That still doesn't explain the surly attitudes of the checkout people. Oh wait maybe it does?

There is an article floating around stating that a human tooth was found in a sausage which was from tescos. So who knows what has been added to processed food over the years.

All I can say is OMG.OMG.OMG.. Is it just me or does this article seem a tad bit sugarcoated! This is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS!! They talk as if someone accidentally slipped up and used honey instead of sugar, Without a lot of alarm. I wonder how long this has been going on, and I also wonder who besides Aldi is distributing horse instead of cow. GAG- If this doesn't make one stop eating meat......cat vs. rabbit. Am I buying rotisseried feline at the supermarket, labeled chicken? This is really an eye opener. I don't shop at Aldi, but they cannot be the only ones IMO.

I once remember when I ate Hot Dogs, I crunched on a small white and hard fragment. Someone said it could of very well been a small rodents cartilage that could of gotten into the vat somehow. Good thing I no longer indulge in Animal, Bird and Fish Flesh. Its been 3 years, I dont miss it. Besides The Animals have been much friendlier to me since. Guess they picked up on that. ;)

Peace

It all makes me wonder whether it's just a way to guage public opinion on eating horse meat.

There are hundreds of horses and ponies in the UK and Ireland going to slaughter, the meat being sent to the EU where it is highly prized, the following article is about ex racehorses but with the recession I would expect many domestic pets will end up there as well.

and i bet the quality of the meat is even better and got less pharmaca in it, but the good thing about this whole topic is that people think about it, the lassagne just got a different taste ;)

It's a pity people can't get all riled up and indignant about all the Growth Hormones and anti-biotics fed to cattle & sheep etc.

If Horse meat is all you can find in an economy burger, then you should consider yourself lucky.

Bad news, Good news.

1) Bad news....I am mortified to think I have been consuming horsemeat for years now!!!

2) Good news... I am entering myself for the Grand National next year. I figure I have an excellent chance of winning....Lol
Any takers?!!

It's funny, I was having a conversation with a friend of my husband's who is an avid meat eater/hunter and I posed the question of hunting a horse vs. a deer. He came up with all these crazy opinions (crazy to me, anyhow) of the difference. But when it comes down to it....you're still taking a life, or consuming a once living, breathing animal. If you like the taste, then what really is the difference? I personally do not eat meat, and have never in my life really enjoyed the taste....so it is just a genuine question.
I see how it's taboo, but I just don't see the difference in judging someone for eating a cow burger vs. an elk burger, vs. a bison burger, etc.

I then posed the question to my husband's buddy (old texas redneck:) ), "What if some really benevolent E.T. needed you for breakfast for "protein" so she could nurse her baby. But she could get "protein" from licking the pine tree three good times 4 yards away from you. Would you happily lay down and say bon appetit so she could be nourished, or would you point hastily to that pine tree!?"

Hahaha....the look on his face was priceless.
