In the US, natural disasters have caused the US government to declare national
emergencies. Now, an old bill has resurfaced in Congress that allows the government to
implement at least six military installations to house US citizens when a national
emergency is declared. The National Emergency Centers Act or HR 645 gives the
Federal Emergency Management Agency power over the camps and before the bill was
shot down due to the broad language and the fears of unchecked government power,
but can this bill ever pass? Bob English, civil liberties activist and blogger, sounds off on
the issue.

Gitmo Upgrade: US to spend $40 million on renovation

Despite promises to close Guantanamo Bay, Washington is now preparing to invest
tens of millions into renovating the controversial facility's infrastructure. The
Pentagon is planning to install a $40-million fiber optic cable at Guantanamo, and
the base's commanders say such a long term investment in infrastructure makes
sense only if the US intends to continue operating the base.

U.S. lawyer and attorney, Eric Montalvo, who's represented some of the detainees
at Guantanamo, believes the American leadership is totally failing to practice what
it preaches.

The notorious US detention facility at Guantanamo bay in Cuba marks its 11th
anniversary, despite president Obama's four-year old promise to shut the camp.
While human rights groups are calling for freedom for those cleared for release and
for a fair trial for others, polls show the majority of Americans have moved on. And
as RT's Gayane Chichakyan reports, public opinion in the US relies more on fiction, than fact.

I wonder, though,

are there no shelters for taxpayers themselves in the event of emergency?

Are we being engineered to reject a protective measure?

I hate NDAA and the army civilian inmate labor program, but voting against disaster shelters is kind of kooky!

i could be totally misunderstanding the issue.

Seriously folks.

FEMA shelters as protection for the masses???

Really???

How many hollow point bullets does FEMA now possess for every man woman and child in the usa???

How many thousands upon thousands of plastic coffins are piled up waiting for us on those friendly FEMA confines???

Does a post like this really need to be made on this forum???

You guys might be right,
maybe I haven't read enough about FEMA.

I know they really messed up the New Orleans/Katrina thing.

I was stationed at one of the bases that provided a night's stay and transportation out of the disaster area to one of the said military installations.

Sometimes I wonder what happened to them.
I hope they are ok and got real housing.
We may never know eh??

Why could this be a slippery step ?

One of the reasons so many people went
obediently to the labour & death camps is
they thought they were going to be
relocated to the east for a new life.

The Nazi propaganda machine made
films showing the public this....

Is not the US the 4th Reich ?
Corporate fascism, the state
run by corporate interrests.

Just to be clear, they did not mess up with New Orleans/Katrina ,
they tested to see how far they can go before the public steps in and sais enough of that.

i should mention, all the of the refugees I recall seeing coming through my base were African Americans!!!!

:( I really wish we knew what happened to them.

i hope they are not screaming in some dark Riese gulag somewhere.

Looking forward to using escape and evasion training, if needed. A person can be more of a threat inside than outside. Time to watch reruns of Hogan's Hero's for sure. Fear not, they won't win.

But what they won't suspect is that THEY will inhabit some of those coffins themselves. Good of them to plan their own demise. Fear not!
