box with a hinged door which can be opend at will. If you were to make this box the faraday cage, the meter can still be read manually. They can still access it if needed, but they should not be able to do jack **** about the faraday enclosure. If they question/complain about it say you are electromagnetically sensative, and since its installation have sufferd skin rashes, migranes and feignted, and if they dare try to remove it they must first sign a form accepting liability to you're health and medical bills. :)
Where i live, in a block of units, my parents recieved an $800 water bill. My parents, not believing myself and my partner could possibly use so much water, challenged this bill and it dropped down to $300. What was happening was, since the area that the water metres are was secure (they legally require, and have a pass to get into that area, it's just they were lazy) they were taking the ammount of water used by the entire building and dividing it up equally amongst all the units, we now demand our bill to come with a photograph as proof of what the reading actualy is. I am sure they are still wrongly charging others.
Demand every bill proof that your meter reading is correct with evidance of the meter reading as you have heard alot of other people are being incorrectly charged by smartmetres reporting back incorrect data as well, if they complain about having to send someone out, make them do it anyway.

It Seems no matter how many times you say NO they go against your will anyway, if you refuse, you go to jail, is that not a breech of your human rights/free will, america says "we are the land of the free, but there is a catch to that fredom"
If you say NO to Vacines, you go to jail and have your kids kidnapped.
if you say NO to poll tax/council tax, you go to court/jail
if you say NO to getting a smart meter installed you get arrested and probably fined too which will go to even more courrpt cops and judges, so they make money from taxes by taking your free will away? don't you love our backwards system? no wonder why i am so depressed.

Smart grid, smart meter memes are active right now all over the world, they are building a new framework that will be the base of a new economic system.
This system will be automated and can decide to make you pay higher prices if when compared to other sectors, the "machine" decides you don't pay enough for what you consume in energy.
In other words, its Aldous Huxley's "A brave new world" slowly creeping up on all of us.
So these women unknowingly are fighting against a much bigger system than what they find at a municipal level, a bit like the situation with fluoride in the water .
